Good morning! It is Friday and I can not tell you how happy that makes me! FRIDAY! It is my day off and it is a real day off!!! By that I mean I am not buried in “to do’s”. Laundry is caught up, the lawn (yes… my ever dreaded lawn) does not need to be mowed for a few more days… and the sun… dare I say it… is shining!
This morning I read a post over at Hurtled To 60 and Now Beyond about the real inspiration behind the book, The Secret Garden. It really is a beautiful place And Frances Hodgson Burnet was actually a tenant there. I encourage you to stop over and read the post – it really is fascinating and the author of the post (I could not find her name) was just there on Wednesday so this is what it truly looks like today! Errr, well what it truly looked like two days ago! 😀
On Shelf Awareness this morning there was a lovely video called “How does a New Book Make You Feel?”
If you get breathless watching this as you see the titles and the emotions… then… you feel like I do. I swear, this is such a great time in the history of our world to be a reader.
Ok – I do have one small errand this morning… Sam (our dog) is about to get his first haircut. I am going to drop him off now and will not pick him up until this afternoon. As for myself, I suspect if this afternoon I am not on my bike – I am for sure on the deck. 😀
It is also the last day to take my Blog Survey -which I will either pull later today or tomorrow early morning. I will post results.

I think we are headed to the waterpark today. My husband has off and I am off from teaching for the summer, so we try to do fun things with the kids on the days we can. I am feeling the need to just sit down with a book for awhile though. I was up last night coughing and decided to skip my morning run as it hurts just to breath and swallow right now, so some downtime sounds good! Have a fun day! I vote deck not bike!
Hi there! Thank you for plugging the Secret Garden post on my blog. I do hope your followers get the chance to visit one day and in the meantime carry the photos in their mind when reading the book. Ronnie@hurtledto60
Ronnie! Nice to meet you! The pictures are gorgeous…. what an experience that had to have been!
That sounds like fun Jill! I think if I plan my day right – I can get deck and bike both in 😀 I have a few events coming up here that I need to get moving and ready for… I have been a bit of a slouch this spring…. 😛
I began listening to Little Princes by Conor Grennan on my morning walk today. Looks to be a gorgeous day too. Enjoy your sunshine, Sheila 🙂
I would love to know if that is good on audio Mary! I loved the book.
So far, so good! The author reads it – which doesn’t always work but it does here, I’m happy to say.
Oh I must get that one someday! Thank you for letting me know.
Last night I read for awhile on a chunkster called Poison, by Susan Fromberg Schaeffer; and today I’ll be reading Dirty Little Secrets on Sparky.
I may take Sparky out for lunch later.
LOL… I never thought about taking sNOOKy out to lunch… that is brilliant Laurel – enjoy. I have to say I have been thinking about you since audio book week is coming up… I have to get you into audio…. I have tried now for years!!!! I will not give up! 😀
Thanks for the link to the Secret Garden post. I was thinking about going for a walk this morning and after seeing the garden photos, yeah, I need some nature. Still all sunshine here. lol Got two hours of drizzle yesterday but I’m still waiting for the rain. Glad our sun made it up to you… finally.
Did you hear that BEA will be in Chicago in 2016? They signed a deal to have it on the lakefront at McCormack Place for one year. I know it’s a ways off, but even if I never get to NY, I know I can make Chicago! Good news for the Midwestern bloggers. 🙂
That was such a great post and so timely for us who have just red the book! 😀 It stormed (AGAIN) last night but today looks clear and sunny…. I hope.
OOH Chicago in 2016? That will be fun! That is something to look forward to – I have been to Chicago once (my girlfriends and I drove) I think it is 9 hours from here and we really had a blast!
The heat has finally subsided a little so a high of 27 will feel cool for us. Today I have to cut the grass and do some grocery shopping but after that I plan to sit and get back into Porch Lights by Dorothea Benton Frank. So far, so good. Enjoy your day!
27? Tell me that is a typo Joan…. brrr! 😀 I think my lawn can wait until Sunday…. but reading on the deck is on the agenda 🙂
Sheila, here in Canada we use the celcius system, so 27 is actually 82 approx, but no humidity.
AH…. I did not catch that you were from Canada…. it all makes sense now 😀
Good luck to Sam! I hope his haircut turns out lovely. Have a fun weekend.
It is super cute Laurie… he looks good, and much cooler 😀
OMG this is so very neat! thanks for sharing this post on the Secret garden
Isnt that cool! I would love to explore there!
me too, let’s go together! lol
Oh, I LOVE finding out book places really exist! I’ve known for ten years that Kensington Gardens really exists (and I’ve been twice), but it still makes me happy that you can actually GO to the place Peter Pan ran away to. (Even if Neverland is a little harder to find…)
Now must figure out how to get to Kent someday…
That is cool huh? I would love to go too…
