Sunday already! I have been mowing my lawn yesterday and picking apples today… listening to Liane Moriarty’s Three Wishes on audio. It feels like fall here in Minnesota… walking the dogs this morning it is a nippy 43 degrees. Brisk!

As for the Gone Girl topic… did you read the book? Are you planning on seeing the movie? In July of 2012 I read the book and it moved me to write a spoiler page for it so I could talk more about my thoughts on it. Since the rumors of the movie began, that Spoiler Page post receives hundreds of hits a day and people still are giving there opinions on the book, the ending, etc… I love seeing a book fuel that much discussion. 🙂 In fact that page is probably the first time in recent days, that I had to tell a commenter to clean up their act – and I think that is the first time I have even done that on any post I have written. The controversy continues….
I for one, am curious about the movie as I usually am when books I have read become movies. I may not always love the movie version, but I like the contrast and seeing what vision they come up with.. good, bad, or ugly. 🙂

Sheila, just thought I’d let you know that the spoiler links lead to an Amazon page for the Supreme Court book. For the record, I’m not planning on reading the book or seeing the movie. I think the trailer gives the impression that it is the wife screwing with him.

I have not read the book but have following the story. As of now I not planning on reading it. Movies hurt my eyes so no movies for me.
i enjoyed the book… it surprised me.
I can’t believe how chilly it got in MN this week! I am so not ready for this fall weather. Fingers crossed it warms up like it is supposed to this week.

I plan to see Gone Girl but I hate that they changed the ending.
I didnt know they changed the ending…. poo. They did that with My Sisters Keeper too (Piccoult) and that was a real bummer.
I will definitely see the movie, and enjoyed the book. No expectations, though.
Right… I am more curious than anything. I read it two years ago so I wont be too picky 😀
Feeling like a voice in the darkness, I didn’t like Gone Girl. It’s one thing to have characters change as events unfold and more information becomes available, but when the author simply hides a character’s true nature and reveals the truth as random ‘surprises,’ that’s not storytelling to me, it’s just manipulation, which anyone can do.
No, you are not alone by a long shot! If you look at the spoiler page there are many who agree with you finding it predictable, unrealistic… you name it… its been said. 😛
I did not get to Gone Girl, but remember so much hype about it. I might just see the movie (not sure). Thanks for sharing your thoughts. Have a great week.

Its a fun mix… I am especially at this time curious about The Scriveners Tale.. it feels “fallish” to me….
The first book appealed to me, but because I like to read a series in order, I have number one on my TBR. I don’t think Gone Girl is up my alley so I’ll be moving away from all that.
I like to read books in order too (I dont think I knew this one was a second – oops!) I enjoyed Gone Girl 😀
I picked up the book because I’m a huge David Fincher fan and wanted to see the source material before the movie. I loved the book for the most part – didn’t truly love the end. I can’t wait though to see how they put it together on screen.
I really enjoyed this book. I need to re-read it before the movie comes out. It makes me nervous about the ending for the movie being different. It took me a long time to be ok with the ending of the book, but I finally accepted it.

43 degrees- I was in the water all day-it was 100 degrees here-I have yet to think beach season is over-what a difference in our temperature.
I absolutely loved Gone Girl – even though the characters were both not very likable. I was didn’t see the big twist coming, but looked back after and everything made sense. That’s what a good twist should be like. I also thought the ending was fitting…each one got what he/she deserved!
I’ve heard they may change the movie ending….will be interesting.

It was a little too dark for me (I’ve felt that way about other Flynn books too) BUT I though the ending totally elevated the book and when I heard that the movie may have have changed the ending it has made me not really want to see it. Plus I don’t really think the actress playing Amy can pull it off. We’ll see.
