Hi everyone! Welcome to my 4 years of blogging blogiversary – this is the actual day, June 9th, when I officially became a blogger.
I never dreamed when I started writing reviews on line in 2009 that 4 years later I would still be doing it. Blogging has really changed my life in positive ways that I would never have expected :
- Writing reviews for a local magazine
- being on a Twin Cities Panel
- Going to the Book Expo for the past 4 years
- Becoming President of The Friends Of The Library
- Being on the city board for the library
Now you might think that some of these things I would have done without the blog but I dot think that is true. Through this community of bloggers I have learned the value of reading and sharing what we read. I have also read post after post of libraries and book stores closing, so I have become an even stronger advocate for the written word. All that I owe to this little space on the internet that I call Book Journey.
For those of you who have come to my party the last few years, the basics are pretty much the same… to be entered for the great giveaways (pictured below), simply leave me a comment here telling me how you traveled to the party, and what virtual gift or food item you brought with you: For example, you may have rollerbladed to the party and brought with you foot long licorice vines … (really be as crazy as you want… I love the fun imaginative comments!) For a little bonus if you would like to share how long we have known each other (blog or otherwise) and if you are brand new to the house of Book Journey – feel free to share that too! I love new friends!
My party will go for 24 hours so this post will go up at 12:01 am on June 9 (central time) and stay up until midnight. Every comment will be entered into the random drawings and winners (using random.org)will be announced here on Monday morning on Its Monday What Are You Reading Post.

A lamington is a dessert of Australian origin. It consists of squares of sponge cake coated first in a layer of traditionally chocolate icing, then in desiccated coconut. Lamingtons are sometimes served as two halves with a layer of cream or strawberry jam between…mmmmmmm

Four years already? Wow, congratulations! I’ve been blogging since 2009 too but I’m all online, I think the biggest thing is all the offline stuff you do!
I’ve got a really neat door at my house and I set it to CatTale’s books in downtown Brainerd. I brought a lasagne and a veggie platter with red onion dip from Knott’s Berry Farm and Hidden Valley ranch dressing.
Not sure how long I’ve known you. . . I came last year year so at least that long!
Ahhh….. very clever finding one of the book stores in Brainerd! 😀 And thank you, I had not really thought of my offline presence that way before… that’s kind of cool 😀

I arrive at your part from the Netherlands, of course I’ll arrive on a ship just like my 17th century ancestors and I’l bring with me a huge bunch of tulips, some Dutch biscuits like stroopwafels and for everyone who does not like sweets; Dutch gin (jenever)

I’ve been blogging since January 2007, about 6-1/2 years now. I’ve been coming here for two or three years, but not since you first began. I arrived at this party on my flying carpet, managing to land without banging into the side of your house. Quite proud of myself for learning to drive this thing, actually. I’ve brought homemade Oreo cookie balls covered in almond bark made with white chocolate, and I’ve been eyeing that package #1 that you put together: 4 books, a sample chapter, swag, and book bag. Humpf, if people walk on it, the magic carpet will shiver and shrug, making folks decide to walk around it. But there it is, nicely rolled up over in that corner. Oh, you’re surprised I’m still here? Yeah, I’m one of those partiers who stays and stays and stays, especially when I’m having fun.

Here you go… -hands flower centerpiece promised- … Oh and I couldn’t not bring snacks! Here, the hot wings you always wanted to try! What’s that? Oh, the sauce… No worries! I’ve got these fashionable little bibs that we can pass out/tie on that make you look like a character from your favorite books. Cool, right?

I will arrive on my brand new Spyder ST Three-Wheeled motorcycle (I saw one of these on the road yesterday and I’m petrified of riding a regular motorcycle, but I really think I could ride one of these 😉 ). I will be bringing you a cake that I learned to make in my new cake decorating class. It is a cake decorated with all your favorite literary characters and authors. I call it the Bookish Dinner Party cake. I think we will be sad to cut into it, but it must be done. 🙂
I started blogging just a couple of months after you and then I think we met within the first couple of months of my starting. It’s hard to believe I’ve been visiting your blog for almost four years now. I don’t get by as often as I used to, but I always enjoy your posts. You are a fun and sweet person, Sheila. Wow! Congrats on running such a successful blog for four years now! I’m relatively new to the blogging world and your blog (I think I started reading it back in Jan of this year) but I absoutely love hearing about all the things you get up to bookwise and I love some of your reviews! It’s because of some of your audiobook reviews that I listened to my first audiobook this past week and loved it. It adds an extra special element to the book, so I’m looking forward to experience a heap more 🙂
AS to your party, being from the Land Down Under, I felt it only necessary to ride my pet Kangaroo to your party 🙂 I left last week because it was a long journey… and he had to learn to swim sometime too! As for the food, I’m bringing some of my friends amazing oreo cupcakes…you haven’t lived till you’ve tried them!

Kringle is a Scandinavian pastry, a Nordic variety of pretzel, which arrived with Roman Catholic monks in the 13th century, especially in Denmark. It developed further into several kinds of sweet, salty or filled pastries.
I started following you when looking for a review of gone girls ending. I have hung around ever since I paddle boarded over with a bag of pistachios.
Oh yeah…. that Gone Girl spoiler page has been quite a hit. 😀 Paddle boarding is awesome and I adore pistachio’s! You can park the paddle boat next to the ship Bettina arrived in 😀

Nice! Two kangaroos now and I think an elephant. I have a special place in the yard for you to park and with all the rain there is plenty of water for the animals to drink.

Whew!!! I finally made it!! I started my journey to the party this morning on a bicycle built for two. I was hoping to find some company along the way. It’s early and you have a long day of celebrating ahead of you so I brought a hearty breakfast complete with eggs, homemade toast, sausage, hash browns and a lovely fruit salad. Breakfast really is the most important meal of the day. Congratulations on another year in the blogging world! I look forward to seeing what is going on in your world every single day. I found your blog by accident two years ago and I LOVE it. Especially while in the process of moving from California to Wisconsin and I felt like you were a constant wen all the craziness was happening!!! I just started running recently in an attempt to make this over 40 body shape up at least a little bit! so I ran over (can I shower quick?) I brought diet coke (as coffee is to you..diet coke is to me) and I brought chocolate cookies..homemade of course

I’m an old reader… you can take that any way you like! lol I’ve been blogging books for almost four years and know I’ve been reading Book Journey for most of them.
Leslie you have lots of bird friends so I have a feeling they will plant you right on the grund – gently of course 🙂 Coffee and brownies are perfect – later tonight I think we will have a camp fire and sing book to movie theme songs 😀
I forgot to mention that the birds were staying for the party so they could bring me back home. They don’t eat much and bird poop is good fertilizer! If we’re going to sing you’ll have to toss some Amaretto in my coffee… I’m a horrible singer and will need a little encouragement.

Since I live in Minnesota, I will speed walk to the party carrying Swedish crackers I made with my mother’s recipe. A new winery just opened up near me, so I will be bringing Ballet, one of their wines.
I discovered your blog during the last year. I have read so many of the older books you have suggested. Right now I have the three books from the ladies of Little House on the Prairie out from the library. Thanks so much.

Door is open and ready for you Jenni, I even had a skateboard ramp built in the front yard for the occasion – feel free to blade right up to it – the ramp is set so you should (should) fly in the air, do a flip and land on the front deck. We have only tested it on crash dummies but we are semi confident that it will work 😀 And I will be standing out there to catch the rhubarb crisp in the event of any mishaps 😀

How am I getting to your party? Well, on my walk the other day, I found a really strange looking watch. After playing around with it a few minutes, I discovered that it can freeze time…for everyone but me of course. How cool is that? (Can you say “Me Time”?) Since I haven’t had a vacation for a long time, I decided to travel by motor home and bring my boat and bike so that I can see the country and stop at all the bike trails and lakes and spend some time relaxing and getting some exercise. Thanks to my watch, I can take my time and still won’t be late to your party.
I decided to make a fruit and yogurt trifle that I found on Pinterest. It’s very yummy!! I hope you like it as much as I do!
OOH I like that you brought a motor home and toys to go with it – you can bike and boat here – Minnesota had plenty of ways to do both 😀

I am so sorry I’m late, but things have been crazy for the last few weeks around here.
It was so crazy, that it took me forever to find the proper transportation to your glorious party. After what seemed hours of searching in vain, I finally found someone willing to give me a lift.
Just as I was about to give up all hope, this group of teenagers in a green and yellow van stopped and offered me a ride. I would have been able to use their help the entire way there, but there dog kept begging for some kind of snack, and some shaggy haired guy kept giggling the entire way. It sort of creeped me out a bit. It didn’t help that they kept talking about haunted houses the entire time I spent with them.
So we got to Omaha, and I just had to bale on them. I couldn’t take the giggling any more. So I took off on foot, not something I would do for just anyone mind you, when a family of three stopped and offered me a ride. They seemed nice a first, if a bit primative in their dress. The father looked as if he were wearing a dress with a necktie, and the mother wore what appeared to be a white fur dress. They had a lovely young daugter with them, cute as a buttong, but she kept talking about small rocks for some reason. I’m not sure what kind of pet was in the backseat with me, I don’t think it was a dog, but it behaved as if it were one. I swear the entire time I was in their car, I thought I smelled burning flesh as if the car was running on foot power, instead of horse power. They were only able to get me to St. Paul, and I know it wasn’t a long trip from there, so once again I set out on foot.
Luckily for me, a lovely young blond woman pulled over and offered to bring me to your front door. I wasn’t sure what to make of her at first. She looked as if she was a race car driver, but she was dressed all in pink and used a parasol for shade as she drove. The car’s grill looked like oversized lips, and it appeared to have eyelashes coming out of it’s headlights. Despite my misgivings, I got into her car, and away she took off. She kept muttering something about a guy in a green trenchcoat chasing her, but she never voiced her fears out loud. But as soon as she dropped me off, she was off like pink lightning.
So after all that, her I am, wishing you a wonderful blogoversary and I can’t belive it’s been four years since I first stumbled upon you and your blog. You were one of the first blogges who showed me kindness and welcomed me with open arms, so for that, I owe you my thanks and lots of gifts.
So to celebrate your blogoversary I have come ladened with such gifts that will blow your mind. First off, is a $1,000,000 gift card to Cafe Book.
