Morning Meanderings…

Morning!  Coffee Cup and I are enjoying a little quiet time before my day goes from zero (now) to 120 (an hour from now).

I have always appreciated good commercials.  At one time I even considered going into advertising because a good witty commercial really appeals to me.  (Oh come on….. am I the only one that watches the Super Bowl for the commercials?)

Over the last week I have seen a commercial that cracks me up every time I see it.  Whoever created this one – it is brilliant.  I laugh every time.  Nicely done!

Today I have a day in the office, some work to do at home, and a review coming up in a little while.

Do you have any favorite commercials?

Morning Meanderings…

I think it has been a long time since I really just meandered all over with this ongoing version of me “unplugged”.  So hopefully you will stay with me today as Coffee Cup and I just rattle on about all things in my head…

First of all I know I have many of you out there who tell me you LOVE LOVE LOVE this morning post.  And with that I give a sheepish thanks… I love doing it.  You may be wondering why I don’t do it on Sunday or Monday.  I do two memes a week – The In My Mailbox hosted by Story Siren and The Its Monday What Are You Reading, formally hosted by the wonderful J Kaye’s Blog and now hosted by me.  When I do these two meme’s I try not to post anything else on the blog during the day so these posts can take center stage.

  • The In My Mailbox not only gives me a chance to share what came in my house bookish, it is also an online record for me to keep track when books did arrive.
  • The It’s Monday What Are You Reading meme is the day I really get a chance to connect with other bloggers and see what they are reading currently and what they have finished up on.

Both of these posts are very social for me.  I like to connect with fellow readers, and have conversations through the comments left here and through their blogs as well.

The rest of the week, hopefully I can Morning Meander.  🙂  Today I am “gyming” it up again.  I am getting back on track and didn’t miss a work out all weekend!  I am still alone this week, Al will get back late Sunday night so that gives me  another week here of a lot of down time and reading time.   It’s funny because after spending three weeks with Al pretty much consistently every day I thought I would really enjoy this break.  I mean, owning our own business really puts us running most of the time in opposite directions.  During season (end of March – end of November) we hardly see each other at all, maybe a couple hours a night but between long hours and office work… there is not a lot of “us” time.  When there is a lot of that – I get a bit stir crazy because I am so used to being independent.  Now… I am missing him and ready to have him home and snuggling on the couch watching Survivor or Amazing Race together.  *sigh

Currently I am spending my mornings filling the wood stove ( a chore I take over when he is gone), doing a little morning devotion time, hanging out with the Coffee Cup, working out if I am super ambitious and then to the office.  Late afternoons are running errands if I must, and doing any house related tasks that await me.  I eat dinner and settle in usually with my laptop, a book, and a movie….  not to all be done at once, but instead to give me choices at my fingertips.

I have bunches of reviews to catch up on…. I don’t know why it takes me so long to write them when sharing with all of you is one of my favorite parts!

Anyway… enough rambling by me…..  I have “oatmealed” up…. had my coffee and if all went as I had planned in my head last night…. I have made my way to the gym at 5:30 am for a spin class which I hate but thought if I did it super early no one I knew would be see me suffer through the horrors of the stationary bike.

Hopefully I will have a book review of every day this week to help push me forward and get caught up!  Enjoy your day and I would love to hear what is your favorite way to work out?  (I can always use tips!)

Morning Meanderings…

Good morning all.  Coffee Cup says good morning too.  I have had a wonderfully relaxing morning so far.  I got up early and made a pot of coffee, had oatmeal and enjoyed reading a good book in a quiet house.

So what am I reading?

The Lightning Thief is the book of the day.  I am going to see if Chance (Kinship Partner) is able to go to the movie with me this afternoon.  While the book so far is seeming to be written for a younger reader than I had anticipated, it is growing on me.

Looks good?  I think so!  I am off now to do my Group Power class and then a little tread mill/elliptical time with my friend Jennifer.  Then home and back to the book!

Any good movies coming up that you want to see?

Morning Meanderings…

Just back from a work out!  YES!  I made it and I feel good.  Energized…. and honestly – just glad to have it over for the day.  🙂

Today is normally my day off but my right hand assistant is on vacation this week and I have plenty to catch up on so I am in the office until 2 pm.  After that – I think I am going to grab myself a chick flick or two, make a wonderful spinach salad for dinner tonight and enjoy the quiet of my home.  I am hoping to read Lightning Thief tonight so I can take our Kinship partner Chance to the movie tomorrow afternoon.

It is day two since Al went to Honduras.  I miss him already.

I have a review coming up in a little bit today and at some point during this weekend I really need to announce giveaway winners!

Any plans for the weekend?

Morning Meanderings…

I missed my morning work out.  I had a plan.  I was going to meet Jennifer this morning at 6:30 am at the gym.  I made that plan yesterday around noon when I was all full of energy.   Then…

At home I was so excited to spend my day one of alone time with my laptop, the tv and a book.  That was the plan.  What actually happened was I set up everything downstairs so I was in the recliner with all the above mentioned.  What I like to do is turn on a Gilmore Girls DVD and do my blog surfing and comment responding while this favorite show on mine plays in the background.  When I am done with that I shut off laptop and TV and move on to the book.

Instead I went down stairs all set up to go and called a friend of mine who I hadn’t had the opportunity to talk with lately.  Her and I stayed on the phone for the next two hours.  Then I plunked away a bit online but didnt have a lot of motivation for it.  Instead I watched a little bit of Gilmore, read a little book and planned for my review coming up today and still didnt get into bed until after midnight.

Oh well… now I am here with Coffee Cup kicking myself for not doing my work out but not kicking too hard as I dont want to spill the coffee.

I am calling a do over.  Lets talk about something else.  Who is going to BEA?  BBC?  Let me know if you are!  I am so excited to do both and cant wait to meet those of you who are attending!  🙂  (There.  Thant makes me happy!)

Morning Meanderings…

Oh craziness!  I am up, Coffee Cup in hand and blurry eyed.  We have two little shih tzu dogs that were up and down all night.  I could hear them get off the bed.  Our oldest one Elmo is thirteen and he can not get back on the bed by himself any more so he would wine to get back up.  I was pretty much up every hour.  Of course now as I go to brush my teeth I see they are both sound asleep on the bed.

I am in the office today and then I drive Al at 1 pm to meet up with our other friends who are heading to Minneapolis to catch their flight to Texas tonight.  Our son Justin comes in from Mankato so will meet everyone at the airport.  Tomorrow morning they will fly from Texas to Honduras and will return on the 28th of this month.

For me that means I am renting some chick flicks and reading my evenings away.  🙂  I told Al that I am not even sure I will leave the house this weekend.  Next Friday I am inviting over some of my girl friends to eat yummy chicken fajita and watch movies.

Morning Meanderings…

I am a hurting unit.  I went back to the gym yesterday after being gone a month due to our trip to Florida and then back for a day before we left for Illinois for Brads Navy Graduation.  I went to my weight lifting class yesterday and thins morning feel like I was ran over by a truck.

And then backed over again.

I can barely lift my coffee cup and I am seriously considering a straw.  Ok maybe it’s not that bad…

The weekend was really amazing going on the base and watching the graduation.  I was really emotional and when it was all done to see my son in full uniform, all buff from the workouts and looking mature.  He really grew up in 8 weeks and my heart grew two sizes that day.

Al and I had a wonderful time spending the weekend with him.  His stories of boot camp are quite hilarious.  Brad always was kind of the class clown and people really love his sense of humor but it did get him in some trouble during training.  When we would ask him how long they worked out every day he told us, “Well the group works out for 2 hours…. but since I am DeChantal, I work out extra.

He had to be back at boot camp each night around 8:30 pm.  During the day we were able to take him out to eat, go through town and just spend time talking with him.  He even went to the movie Dear John with his girlfriend, whose family also came to see Brad graduate.

On Valentines Day we drove the 9 hours home. Now I am back and leaving for work in 30 minutes.  Al leaves tomorrow with a group including our younger son Justin (19) for Honduras.  They will be back on the 28th.  I will be busy today helping get Al ready for send-off, and then after tomorrow afternoon it will be pretty quiet around here – but a lot of reading time.  🙂

I have a review coming up in a while and probably one every day to help me catch up on all the books i have read but not reviewed yet.

Morning Meanderings…

Morning.  I am in Illinois.  Today we get to see Brad graduate from Navy Boot Camp.  I am so excited to see him!  He gets to be with us for the weekend, well he has to be back at 8 pm each night but other than that – we get to hang!  Woo hoo!  I am happy and tired and excited and exhausted and…. well you get the picture.  😉

I hope to get on here later today and catch up on comments and do some visiting.  I also have an exciting review I cant wait to post but of course i have to write it first.  Hope everyone has a wonderful day – after this weekend things will get back to normal.

Have a great day everyone!  Any fun weekend plans or weekend reads?

Morning Meanderings…

Good morning bookie people!!!  🙂  I am sooooooo not ready to take off for Illinois today but on the other hand I am soooooo excited to go.  I haven’t seen my son since December 14th when we drove him to Fargo to board the plane for boot camp.  I am wondering how he has changed, what he looks like, what he has learned, what it was like……. I cant wait to talk to him!

I sit here this morning in full facial mask (uhh….yeah, wanted to look nice), hair all twanked out and Coffee Cup being extremely supportive next to me.  The suitcases remain half packed from Florida and I need to change them out a bit for Illinois.  I am trying to think if there is anything I should be bringing and my head is so foggy and tired that I am coming up with nothing.  Perhaps another cup of coffee before we take off…

Reading material is set – I actually have prepped three different sets of audio books for our listening enjoyment:  Swan Thieves by Elizabeth Kostova, Absolute Power by David Baldacci, and Hope For Animals and Their World by Jane Goodall.  It is a 9 hour drive and I want to be set for whatever mood….  🙂

The featured book of the trip is Wounded by Claudia Mair Burney.  I am really excited about this book and am hoping Al will take the first shift of driving so I can slip into it yet this morning.  Back up books are Thirteen Reasons Why by Jay Asher and I Have Seen Him In The Watchfires by Cathy Gohlke.

I will have Lap Top with of course so I will pop in when I can and I have an exciting review coming up yet today for Walking On Broken Glass by Christa Allan.

**I linked all the books today to Amazon so you can check them out – I am an Amazon Associate and that means if you purchased from that link I would receive a small percentage of the sale.

Morning Meanderings…

There really is  something to be  said about sleeping in your own bed.  Everywhere we have stayed the past 12 days have been wonderful, but curling up last night with my pillow and blankets was heaven!

This morning I am sitting here briefly with Coffee Cup and I am thrilled to be drinking out of my cup too!   Last nights book club was so wonderful – a great review of The Hotel On Bitter And Sweet.  Have I mentioned lately how much I love my book club?  We have a great read lined up for March too but I will show that in the next few days.  The review will probably have to go up tomorrow as today is going to be super busy.

Whats on my plate platter?  Well, tomorrow morning at this time we are off for Illinois for our oldest sons Navy Graduation.  Yes, I am home for just a little over a day.  I have laundry going, have a full day in the office, packing again, contacting dog/house sitter for the weekend, books and packages to mail, grabbing some food for our house as I cleaned it out pretty good before we left for Florida – and – at the end of the day my treat is to go through my mailbox books from the last 12 days.

Want to know what 12 days of books can look like?  I am so glad you asked!

Yup.  I asked the house sitter just to put any books that came in the mail in my reading Room.  Well – here they are.  That’s my tonight project with a cup of tea or maybe two.

And finally my birthday yesterday was nice, too busy, but I love friends.  I came home to a package that had been dropped off by a good friend of mine Amy who is also in my book club.  It was a super cute sweater hoodie that has fur in the hood.  She said she seen it and it just screamed “Sheila”.  LOL  She’s right… I love it and I am wearing it today.

I also had a card in the mail and this one made me smile:

Now – that is a good friend!  Have a great day everyone!  I have to hit the ground running with a tight grip on Coffee Cup today.  I have a review coming up in a little bit here today so stop on back – coffee is on and the virtual cinnamon rolls are always hot and fresh out of the oven.
