Welcome to It’s Monday! What Are You Reading? This is a great way to plan out your reading week and see what others are currently reading as well… you never know where that next “must read” book will come from!
I love being a part of this and I hope you do too! As part of this weekly meme I love to encourage you all to go and visit the others participating in this meme. I offer a weekly contest for those who visit 10 or more of the Monday Meme participants and leave a comment telling me how many you visited. **You do not have to have a blog to participate! You receive one entry for every 10 comments, just come back here and tell me how many in the comment area.

**PS I am a little (ok a lot) late on getting winners out as of late. I hope to get all packages out this week.

I am feeling pretty awesome right now. It was a perfect weekend. Saturday I was a slug… I literally stayed in the recliner most of the day, wrote a couple reviews, read an entire book, napped, and we ordered in for dinner and watched a movie.
Sunday, had church, went to the gym, came home and cleaned my entire kitchen, took apart the dish washer, cleaned it all out and put it back together, dusted, swept, mopped, cleaned bathrooms, jumped back on My Fitness Pal, and then had floor hockey. PRODUCTIVE? Yes. 😀
So now lets see how this past week went:
Pandemonium by Lauren Oliver (hoo yeah! Read it!)
Pandemonium – SPOILER PAGE! If you have read it, here we can talk about it! You know, about the thing… and the thing, and oh yeah – the THING!
The White Queen by Philippa Gregory (fantastic!)
The Eyre Report #3 (my update on the reading of Jane Eyre)
The Flight Of Gemma Hardy by Margaret Livesey (a little funny that I did not recall going into this book that it is a more modern version of Jane Eyre 😀
Ice by Linda Howard (Yes, occasionally a snarky review is in order.. and here it is) 😯
DNF: Great House… by disc two I was so lost I put it away.
All in all, I think a pretty impressive week :D. I feel pretty good about what I got done, a mix of books and audio. Going into this week here is the plan, knowing I have a busy start to the week and then a girls weekend coming up on Friday…. so it will be a light one:
Katniss Everdeen’s adventures may have come to an end, but her story continues to blaze in the hearts of millions worldwide.
In The Girl Who Was on Fire, thirteen YA authors take you back to Panem with moving, dark, and funny pieces on Katniss, the Games, Gale and Peeta, reality TV, survival, and more. From the trilogy’s darker themes of violence and social control to fashion and weaponry, the collection’s exploration of the Hunger Games reveals exactly how rich, and how perilous, protagonist Katniss’ world really is.
• How does the way the Games affect the brain explain Haymitch’s drinking, Annie’s distraction, and Wiress’ speech problems?
• What does the rebellion have in common with the War on Terror?
• Why isn’t the answer to “Peeta or Gale?” as interesting as the question itself?
• What should Panem have learned from the fates of other hedonistic societies throughout history—and what can we?Doesnt this sound like fun? I figure with a little over a week out from the movie this would be a great read!
Newlywed Caitlin Shetterly and her husband, Dan Davis, two hardworking freelancers, began their lives together in 2008 by pursuing a lifelong, shared dream of leaving Maine and going West. At first, California was the land of plenty. Quickly, though, the recession landed, and a surprise pregnancy that was also surprisingly rough made Caitlin too sick to work. By December, every job Dan had lined up had been canceled, and though he pounded the pavement, from shop to shop and from bar to bar, he could not find any work at all. By March 2009, every cent of the couple’s savings had been spent.
So, a year after they’d set out with big plans, Caitlin and Dan packed up again, this time with a baby on board, to make their way home to move in with Caitlin’s mother. As they drove, Caitlin blogged about their situation and created audio diaries for NPR’s Weekend Edition–and received an astounding response. From all across the country, listeners offered help, opening their hearts and their homes. And when the young family arrived back in rural Maine and squeezed into Caitlin’s mother’s small saltbox house, Caitlin learned that the bonds of family run deeper than any tug to roam, and that, with love, she and Dan could hold their dreams in sight, wherever they were.
Made for You and Me captures the irrepressible spirit and quiet perseverance of one small family–and offers to share that strength with any reader willing to make the journey.
This one has sat way too long waiting on… me. 😀
Carry the One begins in the hours following Carmen’s wedding reception, when a car filled with stoned, drunk, and sleepy guests accidently hits and kills a girl on a dark, country road. For the next twenty-five years, those involved, including Carmen and her brother and sister, connect and disconnect and reconnect with each other and their victim. As one character says, “When you add us up, you always have to carry the one.”Through friendships and love affairs; marriage and divorce; parenthood, holidays, and the modest tragedies and joys of ordinary days, Carry the One shows how one life affects another and how those who thrive and those who self-destruct are closer to each other than we’d expect.
I am about half way through this one and hmmmm…. I dont know yet.
The Andreas family is one of readers. Their father, a renowned Shakespeare professor who speaks almost entirely in verse, has named his three daughters after famous Shakespearean women. When the sisters return to their childhood home, ostensibly to care for their ailing mother, but really to lick their wounds and bury their secrets, they are horrified to find the others there. See, we love each other. We just don’t happen to like each other very much. But the sisters soon discover that everything they’ve been running from-one another, their small hometown, and themselves-might offer more than they ever expected.
This one has such a fun title! This is up next after Carry The One.

I’ve seen Carry the One around and hear it’s good. Enjoy all your books!
Thanks Harvee… I am really going to have to think about Carry The one… I guess it is now what I thought it would be… but that doesnt make it bad… just a thinker 😀
I saw that The Weird Sisters is on sale at Audible and I am tempted to get it because I’ve been wanting to read it. I hadn’t heard of Made For You and Me before but it sounds really good!
I enjoyed your review of The White Queen and Gemma Hardy. I have to admit that I definitely prefer Jane Eyre to Gemma Hardy. I didn’t realize how much I liked the Gothic part of the original story till I read Gemma Hardy (which doesn’t have that menacing and foreboding feel at all). I’ll have to check out the Pandemonium spoiler page.
Have a great week!
Made For You was suggested to me by an another author I read and so we shall see 😀
Good point about GH vs. Jane Eyre… (hmmmm… is that a blog post?) 😀
I really liked The White Queen and The Red Queen is even better 🙂 and I’m dying to read Pandemonium … so glad you loved it!! I’ll be interested to see what your final thoughts are on Carry The One.
Have a great week and happy reading 🙂
I just seen your comment on the review Sheree and I groaned when you said you liked Red Queen better as now I have to read it soon 😀
I’ve been wanting to read Carry the One…and The Weird Sisters is awesome.
Have a great week.
YAY! I should be to Weird Sisters this week, I am flying through Carry The One as I listened to it all day while I cleaned. 😀
Happy Monday! Hope you have a great reading week!
Thanks Yvonne – you too 🙂
Wow, you had quite the week! I cannot get enough of the Hunger Games so I am going to have to read The Girl Who Was on Fire.
I am getting so excited for the movie!!!
I didn’t even know about The Girl Who Was on Fire! It sounds fantastic *eek* so excited. And you know what is awful, I bought The Weird Sisters last year and kind of forgot about it. You just reminded me of how much I want to read it!
Get reading WS Bonnie!!! 😀
Oh! It does sound like you had a good week…snark and all. 🙂
Your upcoming choices look really interesting and I’ll be peeking in on your reviews.
Here’s wishing you a grand week!
LOL I did Martha 😀
These novels look interesting. I will check those!
Thanks – hope you find something you like 😉
Thank you for hosting this meme. You have introduced me to so many wonderful bloggers I would not have met otherwise! My post is getting late but it will come!
You are actually early (at least by Minnesota time!) this is up Sunday evening for me so Monday isnt for another hour or so yet 😀
I have both The Red Queen and The White Queen on my bookshelf just waiting to be read…one of these days!
I’m looking forward to reading your thoughts on The Weird Sisters – I have it on my tbr list.
Have a great week!
I have both of them in book format too… they are gorgeous covers and lovely large hard cover! OOH!!!
This is my 2nd visit I think. I’m finishing My soul to save and then I’ll start A game of thrones which I have yet to read 🙂
The book you are reading sounds good… I have not started The Game Of Thrones series…. I was thinking about it though 😉
Looks like some interesting reads! I read/commented on 20 blogs (so far)
Nice! I will have to get around to blogs as I can the next few days! Crazy night tonight with about twenty people in the house and tomorrow is book club and I have to finish the book tonight! 😀
I make it a point to be a slug every weekend….I need to recharge that much. LOL – then again, it’s a good way to enjoy the grandchildren…I’ve been teaching my five year old granddaughter how to make nutella toast, which involves toaster action, buttering and nutella spreading. So far, haven’t let her do this completely on her own – but I have been teaching the importance of using a separate utensil for each spread (butter vs nutella) to avoid nutella in the butter and butter and crumbs in the nutella.
And I only read one book this week – well, one and three fourths! woohoo! 🙂
Have a good week, looks like you have wonderful variety to read.
Sounds like you have a great time with the grand kids! That is awesome Mardel 🙂
I totally loved The Weird Sisters. It was like it was tailor made just for me. 🙂 Have to admit I didn’t much like Made for You and Me when I read it last year so I’ll be curious to see how you react.
OOH can not wait to get into it 😀
You are the first person who I know who has read Made For You and Me… I do hope I like it….
Looks like it was a great reading week – I hope to get to Pandemonium soon too – and I liked The Weird Sisters, although it took me a few pages before I really got into it.
Thanks Tanya, I am hoping the WS audio is good 😀
The White Queen is on my wishlist.
I am glad to hear that! It was wonderful 🙂
Sounds like the absolutely perfect weekend – one day of totally chillin’ and one day of being very productive!
Ah, yes…I was waiting to hear what you thought about Great House (especially on audio). It was pretty heavy literary fiction with very dense prose. It took me a long time to get through reading it – I can’t imagine trying to listen to it on audio!
The Girl Who Was on Fire sounds great! One of the things I liked best about the Hunger Games trilogy was how thought-provoking it was – a book of essays about it by YA authors sounds perfect!
I just read a review of Carry the One in BookPage this week – it sounds intriguing – I;m looking forward to hearing what you think.
Enjoy your books this week…and your Girls Weekend!
Sue
Great House was ugh on audio… I didnt understand int he first part why she was talking to a judge and then there was an older guy and …. wha???
I decided it took too much effort to figure it out and I really like to enjoy my reading 🙂
Pandemonium’s that good huh? I wasn’t going to read it but I think maybe I will now. Looks like you have some some good reading going on. 🙂 Have a great week!
Did you like Delirium Sami? I thought it was good, Pandemonium is better. 😀
Having one of those days where the faster I go the “behinder” I get. My grandson started with a new sitter today so I really should have more time but it isn’t working out that way, lol
Have an awesome week!!
20 and even got a guest post together. I have impressed myself, lol!!
You had a productive week of reading and a productive Sunday. I can’t seem to ever meet the expectations I set for myself in my Monday posts.
I have Weird Sisters on audio, can’t wait to read your thoughts!
LOL…. thats the norm for me too Laurie, but I make a dent and have a plan 😀
The Weird Sisters is such a fun read. Enjoy!
Thanks 😀
I’ll have to be sure to check out your thoughts on Pandemonium and the thing and the thing and the other thing. :->
I’ve thought about reading The Girl Who Was On Fire. I’ll have to be sure to check out your review first so I know if it is any good.
Happy Monday!

I am hoping it is good, it is written by many authors…. 😀
So … I just told Bebe Girl Autumn last week that Pandemonium was out .. actually, that it had been out for a while, and I she simply.can’t.believe that I didn’t have it on pre-order! So, I guess I’ll have to get that one next month or so with my limited book-buying dollar 🙂
Carry the One .. I liked the writing and the story, but it definitely didn’t bowl me over.
Your definition of slug (read a whole book, wrote two reviews, etc. etc.) and mine are totally different. My definition (got a few pages of reading in … that’s about it) 🙂
Ir was released on March 6th Julie – go get it! 😀
I am not being bowled over by Carry The One either and I really thought I would be…
You have some great looking reads coming up! I need to get on the Oliver wagon!! 😀
Yes Staci, hop on! I have read all three of her books now and have not been disappointed! Oh wait… I think she has 4 books out… I have one to go 😀
Your Saturday sounds lovely! I have Carry the One on my tbr list – I will be curious to see what you think.
I am curious what I think too Lindsey 😀 It is not what I thought….
I loved THE FLIGHT OF GEMMA HARDY (and barely recall Jane Eyre from my high school days!). Also, THE WEIRD SISTERS is wonderful (and you don’t have to really “know” Shakespeare to appreciate the references.
You’ve got a great reading plan lined up, Sheila!
Thanks Dawn! I am so glad I dont need to know Shakespeare as I do not 😀
I have had the Weird Sisters on my To-read list forever! Happy reading!
Have commented on 10 blogs!
It has been awhile, I need a new book I think I am going to track down Pandemonium! Thanks for the tip!
Spot on with this write-up, I honestly believe this amazing site needs far more attention. I’ll probably be returning to read through more, thanks for the advice!
