Dad Is Fat by Jim Gaffigan

Why I wanted to listen to this audio:  Heard a little hype about this on Facebook from friends I trust…  thought I would give it a try.  I am always up for a good laugh. 😀

Dad Is Fat is Jim Gaffigan’s hilarious stories on what it is like to be a father of 5 (yes 5!) children.  Jim shares the moments in his and his wife’s life of what it is like to try to maneuver through life in New York with 5 children and no car and taxi’s will not take more than 4 passengers in a vehicle.  An awesome listen or read for any parent who feels they may be outnumbered in their home or even for people like me who have no

It’s hard to write a synopsis for this audio when all I want to do is pull up a chair and start sharing with you the funny moments that had me laughing out loud…

“There is no difference between a four-year old eating a taco and throwing a taco on the floor.”

“We are all a little weird. And we like to think that there is always someone weirder. I mean, I am sure some of you are looking at me and thinking, “Well, at least I am not as weird as you,” and I am thinking, “Well, at least I am not as weird as the people in the loony bin,” and the people in the loony bin are thinking, “Well, at least I am an orange”.”

But don’t take my word for it… here is Jim, live from his audiobook – Dad is Fat:

I thoroughly enjoyed this audio, loved listening to Jim – and highly recommend this one for your next road trip.  This audio is family friendly.

  1. I love Jim Gaffigan and I’ve been dying to read this. I’m not really into audio books but I’d be willing to give it a try. Is it better as audio?

  2. Did you get to hear him at BEA? I caught a little bit of what he was saying. He is a really funny guy. I love all his stand-up specials. I may think of this as my next audio since I love his voice.

  3. Oh, good! I was looking at my Audible library last night and was surprised to find I’d downloaded this (no recollection – I’m guessing I was trying to use some credits). Also, Gaffigan was the ‘Not My Job’ contestant on ‘Wait, Wait, Don’t Tell Me!’ this past weekend, and he was hysterical. Definitely download the podcast if you can!

  4. I saw him in a tv interview and just from those 3 minutes I knew he was a very funny, and clean, comedian. I was laughing at the tv screen, so I bought the book for my husband for Father’s Day, but he has yet to read it, so maybe I will instead 🙂

  5. My daughter went to see Gaffigan at a local bookstore and had him sign a copy for my husband (Father’s Day gift). Hubby said it was a good read!

  6. I received an excerpt of the book in the mail a while ago… even as an excerpt I have trouble actually getting around to reading it. I don’t know if I liked it. I’m still trying to figure it out :/

  7. I listened to this last week while running (for a good part of it at least). I am sure I looked like a loon when he made me laugh out loud while running up a hill. I probably looked like the crazy one. It is hard to write a review of though. I just posted my review today.

  8. That looks fantastic! I love entertaining books to listen to while I work out, and it’s always fun to hear someone else’s perspective on parenthood. In fact, I just popped over to Audible and added it to my wish list for the next time I have available credits. Thanks for bringing it to my attention!

  9. My boyfriend is a huge fan of Jim Gaffigan. Maybe I’ll get the audiobook for us to listen to on our next road trip!

Hmmmm... what do you think?
