Elizabeth from Silver’s Reviews here, checking in on the blog again while Sheila is away. Sheila and I both loved THE HOTEL ON THE CORNER OF BITTER AND SWEET, and Sheila in her usual style went way over the top on her book review by adding videos, photos, and background information.
My review of this wonderful book was when I first started blogging so it isn’t as thorough as my reviews are now, but regardless, THE HOTEL ON THE CORNER OF BITTER AND SWEET is a book you don’t want to miss reading.
Wouldn’t you agree that Sheila and I both have awesome tastes in books? 🙂
I read this, too, but have a different opinion.
It was because of all the rave reviews of HOTEL ON THE CORNER OF BITTER AND SWEET that I read the book. But, while I don’t consider it a waste of my time, I have to admit that I was bored by the many flashbacks to 1942 with Henry’s bigoted father and nasty classmates at his “all-white” school where he went “scholarshiping” at his father’s insistence. I also found the flashbacks to be too slow and predictable.
Thanks for your thoughts, techeditor.
It’s always good to see different opinions.
Good Morning!!
Have you read HOTEL ON THE CORNER OF BITTER AND SWEET? Did you love the book too?
Mr. Ford’s second book, SONGS OF WILLOW FROST is equally as good.
I am leaving the link to my review if you want to check it out.

Blog sitting has been such fun. Your idea about the guest posts was amazing, Sheila. I got to know everyone so much better, and I found some new blogs to visit. Thanks for asking me to be a part of it.
Looking forward to your return. Enjoy your last few days.
Elizabeth
This was a book that I meant to read several years ago, but you know how that goes. Best intentions. I’ll get to it at some point.
Hope that vacation Sheila is having has been wonderful and aren’t you all looking forward to some fabulous pictures? I know I am. 🙂
Elizabeth, you’ve been a double sitter. Good for you and thanks!
Yes…I had to come back. 🙂
I hope you get to read the book and his new book too.
Thanks for stopping by, Kay.
I have had plans to read this one…and it has been on my list for a long while…thanks for reminding me of how much I want to read it, Elizabeth!
You will enjoy it, Laurel.
Thanks for stopping by.
Hello, again, Elizabeth! I read (and loved) this book as well. I even interviewed the author, Jamie Ford. 🙂
Pretty neat you were able to interview Jamie Ford.
Good to hear you loved the book too.
Thanks for stopping, Suko.
Pop in – today we have an early excursion (6:45 am) and then are dropped at the airport afterwards for our long journey home. It has been a great time away but I am ready to come home after these 17 days away. I loved Hotel On The Corner Of Bitter and Sweet! Great book to discuss Elizabeth! 🙂
Have a safe trip home. It has been lovely blog sitting, but we miss you.
Hi Elizabeth, this title has been on my TBR list for ages. Sounds like I should move it up the list.
Safe travels, Sheila!
I hope you get to read it soon and let us know what you think.
Thanks for stopping, Mary.
I read this one when it first came out. I really enjoyed it and recommend it also to others. Thanks for reminding me of it 🙂
I love reminders.
Thanks for stopping, View From My Home.
Never heard of this book, but I love the title and cover 🙂
I love covers. 🙂
Thanks for stopping, writersideup.
An amazing title, I know you should never judge a book by its cover but I’d have been so disappointed if this hadn’t been an enjoyable read.
Glad to know you liked the book too.
Thanks for stopping, Tracy.
