Morning Meanderings…. A Forgotten Anniversary.

Friday.  Sunshine and 80’s today.  My kind of day to sit on the deck and read and maybe have a friend over for a visit.

June 9th was my Blogiversary.  6 years.  If you have been around the past years you know I usually make a big deal out of it.  This year though… I missed it.  Thought about it last week, wondered if I would post something and then…

didn’t.

Maybe I will post something later this fall and have a late celebration.

In other news, I finished an EXCELLENT audio book last evening while I was outside painting old chairs in fun colors.  The audio, A Hundred Summers by Beatriz Williams will be reviewed later today.

And finally, I found out yesterday that some of Justin’s friends are planning a benefit for him where he was working in St. Paul.  It is set for next Saturday.  I will attend, it is a chance to see his friend’s, but I know it will be yet another hard thing to do.  I am so tired of everything being hard to do.  It is so hard to imagine my life now, before this because I feel I am so different… so much more vulnerable, so cautious, and so so broken.

Today…. there is sunshine.  I need the sunshine.

  1. I know it will be difficult for you to attend that event, Sheila, but I think it will help you too. My friend who lost his son said talking about him with other people helped him more than anything else. Justin was loved by so many.

  2. Those chairs came out great! Where are you going to use them? My sister has a lake house featuring all those colors, but boring furniture. I am going to send her this post to see how much fun it could be to do the chairs. Did you use spray paint?

    1. I did spray paint. Right now they are arranged on my front deck but I will probably put them away to be used for outdoor events, company etc… it was just fun to do something with the old chairs and put new life into them.

  3. I loved that book…it was one of my all time faves…love the chairs, too…no way around how sad the event will be but it will help so many…right? Take care!

  4. Love the chairs. Saw them on Facebook too.

Those are some nice old chairs. They are in good shape. Your husband finds nice things in his house restoring .

I just finished TINY LITTLE THING by Beatriz Williams. It was good just like THE SECRET LIFE OF VIOLET GRANT. I have A HUNDRED SUMMERS but haven’t read it yet.

ENJOY the heat. It will be in the 90’s here in Pittsburgh. I love it.

  5. I love those colorful chairs…going to check out that book! And yes, the event will be sad, but it will also feel good to see how Justin had an impact on others, like his friends and co-workers.

  6. Those chairs are gorgeous! Do you have any fun plans for them?

I have only read Williams’ The Secret Life of Violet Grant, but I am highly anxious to get to Tiny Little Thing. I have a copy of A Hundred Summers around here somewhere too. I’m glad it is an amazing read!

    One day at a time…

  7. Love the “after” chairs.

That’s such an wonderful thing for Justin’s friends to do. It just goes to show what a wonderful person and friend he was, and what an impact he made on the lives of the people he met!

  8. Those chairs are so cheerful … what a difference a little color makes.

That is wonderful news that Justin’s friends are holding a benefit in his honor. And while it will be difficult to attend, it will also be uplifting to see the positive influence he had on the people who knew and loved him.

  9. That’s great that Justin’s friends are holding a benefit in his honor. It is going to be hard to go but it will be good to be around so many who loved him. Hugs to you.

Love the chairs! I love adding in color instead of leaving things dull.

  10. OK, the chairs are great. So colorful! Love them. And what a kind gesture for Justin’s friends to do – they loved him so much. Wonderful benefit and wouldn’t he be proud to know that his favorite charity will be the recipient of the funds. Sheila, they won’t expect you to be unbroken. It’s OK. It will be a wave of love for your boy. He changed lives. And he was loved. Hugs to you.

  11. Sheila, I know it seems like it will be difficult, but once you are there, the love Justin’s friends feel for him will soothe your aching heart. Love and hugs, my friend.

  12. I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE your chairs! 😀 And how moving that they are doing the benefit. It shows what an amazing young man he was, Sheila. It will definitely be hard, but it will be beautiful, too. A true celebration of him

  13. Those chairs are so fun! What a great thing for Justin’s friends to do although I know it will be hard for you.

Hmmmm... what do you think?
