Morning Meanderings… Visiting My Book Room

meme

Good morning.

Saturday’s have always been my favorite day of the week.  They are the official break from the work week and not thinking about work the next day.  This one will be fairly mellow and I am thankful for because as spring approaches, and I look at my agenda… Saturdays tend to fill up.

This past week I spent some time in the book room.  My friend Amy and I sorted books in it on Monday and on Monday evening I had a few friends over where we sat in and talked and had a glass of wine.

I believe that room carries all aspects of my personality from the antique claw foot table that we rescued out of a demolition home, to the variety of books and audio books on the shelves, cozy comfy chairs, pictures and sayings on the walls, and gifts from Justin (my recovered Wizard of OZ, my favorite wine glass with a JK Rowling quote, and my set of new covers Harry Potter books.)  The room… is me.

If you were to visit, this is where we would sit having coffee (or wine depending on the time and occasion).  We would talk books and life and dreams…. and wishes too.

For todays Saturday Snapshot I bring to you, my favorite room in my home…. the book room…. depending on the day it is called The Rabbit Room, The Reading Room, and my friends fondly call it the Womb Room….. someday I will find the perfect name for it… probably out of a book.

Happy Saturday all.  A friend in popping over this morning and we are driving to Crosslake MN for a meeting about camp this year.  After my return, Al and I will have our usual Saturday late afternoon get together where we will go and do something, then back home to dinner and maybe a movie.

  1. Sheila, Are you familiar with a blog/website called Library Lust..photos of home libraries (womb Rooms) which are mostly beautiful/cozy. Filled with books. 2. I love that room! I remember my first “visit” in it, when we did a blog post about it way, way long ago, for my Potpourri blog.

I love French doors, and big comfy chairs…and books lining all the walls. I have such “book room envy!” Enjoy.

  3. Sheila, thank you for sharing this room with us! I’ve seen pics of the shelves over the years, but don’t ever remember seeing the whole room. It’s a DREAM room! I long for one and never give up hope that I’ll have it before it’s too late. And if you want to name it from something out of a book, I’d say this is your Room of Requirement 😀

  4. OMG, i really like what you did here… Really, I hope in the future, to have something like that… Thank you so much to show us your beautiful room

  5. Well, I think we’d start with coffee first, since I’d want to get an early start to the room, then switch to wine as the evening hits, then back to coffee the next morning, because it would take that long to talk and go through all the titles on your shelves!

  6. It’s so beautiful, Sheila, a warm and cozy library, filled with shelves upon shelves of books. I’d want to spend a lot of time in the book room. Thank you for sharing this special place.

    1. Great question and one I have to think thorough often. I do purge books. Our library has a spring and fall sale and my personal books that I have read but know I do not wish to keep go that direction to support our local library.
I have a bad habit of having duplicate copies of books i love because I want to be able to give them to other book lovers.

Books I love stay on the shelf. Books I think I may some day revisit stay on the shelf. Books i connect to somehow stay on the shelf 🙂 Favorite authors have been a think , but some of my author favs have changed through the years and there are whole author collections I know I can safely send away for others to enjoy.

  7. I asked my hubby to create a room like this for me. He said we have to wait for the kids to move out first. 5 1/2 years to go….and our 21 year old son just moved back in. Sigh. One day I will have a book room!

Hmmmm... what do you think?
