I was out of town all week and weekend and missed my morning Sunday Salon so here is a little recap of my week here. Camp was a great time… beautiful weather, new friends and old ones, an awesome week. This weekend Al (hubby, hubster…) took me to the State Fair. I was tired and wiped out from the week at camp but really who can turn down the opportunity for strange and fried foods on a stick? Al tried the breaded meatball surrounding a hard boiled egg on a stick. He said it was good… I am just going to take his word for that. 😛
Last night we stayed at the Mystic Lake Casino Hotel in Prior Lake MN and that was an experience. Our room was amazing with a jacuzzi and a little living room area. We are at the casino buffet but unfortunately we were too full from the greasy stuff we tried at the State Fair to really enjoy the dinner.
We got back in town early afternoon and I have been relaxing and catching up on a little post writing. Here is what was posted here this past week:

Not too bad considering the week I just had! I am on the verge of finishing my audio in the car and in the CD player in the kitchen and will have some good audio time in the car this week when I head up to our cabin on Wednesday morning for the Labor Day weekend. I am heading to the cabin two days before Al and our friends to get in a little down time before I gear up again for the fun weekend! This will also mean some reading time (YAY!) so here is my plan for this week:
History is broken, and three kids must travel back in time to set it right!

This will be my first James Dashner. He made such an impression on me at BEA this year I am excited to read this book that will be released this week!

I am not sure if I read this one before or not Laurel… I read Koontz so long ago (like twenty years ago) and at that time read everything he had written.

The Crying Tree sounds really good. I’ll have to suggest it to my book group. The Unfinished Garden also looks like something I’d enjoy.
I like fair food though it doesn’t always like me back 🙂 This year I got to go to a fair for the first time since I was a teenager and I had a French Waffle and ended up spilling powdered sugar all down my shirt. Thankfully it was the end of my shift (the library had a booth). I don’t think I’d be brave enough to try what Al ate 🙂

Sheree, we didn’t indulge too much…. I am not much for it either and we have been eating a pretty strict diet lately so it wasn’t really agreeing with us 😀
Our fair starts in a couple of weeks and I can’t wait! I don’t really go for any of the fried food on a stick. I’m a little afraid I’ll actually like it!

I haven’t read a Dean Koontz book in a loooooong time because it seemed that they had gotten too farfetched, but this one looks interesting. In face I haven’t really read a mystery in awhile-need to remedy that. 🙂
Have you read any of Emily Griffin’s books? I just read my 1st one-Love the One You’re With. I love her writing style and the contemporary fiction (?) that she writes. Ready to move on to another one by her!

HI Shannon! I agree, Dean got a little out there and I actually prefer his books that came out in the late 80’s, early 90’s. I have read Emily Griffin… a couple of them and can not recall titles now… seems like the word “blue” was in the title. 😀
Yeah, I think you’re right. I know the front covers of her books are usually pastel and titles are lowercase letters. Funny the things that catch our attention!

Looks like you have a GREAT reading week ahead of you. I also have The Unfinished Garden. My daughter really wants to read Drama and I love time travel so I will be looking for your reviews on these books.
My week is another busy one but I think a good busy. This is kind of the last hurrah before work gets busy again 😀 I am excited about Drama.. I have it on the table next to me now.

I am excited about both. I need to find my copy of Infinity Ring, with all my books unshelved for the room remodel it is quite a trick to find a specific book. I went through them once now I need to go in again… I must have missed it as I know I have it 😀

Koontz is an old favorite of mine…but the stories started to all feel the same and I haven’t read any in a few years.
I adored him for years and then he wrote a couple really out there ones… Strange Highway’s was one I could not get into. 😀

The Unfinished Garden really takes my heart. Would love to read it. I bought my first ever Dean Koontz novel a few weeks ago simply because there are yellow labs in the novel. My son has a chocolate lab. THE DARKEST EVENING OF THE YEAR. Might save it for Halloween. Enjoy your week of reading.
