Good morning! Happy Thursday!
I have mentioned in recent posts that every winter I usually pick a TV show that I have enjoyed and spend the winter evenings watching all the seasons. Last year it was all the Gilmore Girls seasons (one of my all time favorite tv shows!) and this winter Chance and I have been working our way through the LOST episodes.
If you have been a fan of LOST you certainly know about the numbers.
4 8 15 16 23 42
These numbers are a big part of LOST right from the beginning and they all have to do with the character of Hurley playing these numbers in the lottery and winning big. However – the numbers are supposed to be cursed and all these bad things start happening to Hurley and his family (a house fire, a family member dies, a business is purchased and then blows up…)

Yesterday afternoon I heard about the Lottery numbers that recently were drawn through the MEGA MILLIONS lotto and the numbers winning Tuesday nights jackpot of $355 million were:
4 8 15 25 47
and the mega ball: 42
😯
I know right? The funny – or not so funny thing about the numbers being so close to the LOST numbers is that people who played these numbers really did not think about how many other people also played the LOST numbers.
Final answer: 41,763 had those numbers in their tickets, giving each winner:
$150.00 😯
Still… a win is a win I guess. 😀
Sorry if I “lost” all you non LOST watcher readers out there with this post. I just thought this was too good to pass on chatting about.
Hope everyone’s day is wonderful. You may have noticed that I have been sadly short on book reviews this week. I am bummed by that but the honest truth is that I have had a meeting every night this week (including tonight…) and with work all day I have had minimal reading time. I have a couple of books close and I plan to break through this dry spell going into tomorrow (can you say “DAY OFF?” WOO WOO!) and through the weekend.
*Note that I never finished watching the episodes while they were on TV so PLEASE do not give me ant spoilers in the comments – I am currently on Season 4.

Oh man! Haha that’s a bit hilarious! 🙂
I laughed too Reagan!
I have never watched Lost, but I’ve been very curious about it.
That’s freaky about those numbers!
I have enjoyed watching them back to bak Laurel on DVD…. 😀
The numbers were so confusing and drove me nuts! I dreamt those numbers , LOL!
I was so shocked when I heard those numbers in the lottery, wow, unbelievable.
Hope your enjoying LOST, my favorite show ever! Its a joke in our house, whenever something makes us mad, we say “what Sawyer says!!” ( he ALWAYS says ” S*# of a B$#(@) Sorry for the expletive. :p
He does say that a lot doesn’t he Natalie? 😀 sawyer really cracks me up!
That is the most hilarious story I’ve heard in a long while.
I had to share that Amanda 😀
My son and I are LOST fans and were regular watchers. We have been re-watching and are on season 3. Enjoy!
Thanks Nise – we are enjoying it. Should finish season 4 this weekend and start on season 5.
That is so funny. They must be so gutted.
I agree Vivienne 😀
That is so funny about Hurley’s numbers and the real lottery, who would have thought LOL!
I absolutely loved LOST from the very first show. I hope you enjoy watching it!
LOL Deb, if you look at the articles on line about this I seen that Hurley has a blog and he talked about this happening.
You are not the only one who is busy in the new year.I have got more tutions than last week and my nights are going in preparing test papers…..my books are just waiting on my shelf to be read and here I am stuck with classes ! Well it is not all bad as it seems , the kids are really cool and I love teaching science and history so….things are working out for me to read a book this weekend. I am thinking on doing a Koontz like you……enjoy your evening !
Fiza I hate being too busy to relax…. I really need my down time… that’s how I energize again. Here’s hoping we both catch a break soon! 😀
I love this story! You just made me smile! xoxo
Good Rebecca! 😀
I just heard about this on the morning radio today!
Staci, Chance told me about it or I probably would have missed hearing about it. I dont really watch the news and never have radio on.
Any Lost reference works for me! Those numbers are ingrained in my head after my obsession with that show.
Trisha I am really enjoying the show a lot…. I am bummed that my evenings have been so busy lately that I really have not had a lot of time to relax and watch.
I heard the same story yesterday – very amusing!
We’re Lost fans here, too. My son has been watching on DVD, like you have, and we gave him Season 6 (the last one) for Christmas. He’s been coming home from school each day and watching one!
It’s a great series – enjoy!
Sue
I haven’t bought season 6 yet Sue but as we get into season 5 I will have to do that 🙂
I must confess that I never got into LOST … and from I have heard, I’m not sure I could follow it but I sure enjoyed reading this story!
I tried watching it when it was on TV Jenners and I was confused and occasionally missed an episode which left me even more confused…. watching them on DVD is working better for me 🙂
How uncanny that you talk about the LOST numbers here today, because only last night, my brother sprung those numbers on me out of the blue. I think it’s an omen sent to me straight from the LOST cast to rewatch the series soon!
Aths that is awesome! Those numbers stick in your head like Jenny’s Number (song from the 80’s):
867-5309
😆
Oh I ABSOLUTELY LOVE Gilmore GIrls. I will never understand why the show ended. Their banter, quick wit, and Rory’s academic drive were all inspring. I tend to rewatch all the seasons at least every other year. ~ Actually just found your Gilmore girls Challenge. Deffinitly signing up!!!!
That last year Patricia they had a new writer and I could feel and see the change – a lot of the “funny” wasnt there that last season – if you remember it was Lorilee fighting with Luke… and a lot of the funny parental happenings was gone too…. it was my least favorite of the seasons.
That’s funny that so many people were playing the numbers from LOST. Enjoy the series, it is going to get really GREAT as you keep watching.
Isnt it Kathleen? We are on season five and really loving it.
Never did watch LOST. Hmmm, 3 of those numbers drawn are three I play all the time.
Pat that is funny! I am not far enough into the seasons yet to know the meaning behind the numbers but I look forward to it…. and watching the bonus discs too so we can understand better.
