Morning. I am in Illinois. Today we get to see Brad graduate from Navy Boot Camp. I am so excited to see him! He gets to be with us for the weekend, well he has to be back at 8 pm each night but other than that – we get to hang! Woo hoo! I am happy and tired and excited and exhausted and…. well you get the picture. 😉
I hope to get on here later today and catch up on comments and do some visiting. I also have an exciting review I cant wait to post but of course i have to write it first. Hope everyone has a wonderful day – after this weekend things will get back to normal.
Brrrr. Enjoy that cold in Illinois! =)
We’re planning to see Percy Jackson this weekend and host a birthday party for my little girl. She’ll be 5 this week!
(And on that note, I have a giveaway concerning percy jackson going up today!)
Lydia – it is a lot like the cold in Minnesota 🙂
I signed up for your giveaway – my other son (the reader) is raving about the books.
Congrats to Brad! As the wife on an ex-Navy guy, I thank Brad for his service.
And I can’t wait to read this exciting book review coming up– I wonder what the book is?!?
Have a fun day!
Laura
Hi Laura! I didnt get the review up today as planned – so busy with Brad and so emotional by the time I had a chance to get online my eyes were like there was sand in them! 🙂
Posted it for this morning instead 🙂
Have a great time with your son! Sounds like lots of excitement ahead for you.
It is Laurel – it is fun to see how he has changed!
Yay, sounds like you’re having fun!
I am wordlily – tired, but fun 🙂
Welcome to Illinois! I have attended a couple of graduations on base and not to sound cliche, but it always makes me feel so proud to be an American.
Kristi I get that… they brought all those flags out and I just teared up. What an experience!
Congrats!
I saw your comment about your son in the Navy at my friend’s blog, Shari. She posted about her husband’s last deployment.
I had a feeling then that your son RTC was at Great Lakes. I know that now. I do not live far from there (20mins tops).
This is a huge and important day for him. He should feel proud with a sense of accomplishment…same goes for you.
I remember when I graduated from the Navy Bootcamp…back in 1992. I was exhilarated by all that I had done along with the shear fact that I was getting out the bootcamp. It was extremely hot, my RTC was in Orlando. Anyway, this is a proud day…a fun weekend. I hope you have a great time with your son this weekend!!
ibeeeg – we are having fun and it is fun to be with him after he has not had access to a cell phone or computer for 7 weeks. I am enjoying his humorous stories about bootcamp – what he got in trouble for, what he did well at… etc…. a total lifestyle change!
Thanks for your great comment!
I know you are so proud of your son. Congrats again!
I have my monthly used book sale at my library branch tomorrow. Woo Hoo! I couldn’t ask for a better Valentine! I’m also going to see The Wolfman with my mom and (maybe) Valentine’s Day (the movie). Sunday I’m going to try to finish Shutter Island as I’m seeing the movie on Wednesday.
Have a great weekend Sheila 🙂
Fun weekend plans Michelle – I want to see Shutter Island – I read the book years ago and loved it.
Have a wonderful time at the graduation and with your son this weekend. You must be such a proud mama!
I am Helen! We are having fun – we have Saturday with him and then we drive back on Sunday so I am happy to have this time with him. 🙂
Oh, it’s so cold here in Illinois! Too bad you’re visiting us now — It’s much more pleasant in May/June!
This weekend, I plan to celebrate my 25th (Eek!) birthday on Sunday. I’m hoping that, since that Other Day That’s Not My Birthday is on a Sunday this year, I’ll actually get to eat more than fast food! My husband and I are also going to see a movie that day, but I can’t decide among “Sherlock Holmes,” “Wolfman” or “Percy Jackson.”
Have a great weekend and stay warm!
Happy Birthday Michelle! Pick a great movie! 🙂
It sounds so emotional. I hope you have a lovely time with your son. I can’t imagine not seeing the girls for that long.
It is weird Vivienne not to be bale to pick up a phone and talk to him. That will change in just a few weeks he will be able to use his phone and computer again!
OMG….My daughter-in-law and her family are going to Illinois next month for the same purpose. Her baby brother is graduating.
Have a wonderful time!
diane it is amazing how big these graduations are! Brad’s was over 1,000 and next weeks is another 500. He says that they have a class graduate every Friday. That just blows me away!!
Have a wonderful time with your son! You and Al must be so proud of him! Enjoy your time together! 🙂
Alexia we really are!
Sounds like a great time!! So glad that you get to spend time with your son!! My plans for the weekend of course include reading, maybe some cross stitching, spending time with my family.
Sounds fun Staci! I got a little reading done on the ride here and then on the way home I get to do it again! 🙂 9 hours each way!
Congratulations to your son. My husband is a Navy guy 🙂
Thanks stacybuckeye!
Enjoy the gradation! I’m volunteering at the library with my dog (kids read to her). Then I get to go to Barnes and Nobel to use a gift certificate! Woo hoo!
I love that nanscorner that the kids read to your dog!
How exciting! Enjoy – they grow up so darn fast.
I hear you mari! 🙂
Congratulations, Brad!
Thanks Stephanie! 🙂
