Good morning! SATURDAY!!!! Did you know this is my favorite day of the week? I love Saturdays, they are days that only have things “to do” in them (usually) that I put there… not put there for me :D. Today is one of those Saturdays. I am going to go help a friend this morning and then hit the gym for Zumba after that.
Then I think I will be home. I would love to do a little reading… and little writing.
For Alyce’s Saturday Snapshot I thought I would post some old pics’. Don’t you love old pictures? I always look at them in awe when I think how much photography has changed in just a couple of generations…. we can do so much with a picture now…

Neither of the pictures have dates on them but my mom was born in 1948 so I am guessing the top pic has to be the early 50’s and the lower pic as my Aunt Jackie is older than my mom would have to be mid to late 40’s.
That’s it for this morning… working on a review for this afternoon. 😀

I love old pics so thanks for sharing these, Sheila. I want to get a scanner soon and get my parents’ old black & whites saved. Enjoy your Saturday 🙂
Thanks Mary, enjoy your Saturday too.
OMG! I’m older than your mother. Love these old photos!! I posted something like this today too. Thanks for sharing.
LOL Kaye 😛
I had similar hair but my nickname was “lioness”. I like your mom’s nickname better!
I would have called her “Q Tip” Lisa 😀
Yes, I’m older than your mom, too. I love those black and white photos with the crinkly edges. We used photo corners to stick them in the album.
Your mom had curly blond hair like my granddaughter Fiona’s.
Here’s MY SATURDAY SNAPSHOT – and here’s
MY WEBSITE
I remember those photo corners Laurel! Unfortunately those old albums did nothing to keep the pics from yellowing….
The worst ones were the colored photos from the seventies…those turned orange!
Oh yeah… thats right!
I’ve always been crazy about old photographs! These are great; the one with your Uncle Dallas and your mom on the bike is priceless!
I love that picture Beth! 😀
How cute are they?! Love that head of curly white hair – she’s so precious 🙂
Thanks Trish! As she got older her hair went brown like mine.
Great photos. I love old photos.
I do too Esme. I do not have many – only what people have given me as we lost all our pictures in the house fire in 1980.
I love the old photos! Your mom is only 10 years older than me.
She was an amazing woman Kathy. 😀
Great old pictures! I love the woman in the background of the first one, looking worried.
Saturday Snapshot
I know! 😀 I think that is my moms mom, Fern but I am not sure… if so, then Ferns mom would be my great grandma pictured below and my great grandmas mom is next to her – my great great grandma!
You are right….those old photos have that something special! I love them. Loved the one of your mom on the trike…especailly the background of the woman looking thru the screen door.
I always love stuff like that….cuz there is such a story there.
Nice pictures.
I bet there is Debbie 😀
Sheila, It’s great to have those old photos and see the people we only knew as adults when they were little kids. Here’s Mine
Thanks Paulita- I agree 🙂
Don’t you just love old pictures. My mom left several, I just wish that she would have wrote on the back of them or wrote down family history because now she is gone and so is our link to the past. Hopefully our generation will do better with all this great technology. Have a great Saturday!!
Exactly Lori – I found trunk in the basement after her death all filled with pictures of people I did not know… class pictures, get togethers… eventually I let them go as no one knew who they were.
Love these fabulous old memories — very nice Sheila
Thanks Diane… I do too… the houses in the background… I have no idea where these homes were….
I love old photos and am glad you shared these with us. Your mom was quite a blonde – her hair was so fluffy. Those two look like kids on a mission. LOL
Her hair is really funny there… so light and yeah… fluffy! My hair was never like that – always brown and thick and as a child… usually messy (I was such a tom boy!)
I love these old photos too. I wish someone would have written on the backs of the ones I have so I don’t have to guess when and where they were taken!
I have names on these Leslie but not years -and my great great grandma says Grandma Cole and it dawned on me this morning – I don’t know if I ever knew her first name (or know it now…) she was always Grandma Cole to me…
That picture of your great grandmother and great great grandmother is amazing! I love old family photos. I have a few of my grandparents when they were in their late teens/early twenties that are just beautiful. It’s wonderful to have a memento of where you come from.
I really need to do something with these – currently they are just in a bix but I should try to preserve them better.
Me too. I’d like to frame them and arrange them like a collage on the wall.
That’s a good idea Kate!
Both photos are wonderful! I love the first one because of the cute kids and the worried woman in the background – so typical mom stuff!
As I look at the picture Alyce I think there are two women watching…. you can see the shadow and dress of a second person…. I am so curious who it might be!
Such wonderful old family photos. I have one very similar to the second one.
I ams o glad I dug them out of the box 🙂
I love old family photos! Very cool.
