Morning Meanderings…

Good morning!  SATURDAY!!!!  Did you know this is my favorite day of the week?  I love Saturdays, they are days that only have things “to do” in them (usually) that I put there… not put there for me :D.  Today is one of those Saturdays.  I am going to go help a friend this morning and then hit the gym for Zumba after that.

Then I think I will be home.  I would love to do a little reading… and little writing.

For Alyce’s Saturday Snapshot I thought I would post some old pics’.  Don’t you love old pictures?  I always look at them in awe when I think how much photography has changed in just a couple of generations…. we can do so much with a picture now…

This is my Uncle Dallas on the bike and my mom, Elaine riding on the back. My mom said her nick name growing up was "ping pong" because her hair was white blond as a child.

Neither of the pictures have dates on them but my mom was born in 1948 so I am guessing the top pic has to be the early 50’s and the lower pic as my Aunt Jackie is older than my mom would have to be mid to late 40’s.

That’s it for this morning… working on a review for this afternoon. 😀

  1. I love old pics so thanks for sharing these, Sheila. I want to get a scanner soon and get my parents’ old black & whites saved. Enjoy your Saturday 🙂

OMG! I’m older than your mother. Love these old photos!! I posted something like this today too. Thanks for sharing.

    1. I know! 😀 I think that is my moms mom, Fern but I am not sure… if so, then Ferns mom would be my great grandma pictured below and my great grandmas mom is next to her – my great great grandma!

  3. You are right….those old photos have that something special! I love them. Loved the one of your mom on the trike…especailly the background of the woman looking thru the screen door.
I always love stuff like that….cuz there is such a story there.
    Nice pictures.

  4. Don’t you just love old pictures. My mom left several, I just wish that she would have wrote on the back of them or wrote down family history because now she is gone and so is our link to the past. Hopefully our generation will do better with all this great technology. Have a great Saturday!!

    1. Exactly Lori – I found trunk in the basement after her death all filled with pictures of people I did not know… class pictures, get togethers… eventually I let them go as no one knew who they were.

  5. I love old photos and am glad you shared these with us. Your mom was quite a blonde – her hair was so fluffy. Those two look like kids on a mission. LOL

  6. I love these old photos too. I wish someone would have written on the backs of the ones I have so I don’t have to guess when and where they were taken!

    1. I have names on these Leslie but not years -and my great great grandma says Grandma Cole and it dawned on me this morning – I don’t know if I ever knew her first name (or know it now…) she was always Grandma Cole to me…

  7. That picture of your great grandmother and great great grandmother is amazing! I love old family photos. I have a few of my grandparents when they were in their late teens/early twenties that are just beautiful. It’s wonderful to have a memento of where you come from.

  8. Both photos are wonderful! I love the first one because of the cute kids and the worried woman in the background – so typical mom stuff!
