Good morning!
Yesterday afternoon I received a text message from college son. He said that he had awoke in Mankato to about 6 inches of snow and wanted to know what was happening here in Brainerd. I was happy to say that at that time, it was little flurry flakes and nothing accumulating.
I spoke too soon.
Throughout the day it continued to snow and now by morning… well see for yourself.

I know it is bound to happen but I really am not a fan of snow.
Anyway – moving on….
My friend Cindy is very creative in decorating and in cooking. At our last girls weekend her cookie recipe was a delicious and deadly combination of chocolate and peanut butter – and they are pretty to look at too. Here is her recipe.
Peanut Butter Balls

1 bag of powdered sugar
1 can sweetened condensed milk

1/2 cup butter – melted
1 cup peanut butter
Blend and put into refrigerator for 20 minutes
Take out and roll into balls and place on a cookie sheet lined with wax paper
Return to refrigerator for another 20 – 30 minutes
Melt 6 squares of chocolate almond bark in a small bowl and add 3 Tablespoons pie shortening to make it thinner
Take the peanut butter balls out of the refrigerator and dip them into the chocolate mix covering the entire ball
Place back on wax paper and continue until done.
Melt two squares white almond bark and drizzle this with a spoon over the top of the peanut butter balls.
Return them to refrigerator for an hour. This will firm them and they are ready to serve or to freeze for later use.
Certainly delicious and pretty too!
Have a wonderful Sunday everyone! My day is pretty free so I am looking forward to catching up on a few more things around here. 🙂

Ooh, I just saved this recipe!
I thought I had a better picture of the finished look on these Hannah but I guess I did not. My husband is a huge fan of all things peanut butter so he loves these. 🙂
They sound really easy and VERY good! 😀
And, I forgot to say in my first comment — I got so excited by the recipe — that I kind of figured you’d have snow this weekend.
It is here – that’s for sure.
*sigh*
We were kind of expecting snow a couple days this past week, but it never quite materialized here.
I have to admit I’m a huge fan of snow and these pictures are making me so jealous!!
Come visit Amanda, you can take home as much as you like. 😀
In Ohio, we call these candies buckeyes after our state nut or something…lol. They are so yummy and I make them every year. Sorry about the snow. It’s starting to get a bit chilly here to so I’ll be interested to see what the week brings weather wise 🙂
Thanks for the new name for the cookie Emily! Buckeyes sounds good! 😀
We are suppose to get snow each day this week except Tuesday which is suppose to be back to the 40’s and sunny – and then snow again on Wednesday…..
Good grief!
The snow certainly makes for gorgeous photos….I guess you won’t be sitting out on the deck today! LOL
Lovely looking cookies….
No I will not be outside today Laurel…. you can see by the photo that I have procrastinated on putting away the deck furniture as I pretty much do every year….. 😀
Oh stop it, you’re making me hungry! And I’m not even supposed to eat most of those ingredients, but I think I might just have to try these anyway! (I am naughty!).
They are really sweet Nikki-ann and I can usually handle only one…. ok maybe two…. 😀
My in-laws sent pictures Saturday, they woke to over 5 inches and it as still snowing. I miss “home”, well the snow part. The rest of the state I am fine without. You made Buckeyes! I never heard them called that until I moved to this dreadfully hot and humid state which (in my small section) lacks snow. What you pictured is the amount of snow I many see all winter, if I am lucky *sniff* This is the first state (we lived in MN, WI, MI,WY, and now here) where there has not been copious snow. Enjoy the snow. What I would give to make a snow angel once again.
I would not miss the snow if I moved Jennifer…. I hate the cold, the wet, the slippery…. the roads….
Snow angels however…. are fun 😀
I miss the snow so very much. 35+ years with blizzards and now the best I get is an ice storm. 😦
I am also not a fan of snow-it looks pretty and all but I could do without it.
Although it is a good excuse for a fire.
I use it as an excuse to curl up with a blanket and a book 😀
We got four inches of snow, unexpectedly, on Friday night. This started after everyone was out and about for the evening so we all got our first winter driving experience of the year on really bad roads. Love, love that cookie recipe. Think I’ll have to give it a try this afternoon!
Enjoy the recipe Lisa!
Those cookies look fab but even better is the look of that snow covered yard. I would love a white Christmas….even if means 4-5 inches of snow. I see you do not like the snow, I share your sentiments….that is….. when it comes to the tropical HEAT where I stay !!!!!
Fiza I love the heat….. wish I could live in it year around 🙂
I’m jealous of that snow!! I’m from Ohio but have lived in Florida for years and I miss the snow VERY much!!
And yep, those are called Buckeye’s. We leave a little of the peanut butter showing so that it looks like a Buckeye.
Vicki – ok… I am showing how naive I am here, but when you say a buckeye, do you mean like a deer eye? Feel free to laugh – I have no idea what a buckeye is. 😀
how cosy! i love being warm and snug inside when it is snowy outside.
I do too plumbean but then after about 4 months of that I am itching to get on my bike and get outside…. 😀
I make Buckeyes for my mom and grandmother for their stockings at Christmas so that I can make them and not gorge myself on them. I should probably get started on them and just freeze them since I have to make a double batch.
What a fun idea Kristen – I will have to remember that! 🙂
We love peanut butter around here too! These look good and may be one of the new things we try every year! We got a ton of snow too!
Enjoy the recipe Julie – stay warm! 😀
6 inches already??? I hope that Michigan stays green for a few more weeks!! I only like snow on Christmas morning 😀
Those pb/chocolate balls look fantastic and I swear I can hear them calling my name!! 😀
I wish we could “go green” just a little longer….. GAH! 🙂
Wow we do not see snow like that here, come to think of it we don’t see snow full stop where I live. It does look beautiful but I enjoy the sun and the sea 🙂
The Peanut Butter Balls sound delicious but some of the ingredients sound a bit foreign. Powdered sugar is probably icing sugar but I havent heard of chocolate almond bark. And is pie shortening just butter? Thanks Sheila
I prefer the sun and sea Sherri! 🙂 Powdered Sugar is one you don’t know? That is a baking staple around here – it is fluffy and well, its the stuff on powdered sugar donuts 🙂
Pie shortening I think is just Crisco, my friend Cindy called it pie shortening and I have not heard of that either…. 😀
Hope that helps – 😀
I’m so jealous of the snow right now. I could use some of it down here if you can spare any.
Ryan, for you my friend – you can have it all. 😀
Gee Thanks! I can’t wait! 🙂
Yay! 😀
I’ve never been around snow on a consistent basis to know if I would like having it around all of the time. It looks beautiful though. 🙂
The recipe sounds delicious and looks fab in the photos!
Thanks Alyce, I am not much of a baker but in the right setting, I can do ok… 😀
I don’t envy you that snow! I am such a weather wimp, I can’t even tell you!
Kathleen I don’t like it either. Its the time of year I like to stay inside and be really crabby. 😀
OMG I love this recipe. I’m invited to a cookie swap and I’m thinking I could make these. Yummmmmm. And I heard you all had snow already. We’ve had some furries but nothing real yet. Maybe you’ll get all your snow early and then be done. LOL.
Enjoy the recipe Beth! 🙂 I would love it if the snow came early and then left…. like on Friday of this week 😀
Yikes, so much snow! I don’t know how much they got at home, but I’m sure it was quite a bit. Happily, it missed us in Madison so far, but I’m sure it’s coming soon…
Kim I think the area your parents are in received more than we did. Justin (college son) is in Mankato and said they had about a foot.
