Morning Meanderings… Random Things On My Chest

This morning I woke up and sitting here with coffee cup started just thinking about random things…. nothing really alone contributes to a post, or maybe it does but I would rather bullet point the thoughts in my head:

  1. I have notices that sometimes when I comment on other posts I mean to put a smiley but my fingers move to fast and put a wink instead and hit submit before I notice it.  In most cases I mean a smiley in case anyone wonders why I wink when I type.  I don’t…. not that I know of.  😉  (DOH!)
  2. The candy wrapper and the small black rice looking turd next to it in the library behind the chair turned out to not be my husband’s (although I would have preferred that it was).  Nope.  It was from a mouse.  Was.  I got him.  As much as I love all living creatures, I can not figure out a humane way to evict those that come into my home.
  3. Every year I buy three bags of fun size candy bars for Halloween… fully knowing that  a) We do not get any trick or treaters where we live and  b) we are not even going to be home.

Me, Sara, Heidi

On Halloween my friend Sara and I went to my friend Heidi’s home where we helped hand out candy to trick or treaters.  Heidi’s house is right in town and they had around 1,000 kids.  No kidding.  It was a lot of fun to see all the costumes and I think we are “on duty” for next year too.

*Whew*  That feels better!   Hope everyone survived the weekend ok! Mine was pretty busy but fun.  I work today, workout this afternoon (remember the fun size candy bars…) and think I actually will have a relaxing evening at home.  YES!  They are too few and far between that’s for sure.

Have a great day!

Morning Meanderings…. It’s Halloween and all Treats Around here today!

Good morning and Happy Halloween!  You would think I was this big Halloween fan the way I have been acting but actually, since the kids grew up… not really.  Where we live we usually do not get trick or treaters, all the kids in this are grew up with me and no one ever moves so I am the youngster in the area and they probably do not want me on their door step asking for candy.

ALTHOUGH….. this year that is exactly what I am doing!  My friend Heidi really gets into Halloween and has a lovely Victorian style home right in town.  Her husband and her go all out to ensure a wonderful Halloween experience for kids who come there, and this year I am going to go and help.

And yes…. I am dressing up.  You might see more on that later.

When I mentioned all treats here today that is what I meant – there should be a pretty spooktacular interview later with a giveaway and a book that was a real treat to read as well.

I would love to hear about your traditions on this day.  😀

Have a Happy Halloween!!!

Morning Meanderings… stretching and looking for a good audio download. Suggestions?

Mmmmmmmoooorrrrrrrnnnniiiinnnnggggggggg!

Finally.  It seems like it has been forever since I have had a day with no real commitments.  I am not going anywhere.  In fact – I slept until 8 am which is normally unheard of but feels great.

I am having coffee and maybe some eggs and then finishing up the last few pages of the book I am reading and then diving into the next one.  I plan to write a bit this afternoon, and maybe watch one of the instant Netflix movies.

My “opportunity” this morning lies as I am finishing up the last of  the Henrietta Lacks audio, and now I need to pick a new one.   I have been on Audible.com this morning trying to pick something wonderful to listen to on my IPOD and nothing is jumping out at me.  I would love suggestions.  🙂

I am hoping to download something in the next few hours here so while I am showering this morning I have something awesome to listen to.

Ok… off to enjoy this  morning I have been looking forward to.  Days like these are far too few and far between.  😀

HAPPY SATURDAY!!!!!

Morning Meanderings…. Halloween is in the air

I am feeling good.  We were considering going to the cabin this weekend, just Al and I, but the weather is fairly decent, the premature snow has melted and instead he is going to chop wood and I am going to pick up our lawn furniture and chillax at home.

I am hoping to get some reading done, maybe a movie with Chance on Saturday afternoon and Sunday I have a fun evening planned and a little something special planned for here as well.

On a fun note, I was interviewed over at the wonderful Trish’s blog, Hey Lady! Watcha Reading? about my beloved book club.  Thanks Trish!  😀

In the meantime, let’s have some fun with Jib Jab:  (I hope this link works well… I tried for the longest time to figure out how to get the video to post on here.)

Morning Meanderings… So What Is Up With Me?

Oh I know… I am so late these days and you may think I am losing my grip on the meandering.  I promise I will be back on track soon.  😀

My schedule lately has been a bit nuts and I am currently training at the office for someone to take my current position while at the same time I am morphing into a new position.  Basically I am juggling between the two and the time management skills are requiring a tune up to do so.

Soon this will all iron out and it is really an exciting time as I enter my new position.  My hours will mellow out again and I will hopefully not be so tired in the mornings that I sleep through the meandering time (uhhh….. like this morning), and run out the door to work barely even having time to sip a little coffee.

All really is well, in fact there really are some exciting things coming up that I will chat more on going into next week.  Let me leave you with this one word to ponder on:

Zumba.

Google it.

We will talk later.  😀

Morning Meanderings… I AM NOT Dreaming Of A White Halloween!

Good morning.  Minnesota is known for its crazy weather.  It’s actually probably what I like least about where I live.  I do enjoy the warm springs, gorgeous trees, brilliant summers, and bike rides in the fall….

However once we get into the snowy type weather…. I would much rather hibernate until spring is here again.

SO….

you can imagine my angst as I went to bed last night and the wind was blowing hard and my beautiful lawn was sprinkled in white.

AND…

you can imagine me (if you will) sitting here this morning at 7:20 a.m. and it is still pitch black outside and we can officially say we have had the first snow.

GAH!  GAH!  GAH!  GAH!  GAH!  GAH!  GAH!

My back deck this morning

I think it is these weather changes that make me tired.  I have been going to bed earlier, and not my usual energy.  I really need to fix that.  😀  Today, I would love to know what weather you are experiencing in your little piece of the world.

My lovely lawn chair that I like to read in

I have big plans for Halloween….  snow, you really need to go away.

Morning Meanderings…. attack of the flannel man

Good Morning!  Happy Tuesday wherever you are.  😀  I am in a very wet Central Minnesota having not had any coffee yet and wondering when did I suddenly get so unorganized.  I actually woke up for the first time in about a year and realized that I almost forgot to post the morning meandering today.

GAH!

I love the morning meandering!

This past weekend, myself and my friend Wendy went to the cabin up North.  Finland Minnesota.  We arrived about 7:30 pm and after bringing all our items into the cabin, we drove down a few miles to a nearby restaurant.

Wendy had never been to the cabin with me before and I was telling her that the restaurant would give her a little bit of Finland culture.  We went in, found a booth and ordered big delicious mushroom swiss burgers.  We were enjoying our conversation when “WHUMP” a flannel covered man sat in my side of the booth.

Yup.

AND… not sitting there to talk to us, but with his back turned to us.  He was talking tot the people who had the large table in the center of the room and paid us no mind at all.  My eyes got big and I looked at Wendy as we could not believe what just happened.  His large flannel shirt facing away….

We stifled our laughs, and Wendy said she wished she could have taken a picture of the look on my face.  I am quite sure it was priceless.  Eventually he turned and asked if we minded if he talked to his friends a few minutes, I said that was fine.  He left about ten minutes later and well… I guess we have the funny memory.

Welcome to Finland.

Other than that moment, the weekend was pretty uneventful.  I did a little writing and little reading.  It was good.

This week already seems to have gotten away from me.  Yesterday I was so busy all day that i hardly had time to visit the Monday What Are You Reading people.  I hope to do more of that later today….

after work…

after workout….

Eventually.

Anyhoo – I will get back on my game here….  just fuzzy yet from sleep and I think the lack of coffee.  😀  Have a super day!

Morning Meanderings…. What Is It With Me and Jayne Eyre?

Good morning.  Lovely (yet still dark) day here in Central Minnesota.  I am sipping at my ever ready cup of COFFEE and doing what I enjoy in the mornings, reading my Shelf Awareness that magically appears in my email each morning and as reliable as a faithful dog.  Love it.  Love it.

Oh yeah… I love it.

This mornings edition had a couple interesting topics and then I was reading an interview with Erin Blakemore and she was saying that the book that changed her life was Jayne Eyre.  She goes on to say that she has gasps of recognition as she rediscovers it for the thousandth time.

Jayne Eyre?

Thousandth time?

I couldn’t get through it once.   It is like the kryptonite book for me…. I want to read it…. oh yes, I want to say that I have read Jane Eyre but I picked it up and I got lost in the what….  language?  In the time?

I feel like I am a minority on this one… because I am constantly reading things like:

“Jayne Eyre changed my life – this is the best book I have ever read!”

“Through the years I always go back to Jayne Eyre my favorite book of all time!”

“A divine work of art that I will always carry within me!”

Why can't this woman and I just get along?

Wha?  Why do I picture that if I was in Jayne Eyre times that her and my fictional self would have been like Laura Ingalls and Nelly Olson?  And I am really not sure which of us would play what role as – like I have humbly admitted here…. I have not read the book.

So as I leave for work this morning, and to the cabin later today (there’s a big YAY!!!), I leave you with this question…. errrr…. questions.

1.  Is it just me who struggles with Jayne Eyre?

2.  What book is it for you that everyone raves about and you wish you could join the forces raising your glass to the author and to the book itself…. and yet you just can not get into it?

Anyway…. that’s where my head is at this morning.

Good morning Jayne….  coffee this morning?  😀

"Sheila, I take my coffee black because I do not have time to harvest sugar or make the creamer."

Morning Meanderings… What Would Your Name Have Been?

Good Morning.  I am off from work today, Chance and I are going to Staples to speak to a group about Kinship Partners.  Chance has been in our families life for 8 years now and we are going to talk about what we have done the past 8 years and how Kinship has really brought to each of us a better, fuller life.

A conversation I really enjoy having with people is discussing what our names would have been if we born the opposite sex.  If I would have been a boy my name would have been Rory.  Apparently, my parents had told me, there was a great western actor Rory Calhoun who I would have been named after.

Hoo boy… maybe that’s why I really don’t like country music…..

Rory Calhoun (oh yeah... he is that hot...LOL)

Oh… and just to clarify…. Rory is the one on the right.  😉

So just for fun… do you know what your name would have been?

Morning Meanderings…. Do I Have Ennui?

Ennui:  pronounced ahn – wee

–noun a feeling of utter weariness and discontent resulting from satiety or lack of interest; boredom: The endless lecture produced an unbearable ennui.

I do not have ennui.  I actually just heard it used in an audio I was listening to.  They referred to it as teenage ennui, and I don’t know… I just liked the sound of it.

And of course… it reminded me of this:

No worries.  I think I have the opposite of this.  I have Off-wee.  Which would be defined as:

–noun a feeling of total ENERGY and contentment resulting from interest; excitement: The things happening in my life have  produced an abundance of  off-wee.

😛

(I can almost feel the dork meter rising within me…..)
