Morning Meanderings….

Ok….. seriously….  you should see my hair.

Why is that your hair can one day be just wonderful …

and then suddenly the next day you wake up and it is too long, and doesn’t style right and well seriously….

My hair has been that way for over a week now.  So today – yes today, at 5 pm, I am getting it cut and highlighted and I am beyond thrilled.  I am actually bringing a picture of me from last April when I thought my hair was super cute…. (don’t laugh….. have you never done this?)  I want my hair lady to take me back a  year.  🙂

So any way – I am starting my morning at the gym because that’s the way I roll.  OR – that’s the way I want to roll… and I need to get back into good habits.  My friend Jennifer and I are starting a program today that we are calling the 3 -1 – 1.  Based not only on the date… but also on 3 good meals, 2 healthy snacks a day…. 30 days to get to 4-1-1, and see our results.  Since 3-1-1  adds to 5, we have to work out for a minimum of 5 hours a week.

So here’s to new starts – better fitness habits, and hopefully good hair.

Spring is coming – any thing you are planning to get a jump-start on the season?

  1. I kind of need a haircut, too. But I haven’t found a stylist since we moved, and I hate going to a new person, who doesn’t know my hair.

Good luck following through with the exercise plan!

  2. Okay, I finally got your page when I clicked on the e-mail links! I don’t know what was going on, but I’m so glad to finally get here!

Interesting about the hair thing, since I’m going today to get mine styled, too.

My daughter is a stylist, so we’ve been working together to achieve “my best look.”

Isn’t it great how much better we feel after a new style?

Hope to see your photos afterwards!

    1. Laurel, I answered you in the comment you left about it not working. I prepped this post last night and meant to hit draft and hit publish, that’s why you got the email. 🙂

I put it back to draft because I didn’t want it to go out until this morning. 🙂

  3. 3-1-1 you are SO organized and motivated. I am organized, just can’t get the motivated going.

My book group chose The Next Thing on My List! You said you had a website to send me?

  4. Funny, today I am making an appt for a haircut this weekend – my hair is also out of control. okay… that’s a little much since it lives in a knot most of the time. It’s just easier that way, working from home I’m usually in yoga clothes and sporting a ponytail.

It’s snowing here today so I will be at the gym tonight – 1H 23M cardio (I will watch this weeks Biggest Loser). I just found this show a year ago… so motivating to workout to!

    Have a great day

    1. Biggest Loser was awesome this week (but I think I love it every week!) This episode reminded me that even when we are busy with other things we still have to find time to take care of ourselves.

Have a good work out tonight. I am going back to the gym after work for an hour with my friend Heidi.

  5. I’ve been growing out my very short A line cut for the past 4 weeks and there have been days when I’ve about given in and made an appt to cut it again. I so understand the bad hair days right now lol

    1. As you can see from the picture Zia I keep mine pretty short too. It is so thick that when it grows out I cant do a thing with it. I am looking forward to a fresh spring cut! 🙂

  6. I have been exercising pretty dilligently for a few weeks now and haven’t lost a pound! That is pretty frustrating since I will be going on my Mexican vacation in just a few weeks. Although I have been exercising faithfully, I must admit that I haven’t really been dieting. So I stopped by our food co-op last night and picked up some healthier food items to help me get on track. We’ll see if it works!

    1. That has been happening to my friend too Jo Jo. I think it is the eating part. We talked about that this morning…. she was telling me what she had for breakfast and we were discussing better choices/alternatives:

      Eggo: Fat Free Crumpet
Fried Egg: 3 scrambled egg whites (no butter or oil)
Toast w/ butter: back to the crumpet

I had low fat Quaker Oatmeal and a banana

  7. Sheila-one day when I was in trial-it was horrid hair day-I had to put so much spray in it-then it felt disgusting at night-so I stuck a hair band in my hair-well I am getting ready for bed and honestly-my hair was perpendicular to my forehead-flock of seagulls reunion here I come. I think it is the end of winter-too much dry heat effect.

  8. I HAVE brought a picture of myself from the past and asked my stylist to make me look like that again. Know what? She laughed and told me “that was 5 years ago…before you had a teenager. You’ll never look like that again.” Haha 🙂

My favorite time of year is this weekend, when we get to turn the clocks forward and get more daylight! Love it. And I’m loving my book – The Full Plate Diet. It’s so easy – no set meals, just high fiber foods and lots of water. I’ve already lost a few pounds. Cheers to you and 3-1-1. (Show us your new haircut tomorrow!)

    1. Natalie usually it seems like the day I have the appointment my hair looks fantastic and I question my decision to get it cut…. today….. that is not the case. 🙂

  9. It must be hair day, I too have an appointment today and boy do I need it.
I’m trying to eat better and just signed up for a 4 week boot camp to help get in shape for summer when I can have time to catch up on my reading.

  10. Just want you to know that I look forward to your posts- you make me LOL! I do think your hair is super cute in that photo.
A bad hair day is nothing to laugh about-yet we do-if we didn’t we would be crying our eyes out!

  11. Spring is coming and I still have not got back to my exercise routine. I have to get there. I keep saying next week. I had planned on starting again last week, but I felt awful with this sinus infection that I didn’t start. Now, today, I will have to force myself to put the computer and books down for just an hour. I feel so much better when I do it – so I have to get to it again.

Best of luck with you 3-1-1 plan!

    1. HI Melissa – I am the queen of procrastination. I think I put the “pro” in procrastination…..LOL …. I don’t feel well, its too late in the day, how can I justify working out when I have so many things to do at home, I will start tomorrow, next week, as long as I eat right I should book to miss a few days at the gym….

Thanks Melissa for the luck – i will need it 🙂

  12. I need to start exercising. I also desperately need a hair cut. I have naturally curly hair and have had a hard time finding someone who can style it. It is way too long and shabby.
