First Book Of The Year 2019

2019

Year 6.  I LOVE First book so much.  This tradition for me goes further back than the 6 years I have opened up to the reading world here on Book Journey.  I am THRILLED to be doing it again and thank you to those who have messaged me to ask if I will be doing it again.

The answer is…

Of course we are doing it.

My life has changed a bit – I may not be blogging as steady as I used to and I have moved to a more diverse site where I can share other things beyond books – check me out at I Guess I Am Doing This (also a work in process… but I am not giving up ;P )

Here is what First Book is.  The first book of the New Year should be:

A.  A coveted book that you have wanted to read but have just not found the time.

B.  A delicious favorite… one you have read before, but crave to read again.

C.  Really whatever you want it to – it is after all YOUR First Book Of the year.

Make it AWESOME.

Then, once you have picked what it will be, email me a picture of you with the book (send it to sdechantal@gmail.com).  This adds to the excitement of the First Book.  On January 1st I will post all the pics in a collage format of all of you around the world that are doing First Book.  I do hope you will join me – friends, family, fellow book lovers… this event each year and your willingness to do this with me makes my heart smile.  🙂
Here is some (yes some…  so many participate it is incredible!)  of what came in last year:

Remember – this should be the first book you plan to be reading into the New Year.  Yes, you can start it New Years Eve ;P  You can send the picture (sdechantal@gmail.com) anytime between now and New Years Eve so I can prep the collage.  Thanks everyone… having this project to work on makes the New Year fun.

  1. So glad you are doing this…I was just thinking about you and if you would be doing this and what book I am going to select! Will get my photo to you in a few days 🙂

  2. OMGOSH, I can believe this event is coming around soon. I almost forgot about it. I will have to think carefully about what will be my first book of the year. Do I read a book in a series that I’m working up to or should I read a book of a totally new series?

  3. Very excited to see this post pop up Shelia. I’m in!
Will you also be reviving your One Word meme? It was such a lovely reflective, thoughtful post.

  4. Glad to see you are doing this and still blogging under your new site.
I plan to get my First Book post up this week and will email you a picture then.
    Thanks for continuing to host.

Hmmmm... what do you think?
