Good morning! 😀
This past weekend I was up North with a couple of friends. It is a tradition to go the last weekend of July and one of the reasons I love this trip is the Silver Bay Book Sale. Yup, at 8:45 am on Saturday the three of us waited in a short line to get in the library when the doors opened at 9.
Here is what I walked out with:
Now to bad at a 25 each on the paperbacks and $1.00 for the hard cover. Two books I am really excited about are Shanghai Girls as I have yet to read Lisa See and A Night To remember because I am fascinated with all things Titanic.
Brainerd’s library sale is this Thursday. It is a much bigger sale and I am quite sure I will have a larger pile than this to post on Friday. 😛

You are going to love Shanghai Girls!!! Please let us know what you thought about it.
Oh I will! 😀
I love book sales, somehow I always end up with a whole bag full. I am trying to limit myself until I actually read and pass along some of the books that are already in my house. So many always jump out at me. I hope you enjoy your new finds!
I try Jill but these sales will not happen again now until spring! LOL…. I am getting better at reading and passing along though 😀
Can I borrow the Kate Atkinson? I’ll be right over. (I wish) I love library sales! 🙂
Come on over Care – coffee is on! 😀
Nice loot! I have a copy of Don’t Lets Go for the Dogs Tonight that I picked up at BEA. I think it looks really good.
Oh cool! I didnt even realize it was a newer book!
That looks like a great stack of books. Have read one or two of them – it’s so good seeing people about to start books you know and love. Hope you enjoy the Kate Atkinson in particular!
Thanks I have not read Atkinson yet but sounds like I need to.
Sheila, I was also out of town this weekend and had to resist going to a used book sale. We recently moved and I still have boxes to unpack-I need to finish that off before adding more to the load.
I dont think I knew about your move…. you will have to email me and share details! 😀
your book sales are incredible! must say loved snow flower and the secret fan ..shanghei girls not so much…maybe i was expecting too much because a friend raved about shanghei girls…and the sequel to it just came out!
would look forward to your review of the titanic one…love titanic and the holocaust…it sounds bad but the tragedybehind it all just makes for spellbinding reading and since you know it really happened your brain just whirls around
have heard of birth house…good things
some of the others have been on my shelves forever…maybe you reading them will make me pull them down!
I actually bought that one last month (full price) because I heard such good things about it. I am hoping to nominate it for our September book club read and picked up this copy for 25 cents. 😀
I know what you mean about Titanic and Holocaust… like is so not the right word but I do that too…. I appreciate knowing more about these topics.
It looks like you found some real bargains!
I did Kathy! There sale is not very big but I am drawn to the oversize paperbacks and not many of the other shoppers started there so I had the space to myself 😀
Ooh, I see some good ones there! I haven’t read that Kate Atkinson…love her books!
The Jacquelyn Mitchard is one I have and loved reading….
Also Anita Shreve’s A Wedding in December.
Enjoy!
I have not read Jacquelyn Mitchard since Deep End Of The Ocean which was BEYOND FANTASTIC!
I loved both of the Lisa See books! I have not read A Night to Remember but it does sound very good. You did good at this sale. I can’t wait to see what you pick up at the Brainerd sale!
I need to read the Lisa See books – I have heard so many wonderful things about her!
I’m surprised you found Shanghai Girls. Usually they need all the copies for the newer books. Looks like a good stash, though!
I do pretty good at our sales with the newer titles too! I am pretty excited about Thursdays sale!
Oh how I love library sales! You did really well.
Thanks Vivienne! The big one is Thursday… I actually show up for it two hours early 😀
Our book sale is this Fri. and Sat. I can’t get there until Sat. this year but I know there will be tons of books to choose from. Big day!
Oh awesome Barbara! It is a big day – you will have to do a post so I can see your books 😀
I love a good book sale! The Titanic book sounds right up my alley. I read The Scandalous Summer of Sissy LeBlanc a few years ago and really liked it.
I was so excited when I seen it! I have heard about this book, read many about Titanic, but never this one 😀
I am with you! I can not resist a good library book sale! Looks like you picked up some goodies.
Treasures! 😀
What great finds! Book sales like that are the best. 🙂
LOVE them Alyce! 😀
I loved Shanghai Girls, I hope you’ll enjoy it too 🙂
I think I will – just need to make time to read it 😀
