Morning Meanderings…

Sometimes at night I like to go through old comments and link to the blogs.  I am not sure how other blogs work, but WordPress keeps all the comments and I can go back to the very first comment I ever had.  Normally I will go back about 200 comments (10 pages) and randomly visit blogs who have visited me.  Last night I did something I have never done, I went to the very first page of comments I had – 774 pages back.

What was kind of sad was how many of these blogs no longer exist – and really this is only since June 2009.  For the ones that are still out there, it was interesting to see some of the blogs that visited me in my early journey and I had not been on their blog for months nor they on mine.  To me, it kind of felt like going back for a class reunion.  My blog has changed so much from those early days it is not even recognizable.   I had to think if they visit me back, will I be “new” to them?  Will they recognize this blog?

I am curious – does anyone else ever go back through comments and randomly visit blogs?  Does Blogger keep all your comments too?

And for fun – for those of you who have been blogging a while, has your blog changed from the early days?  If so – how?

Morning Meanderings…

Woo!  Busy Monday and I feel like I have come through in flying colors…. coffee cup in hand and Rocky Theme clearly my current theme song.  🙂

Yesterday besides work, interviews, and meetings, I spent my time visiting the Monday What Are You Reading blogs.  I have so much fun with that and if you do not currently do this meme, I would suggest yo give it a try!  we have so much fun!

Also, the wonderful Book Chick City featured my review of Cold Streak by Lewis Aleman.  Stop over there and check out the post.  It was a different genre for me but I enjoyed the read.

Today I have a review coming up and yet tonight I hope to put up a few giveaways that have come my way.  This evening the Bookies meet for the monthly book club and tonights discussion is The Next Thing On My List.   Should be a fun review!  🙂

So tell me – as you are reading this, other than your computer, what is the closest thing(s) to you right now and what time is it where you are at?

Here’s mine:

I am in Minnesota and it is 8:07 am

Closest things to me are:  My Coffee Cup, today’s book for review, and my agenda (which has my library card sitting on top of it.  😉

Morning Meanderings….

Gah!  I swear I have a bug or something…. I have no energy.  Nada.  I had big plans to hit the gym this morning and start my day out right but instead I got up, grabbed Coffee Cup, a cozy blanket, and Lap Top, and meandered to my cozy reading chair.  I need to snap out of this tiredness.

Right now I am contemplating the distance from the chair to the kitchen to make my morning oatmeal.  I am seriously thinking it may not be worth the effort.  (Perhaps this afternoon I will force myself up town to find a vitamin and definitely fruits and vegies).  Maybe when we were traveling last month and ate out so much, all that junky food has killed the energetic me…… I must find and return her to her proper energetic self!  🙂

SO…… today I will be finally posting my review of Lightning Thief Book VS. Lightning Thief Movie….. if you have experienced one or the other – or both – or none, I think you may find what I have to say somewhat amusing…. (hopefully).

Ok… my final meandering moment here this morning I wish to share is I found myself on Twitter this morning and wandered over to The Bookette due to an interesting Twitter post about a giveaway.  (Oh don’t you just love winning books?)  Well the book giveaway is for two signed copies of When I Was Joe by Karen David and I have to say the book has me interested.

Stop over to The Bookette and check it out!

I am off to the kitchen (I think I can I think I can…..) and after breakfast I am hopeful to catch up on some bloggish duties including blog hopping so I hopefully will be over seeing all of you throughout today!

Morning Meanderings….

I am home!  I had a good night staying over in town with my friend Sandi serving with the homeless.  Sandi and I almost always take the Thursday night together during our quarterly serving week and we are like teenagers talking late into the night about anything… and everything.

A bonus was when my son showed up from college and surprised us where we were staying and hung out for a couple hours.

Today I have little projects to catch up on (you know the ones that are constantly put off and put for an embarrassing amount of time…)  I have an overdue library book (YIKES!) and a book to pick up, I have payments to make, and dinner to plan.  I have books to donate and packages to mail.  This today is my mission…

HOWEVER… for starters, I have Coffee Cup in hand and I need to spend some time with all of you this morning.  I want to run out and visit blogs and I want to get a book review written so I can start catching up.  No big weekend plans here other than finishing up our serving week so I should have some catch up time.  🙂

How about you – it’s Friday…. the weekend is stretched out before you.  Any plans?

Morning Meanderings…

My late night blogging hasn’t been so much as of lately.  Busy schedules, long hours have left me pretty shot at the end of the day and my vision of posting my February recap and winners the last couple nights resulted in me staring at the screen and then going to bed.  😉

So – now…… morning…. with COFFEE….  I am going to do the February recap 🙂

February was an exciting month with J Kaye passing the torch that is called It’s Monday, What Are you reading, my way on February 8th.  What an honor!

Wordlily!!!

Have a great day everyone!  I have another busy one and tonight is my second night I stay in town with those in the homeless program.  I will try to get on a bit later and hopefully will have a review up as well.  Otherwise the weekend (starting tomorrow) is a little more freeing as after today I do not work again until Monday.  (YEAH!!!)

Morning Meanderings…

This morning…. I am studying Coffee Cup and wondering if there is a way I can put my face to the cup instead of lifting it to my mouth.  Perhaps if I had a straw….

I am tired.

The crazy busy schedule between work, hiring, meetings, volunteering, and keeping a home is taking me through the ringer.  Last Friday I requested for and was approved to work 10 more hours a week at our Church Office.  Starting a 4th service in April I needed to be able to do my job well and not feel like I am always playing catch up.  The hours were approved and now I am in the adjustment phase.  🙂

I feel as though I lost my super hero cape….

So – I was going to put the February winners up last night and …. uh…… yeah.  Didnt happen.  However, tonight Al has dinner with friends to share his Honduras trip and I will have a few hours this evening to myself and that is my goal for that time – to do a little blog catch up.

If you haven’t seen me visiting lately, I apologize….. I will get there.  I enjoy visiting all of you who visit me – plus I need to get around to all the Monday Memers too.

A little later today I have a review coming up of a wonderful book called Still.  It is by a Minnesota Author.  Stay tuned 🙂

Morning Meanderings….

Good Morning *stated still a little groggy* I was not on-line very much yesterday – or for the past few days really with our serving week for the homeless, catching up with a few friends, and AL coming home from Honduras.

Yup….. Al’s home.  (I almost dropped coffee cup with the little dance happening here)

I have another pretty full day… honestly a pretty full week…. but I am going to get on when I can as I have a lot to catch up on.  One of my favorite things to do each week is connect with those who link to the It’s Monday, What Are You Reading meme and I have hardly grazed it….. no worries, I am still traveling my way through…. Coffee Cup in hand.  I am just a bit slower this week.  🙂

Tonight I will post February comment winners.  I was going to last night and between a meeting and catching up with Al on his trip until about 11 pm I didn’t get it done.

In bookish news….  Have you see or heard of this book?

Quentin Jacobsen has spent a lifetime loving the magnificently adventurous Margo Roth Spiegelman from afar. So when she cracks open a window and climbs back into his life — dressed like a ninja and summoning him for an ingenious campaign of revenge — he follows. After their all-nighter ends, and a new day breaks, Q arrives at school to discover that Margo, always an enigma, has now become a mystery. But Q soon learns that there are clues — and they’re for him. Urged down a disconnected path, the closer he gets, the less Q sees the girl he thought he knew.

This one showed up in my Daily Dose from Powell Books and I liked the sound of it.  Any books hit your radar lately that you are hoping to take a closer look at?

Morning Meanderings…

Good morning!  I had a great time last night when two of my girlfriends came over to have chicken fajitas and watch a  movie with me.  They are so fun!  We celebrated my birthday since I was traveling during that time in February and they surprised me with a pedicure certificate!

I just love those friends that you can talk about anything with – and that’s what I have in these two.  I think we all seriously laughed until we cried.  We talked, watched funny YouTube commercials, ate great food – and lots of chocolate!  (Yikes!)  After the movie we talked and talked  until almost midnight.

This morning I am still smiling with coffee cup in hand and so thankful for friends like these.

Moving on – this morning I have a baby shower to go to and then I think I am going to leave the day commitment free.  I am extremely tired right now after having a few really busy days in a row.  Tomorrow it will start up again as I prepare for our week of serving the homeless in our area.

Tomorrow morning I will set up the rooms for the guests to stay in, and then after Church my friend Karol and I are going to go do the shopping for the staples they will need through the week.  At 4:30 I will be back there to stay overnight and then by the time I come home at 8 am on Monday – AL will be back home!  🙂  WOO HOO!

So yeah…. even as I write this I am thinking uh…. yeah….. take it easy today, the rest of the week is going to be nuts. The book that will be joining my weekend is The Crown Conspiracy by Michael Sullivan.

I want to mention really quick here that I have signed up over at Galleysmith for the Literary Road Trip.  What Michelle has going on is that you can link to her fun meme of reading authors from your state and then each week she will link your  Road Trip Posts to her blog.  I called dibs on Minnesota!  I have a few books waiting for review that are Minnesota Authors.   Anyway – go check it out, your state may still be available.  🙂

Any big weekend plans for you?  What book will be joining you?

Morning Meanderings…

It is Friday!  F R I D A Y!!!  Woo Hoo!  I had a long and busy Thursday and did not get back into my house until 7:30 last night.  On the bright side, I accomplished a lot yesterday and there is something to be said for a productive day.  Seriously…. it makes me feel…. taller.  🙂  Even Coffee Cup thought so…

Today though is work all day and then fun tonight!  I will be in my office today catching up on some projects.  Then this afternoon I am interviewing a girl to work in our business office.  After that – let the games begin!

Tonight my friends Heidi and Sara are coming over and we are having chicken fajita and watching a movie or two.  Just a low-key hang out night.  There is a group of us that tries to get together once a month and who ever can make it makes it.  It was my turn to pick for February and here I come scraping in a t the last second due to a BUSY month.

This will be fun and relaxing…. and I am sooooooo looking forward to it.

What do you like to do when you get together with your friends?

Morning Meanderings

No time for hopping around this morning – I have a builders meeting at 8:30 am on the other side of town.  Coffee Cup are not so leisurely this morning!  🙂

I do want to take a moment to welcome Rachel who has now taken on J Kayes Blog, which is now called Home Girls Book Blog. Pop on over and welcome her, I think she will do a wonderful job!

I am off to the meeting and then to the office, kind of a weird office day, I will be there only for a short time today and then I am taking my Administrative Assistant out for a catching up and planning lunch.  Should be a good day!

Oh…. and did you see my post on BEA (Book Expo America)?
