Morning Meanderings….

Happy Wednesday!  This morning I am meeting our new office person in the office to get her started and then off to do my job at the church.

As I sit here drinking in my coffee this morning and trying to think of what is new and exciting over here – I was reminded that I really haven’t talked about the April 10th Readathon.  That’s right, mark your calendars, grab your books, shut off your phones, and lock your doors!

I have experienced the last two readathons and really found them to be fun.  If you have time stop over at the Dewey’s readathon site and nose around.  You will see last falls challenges and get a good taste of what happens during the 24 hours.

Is it all reading?  No- there are Mini Challenges throughout the day.

Whats a Mini Challenges?  It is a small task that you pop over to a designated blog and perform if you want to.

The mini challenges could be a book trivia game, or name that cover, or tasking you to write a post on a book that really meant a lot to you and why, etc…

You choose the ones you wish to do, pass on those you do not.  Every challenge has a winner!  Woo hoo!  Last year I won the new (at the time) Lost Symbol by Dan Brown.

Currently we are looking for challenge hosts.  Stop over to the Dewey’s Readathon and see what we are looking for.  If you have an idea, be sure to fill out the form.

Ok I am off to do what I do!  Have a super great day!  I would love to hear if yo have participated in a readathon before or are planning to do this one.  If so – do you have any books in mind for the event?

Morning Meanderings…

Ok…. this is what my mornings are really like….

LOL… If you seen my Saturday post you would have read that I picked up the Flip Video Recorder.  Now you poor readers are subject to not only my sad attempts at video blog (VLOG) but also my odd sense of humor….

Today I am at work all afternoon and then tonight is “tantalizing Tuesday”.  My hubby and I decided to give different days themes and Tuesdays are his one day a week that he gets to choose whats for dinner.  I always pick the meals.  This is kind of fun except me chose Tatar tot hot dish…. ok, that’s not hard….. when he added a spinach salad with a raspberry glaze and chocolate mousse with banana slices for dessert.

Good grief….LOL

He says he has been thinking about it for two days so I guess that is cool and he works hard so I am going to create this.  Just wait until bike ride Saturday which means we bike ride for as long as I choose 🙂

For now – off to the gym before work (have to squeeze that in when I can!)

It’s Tuesday – whats on your agenda?

Morning Meanderings…

I never once made it back on-line yesterday after I took off for St. Cloud.  I didn’t anticipate it taking the whole day, but it did! Productive though because Colleen and I had a lot of fun chatting the hour drive there and back, we purchased all our needs for the home show this upcoming weekend and had lunch at Red Lobster.  Fabulously yummy.

Once home, late afternoon, AL and I went to Best Buy to pick out a computer for our new Office Assistant that starts this Monday.  We were there over 2 hours and when I got home I was so tired I didn’t even check my lap top…. instead I read and finished the delightful, 13 Hours.  (Review will be up today)

Today’s Morning Meandering is going to cover three winners.  First up is yesterdays review and giveaway of My Shoes And I.  I had so much reading this book and am excited that the author has graciously offered a signed copy of the book to one lucky commenter from yesterdays post.  Coffee Cup and I pulled our Random.Org…. fired it up and it picked commenter #4:

ellie

YAY ellie!  Woo hoo!  I have emailed her this morning and once I have her address I will connect with the author to have the book mailed to her.  🙂

Next I have three sets of The Swan Thieves on Audio by Elizabeth Kostova to give to three lucky commenters.  I have been listening to these CD’s in my vehicle every time I drive anywhere.  I just started the last CD yesterday so I will soon have a review on this.

Our winners of the audio sets are:

Cindi

JoJo

Lydia

Woo Hoo Winners!  I have emailed you all this morning (well, Coffee Cup and I), and once I hear back from you with addresses and shouts of joy I will forward your info on to the publisher to have these moving towards you! 🙂

And finally, I have had so much fun with the “Oh Snap!  Guess What I Got? post.  That was the post with all my treasures (my precious!) from the library sale I attended a week ago.  I had a giveaway idea to have all of you tell me which book you would love to own and that would be the one I would read first and once read I would pass on to the person who had asked me for it on the comment list.

This is exciting because this will actually motivate me to read these books!  🙂  So using Random.org this morning, the person whose comment won is:

Ryan

and Ryan had chosen the book Titanic 2012!

Congratulations Ryan!  I am a huge Titanic nerd – love all things Titanic, have several movies and books on the topic and even a newspaper replica of the front page of the sinking of the Titanic.  I know I know,  could I scream dork any louder?  LOL

I will read this one as soon as I can and pass it on to Ryan.  This idea was so fun I think I will use it again after I complete this book to have you all choose my next read out of the sale box as well.  🙂

This morning I am hanging our right here for a while with Coffee Cup.  I have a review to write, blogs to visit, a challenge to work on….  I ran so hard this week I have decided to hit the brakes this morning.  And then kick it in gear again this afternoon.

Any fun  plans this weekend?

Morning Meanderings…

This morning I was thinking about the first morning meandering….  it started as just a morning that I just wanted to chat… not review.  And it was never meant to be an ongoing thing….

but then…

I received emails about the meanderings… how people liked them and looked forward to them… and I happily agreed that I liked them too…. so this morning as I type this, the 156th Morning Meandering with Coffee Cup beside me, I encourage you to read the first… the original….  Morning Meandering.

Have a super fab day….. I am working out early early early and then off to St. Cloud with my friend Colleen to make purchases for next weekends Builders Show.  We are going to do lunch hopefully somewhere fantastically delicious and then back to town this afternoon.

Morning Meanderings…

Ooh!  I slept late….. I have like a sinus cold going on and it has knocked me down the past 15 hours.  I did not get half the things done yesterday that I wanted to.

However in recap – I had so much fun being a part of Cathy’s Scene Of The Blog yesterday.  Thank you again to Cathy for hosting me, my reading/reviewing space, and apparently my dog too….LOL

Today I am taking my sorry sneezy self to work for about 30 minutes before I need to run to a builders meeting.  We are one week out from the home show so I really need to attend this meeting.   To execute this will be a triumph of its own since I am sneezing every couple minutes….

Book reviews to catch up on, a few giveaways to do….. I think I need just a weekend of blog time to get organized around here!  🙂

I must get moving…. Coffee Cup needs a refill and I must make myself presentable for human contact!  Have a super fab morning everyone!  I do have a review up in a few hours.  🙂

I am finishing up The 13th Hour.  What book is in your hand today?

Morning Meanderings….

Oh what a beautiful morning…. oh what a beautiful day!

Here’s what  is happening in my little corner (not even a corner really – more like a “cornerette”)”….

1.  I won an Amazon gift card from Tia from Tia’s Comfy Place!   An Amazon Gift Card…. that’s like Gold!  That’s like Gollum going after the ring in The Lord Of The Rings…. “My precious!

2.  I think I found an office person for our business!  Squee!!!  After interviewing people for three weeks I think we have a winner!  🙂

3.  Today Cathy at Kittling Books has me featured today at Scene Of The Blog.  Double Squee!  Please stop by and check it out.  I would love that and will be commenting at her blog as well as here today. Cathy rocks!  🙂

Please click on the Scene Of The Blog Logo here to go to the post at Cathy’s….

Have a great day everyone!  I have a few winners to clear up later today and I think another giveaway coming up too!

Oh and Happy St Patrick’s Day!

Morning Meanderings…

It’s Tuesday and by the time you are reading this I will be gone.

Ok – now that sounded a bit morbid. Not gone as in “gone”… but at the gym. My day is full and this is the only time I can get in my workout today. I have a full day at work, interviews to do this afternoon and a meeting tonight. Busy Tuesday.

This morning I thought I would chat about the last two movies I have seen, Shutter Island and Alice In Wonderland.

A week ago Sunday I went with Al, Justin, and Chance to Shutter Island. I read this book years ago and loved it. LOVED it. I couldn’t wait to see what they did with the movie. And I suppose, I could say the movie was ok. I don’t know if I was hoping for something too incredible – from a memory of a book I have not read in years, but the movie just didn’t hit the spot for me. It was average and I think the twist at the end was a bit different. I think it twisted… and then twisted again.

On this past Sunday I went with Chance to Alice In Wonderland. This one was more of a default movie. I wanted to spend time with Chance (our Kinship Partner) but didn’t have a lot of time and didn’t really know what we could do. So I checked the movie theater and this is the only one that looked like we would both may enjoy and was age appropriate (he is 14).
Whats funny about this movie is that the sell for me was really to see Johnny Depp and how he would take his role to the next level. What surprised me was that the character I thoroughly was impressed with Helena Bonham Carter, the Red Queen. I seriously thought she stole the show – and made the movie for me.

There is something also about Alice.  Mia Wasikowska has a look about her… always serious always thinking…. she appears to be a deep character and she plays Alice well.

Overall, I have to admit I was more impressed with Alice In Wonderland (which I didn’t really want to see) then Shutter Island (which I did want to see).

How about you, have you seen any of the movies out now or do you hope to see any of them?

Morning Meanderings…

Good Morning all from me in a facial mask (hey you have got to exfoliate when you can!)  and Coffee Cup steaming next to me.

Today I want to talk about word verification.  Is it just me or are these words getting longer?  Seriously…. some I can’t even do because they are so pressed together I do not know if it is a “b” or a “l and o”.   Check these out (I captured these in the wild, trying to invade my fellow bloggers):

I kind of feel like the Crocodile Hunter here…. “Crikey!  Look at the size of this word!”

I think you get the picture (My Crocodile Hunter impression again): “It’s like they’re multiplying!  These I was lucky enough to capture – but Crikey!  They are everywhere!”

Ryan over at Wordsmithonia runs a meme called Word Balderdash.  Every Thursday, Ryan as well as any brilliant bloggers who care to join him, take the best of the best word verification they have encountered from the week and make up fake definitions for them.  Being a wordy – I love this!  And if you haven’t checked this out, please do.  Ryan’s weekly post is almost always guaranteed to bring a LOL seriously out of me!  🙂

So that’s me….  I am reading away today and will have at least one review up later 🙂

Morning Meanderings…

Hello bookish people!  Are you ready for the weekend?  I am!

Yesterday was super busy but at the end of the day I felt good.  I did double work outs (morning and afternoon), ate right so I am off to a good start on the 3-1-1, the hair cut is good…. and I forgot (forgot!) to tell you that yesterday was our spring Library book sale!

I hope to have pictures up tomorrow but somewhere in my recent travels… I have lost my camera charger and therefore have a camera with no “oomph” whatsoever.  It wont even turn on.  I will remedy that today when I go purchase a new charger.

The sale was good, I had a lot of fun standing in line and talking books with people.  One lady by me is in a non fiction book club but she says they never discuss the book.

“What???”

Yup.  That’s what she said.  They choose books, but they just get together for social time.

For the first time ever I was not in the first group they let in.  They only allow so many people in at a time so the sale isnt overly crowded.  I was 5 people from the door when they made the cut off.  GAH!  I drank my coffee, chatted up books and thought about how I should have brought my business card to this captive bookish audience.

When I did get in – all books are 50 cents, paperback, hardcover….  I didn’t find that one treasure… but did walk out with $15 worth of books that look really good.  (Again, hopefully a picture tomorrow). Amy from my book  club however did find treasure when she found our book club read that we have just picked on Tuesday, Little Bee.  In Hard Cover for 50 cents.  And – I was in the sale before her and missed it.  LOL

Got to inhale my coffee here and run – I have a gym date, and today I am going to tan ( to pretend it is warm out) and get a pedicure with a gift certificate I received from my friends for my birthday.  A fun morning and then back to work this afternoon.

Any fun weekend plans for you?

Morning Meanderings….

Ok….. seriously….  you should see my hair.

Why is that your hair can one day be just wonderful …

and then suddenly the next day you wake up and it is too long, and doesn’t style right and well seriously….

My hair has been that way for over a week now.  So today – yes today, at 5 pm, I am getting it cut and highlighted and I am beyond thrilled.  I am actually bringing a picture of me from last April when I thought my hair was super cute…. (don’t laugh….. have you never done this?)  I want my hair lady to take me back a  year.  🙂

So any way – I am starting my morning at the gym because that’s the way I roll.  OR – that’s the way I want to roll… and I need to get back into good habits.  My friend Jennifer and I are starting a program today that we are calling the 3 -1 – 1.  Based not only on the date… but also on 3 good meals, 2 healthy snacks a day…. 30 days to get to 4-1-1, and see our results.  Since 3-1-1  adds to 5, we have to work out for a minimum of 5 hours a week.

So here’s to new starts – better fitness habits, and hopefully good hair.

Spring is coming – any thing you are planning to get a jump-start on the season?
