Morning Meanderings…

a big improvement

Mornin’. I think this morning I have the whole look going on of the tired out wild hair looking coffee drinker.  I just don’t feel so well this morning…. sore throat, bit of a headache…..

First day back in the office so “yay” (I say this weekly and sarcastically – ha ha)

I did however blog hop yesterday and I have a book discovery from a blog that I think is new to me as well.  Over at Savidge Reads (I was admiring the blog layout too!) I found a review on a book called The Girls Ocoffeee 2f Slender Means by Muriel Spark.  The cover caught my eye… not sure what it was but the sherbet orange coloring works for me.  I liked the review and was interested in this author who I have never read.

Pop on over to this review today at Savidge Reads and see for yourself.   As for me, I am going to haul myself to the office and see what I can accomplish at least for the first half of the day…. I have Bookies Book Club tonight in which we are reading The Glass Castle by Jeanette Walls.

Late Morning Meanderings…

a big improvementMy goal was to get up this morning and write my online journal of our Honduras trip.  That did happen.  I did start this morning.  In fact I started at about 7 am.  And not here I am at 12:56 pm…. and I have just now finished.

It really is hard to put into words this experience but I always do try.  I know I leave quite a bit out…. a lot of the moments when we laugh hard or tease one another, or just want to cry out with frustration.  For me, being the team leader always seems to wipe me out a bit more than when I am one of the team members.  I think it is because I am wired to work hard to keep everyone happy and  to try to keep things smooth along the way.  In ways I wish I wasnt wired that way – and in other ways I am glad that I am sensitive enough to want to do that.

So here, is the link to the journal and pictures of the Honduras AFE trip.  I hope you will take a little time to see what we did and what we experienced.  Honduras Afe Trip November 2009.

Morning Meanderings…

Friday.  Early start today – we are still in Honduras and being picked up today at 7:15 am to go to see the other area I haa big improvementve worked in while I have bee here in the past Maneulito.  I love going there as I know most of the kids and I am excited for the three people with me who are first timers here. After that we will go up to the Valley Of Angels which is our one chance to shop this week.  Its fun to pick up a couple little things but I am always looking for a book…. I love to get books from other parts of the world!  We will see what I find.

We fly back on Saturday!  This time has gone fast!

A quick update…. I see yesterday I even put the wrong day…LOL.  One more full work day today.  Its hard to get time alone to write…. moments like that are rare.  🙂

Tonight we will have dinner at Jeoney’s – that will be an experience… real Honduran food.  There will be pictures.  I have to run – but will be back and posting my reviews, atc… this Sunday and probably still popping in yet this week.

Have a great day!

Morning Meanderings…

a big improvementTuesday in Honduras.  Last night we went out on the streets and gave food and water to the children who live on the streets.  This is my 6th time doing the streets and it never gets easier.

Today we are back on the work site.  I am sitting here before breakfast putting up a quick post.  We are about half way through our trip.  Lots left to do.  Talk to you all soon!  Thanks for hanging out and yes  I am getting a little reading done, currently reading Jantsen’s Gift by Pam Cope.

Kids and me in Tegucigalpa Honduras

Morning Meanderings…..

I have not done much meandering through the blogesphere these past few days, but as you know, I have meandered a big improvementacross the country.  Currently I am sitting in the guest house in Tegucigalpa , Honduras.  We will be eating breakfast soon (I think it is pancakes) and lots of fresh fruit.

At 7:30 we go to AFE where we are working on a school that is being built for children who live in the dump.  I group of us are offsite working on an addition on a home for a girl who needs a place to live.  I am on the off site team.  It is hard to describe the conditions and when I have time I will add a few pictures on here.

I will be back to commenting and hopping around to all your blogs when I get home on Sunday.  Thanks for checking here – there are postings going on daily from some great people who are helping me out.  🙂

Morning Meanderings…

a big improvement

This morning I am waking up in Texas!  Texas!  Any of you out there from Texas?  I have a 9 am flight from here to Honduras… we should land around noon in Tegucigalpa.

I discovered a new blog last weekend called Educating Petunia.  Love the title!  While hopping around the blogesphere yesterday I found a book that was reviewed there called Green Angel by Alice Hoffman.  Check out this cover:

aWow huh?  And the review sounded really good too.  Sometimes I feel like I am the last person on earth that has not yet read Alice Hoffman.  What is up with that?

Stop over to Educating Petunia’s and check out this book as well as the blog!  I know I will be back to see what else is posted!  🙂

Morning Meanderings…

It is Saturday Morning and I am leaving  Texas and on my way to Honduras.  In a few hours Julie will be here from My a big improvementOwn Little Corner Of The World to take care of things while I am in flight.  I will try to check in the mornings if I have internet access to give you morning updates – otherwise please enjoy the great bloggers who are stopping in this week to water my plants and chat with you!  🙂

Happy Halloween!!!

Morning Meanderings…

a big improvement5 hours to go and I am sitting almost like my skin in buzzing with the things I am completing.  Its all going well and currently Coffee Cup and I have just sat down to do a few blog visits while the laundry is going, the chicken is baking for one of the suppers I am leaving Al for the week, and the coffee cup is brewing a pot of Chocolate Covered Cherry blend as I ran out of my standard Folgers.

I feel good.

I stayed in bed a little later today to finish the last few pages of  The Help.  In a word?  Delicious.

Well… I have much to do.  I will be in Texas tonight (late night) we should get to or hotel anout 11 pm.  If not totally wiped I will pop in (I am attempting to bring lap top with me but not sure I will be able to use it in Honduras where we are staying or not.  They have a computer there but internet connection can be iffy.  We will see…

Couple more posts yet today and of course the sticky post to tell you all the exciting things that are going to go on for the next 8 days!
