Oh egads I am home! Kiss the ground even as cold and damp as it is!  Do a happy dance!  Make a snow angel!  Scream MINNESOTA!  WOO HOO!!!!  (I actually did that). I even slept in until 8:30.  That’s right – 8:30!  After weeks of getting up at 4:30 am and yesterday I was up at 3:15 am.  I drove 3 1/2 hours to Seebring Florida following my friend Amanda in the rental car where she dropped off a truck, then we drove 2 1/2 hours to Orlando to catch our flight home.  It was a LONG day and I arrived back at home at 8:30 pm last night.  I stuck a load of laundry in the washer, made myself something to eat out of the measly pickings at home, and fell asleep watching Modern Family episodes I missed.  I am trying to soak it all in.  Getting my normal on.

On my agenda for today is pretty much nothing.  At some point I do need to go to the bank, pick up a few groceries, and plan dinner but that is IT.  Seriously – I am lying low the entire weekend… or as much as I can anyway.

It is soooooo good to be home.

Have I said that?

Here is what was waiting for me:

Awwww… normalcy.  After working the past 16 days of 12 – 16 hour days none stop, normalcy comes as a welcome friend.  I am tired, worn out and feel as though I aged… I need to find my youth again 🙂  I am believing my youth is somewhere in this house, and in these packages.  I will find it.  Trust me on that.

Have a super Friday.  You know my plan… what is yours?

  1. There’s no place like home, is there? I can’t even imagine how worn out you must be, that’s a lot of hours for a lot of days, especially since you had been in Florida the day you went back. Wow!! Are you sure you’re not Wonder Woman?

I can’t wait to see all the new books you got while you were gone! Relax, enjoy being home and take some pictures of snow (if you have any) for me please!

  2. One of the great joys in life………opening book packages! Feeling a bit envious right now, but you’ve certainly earned this after all the work and long hours you’ve put in!

  3. First of all, I feel like a slug compared to you, Sheila! Glad you’re home safe and sound. Enjoy being back in your home and opening your book mail.

  4. It is always wonderful to come back home! Enjoy your time of resting and recharging. I’ve been doing that today gearing up for a big weekend. Our grandson will be dedicated at church this weekend and we are hosting the dinner afterwards.

  5. Welcome home! I got exhausted just reading about your trip. It reminds me of how I felt when I used to travel for business – sometimes it was fun, but always tiring!

  6. YAY! Can’t wait to figure out HOME again. Really, it’s getting desperate. I am studying all weekend to prep for a nice Thanksgiving and then study some more to finally finish grad school in TWO weeks. I swear, I have only caught little bits of your travels but it seems like you’ve been in sunny flip-flop toe-showing off weather for months!

  7. There’s nothing like your own bed. Glad you got home safely. This has been parent-teacher conference week so pick up was an hour earlier. Took my girls for hair cuts and saved some money from their usual place. Crock pot pot roast permeates our apartment. Tomorrow, the baby has art class while the decade old girl and I will be fulfilling the upper grade community service requirement at the food bank. Sunday is up in the air.

  8. Yay, Sheila! Home safe and sound at last 🙂 I hope you’ve been enjoying your weekend. There’s nothing like the comforts and familiarity of home!

I wasn’t doing the physically strenuous work you were, but I had my own little pressure marathon, up ’til 4-5 every night and not sleeping late, pushing to finish submissions to get sent before the holidays. I’ve been picking at them for about 6 weeks, with constant interruption from so many things, but actually making two physical versions of novelty (interactive) board books (torturous work cutting tedious shapes out of boards), I got them FedExed yesterday! Then my son and daughter-in-law came over and my mom (Dad was here, too, of course—I live with them) made my typical birthday dinner and cake, and today (my actual birthday) I’m soaking in the relief of pressure past, have days of blog/email back up to deal with and plan to finish Chamber of Secrets. It should be a nice day 🙂

Hmmmm... what do you think?
