Morning Meanderings… My Hit and Miss With Harry Potter …

Good Morning!  I am truly thankful it is Friday!!!  I have had a super busy week and I am so glad to see that I arrived fairly unscathed to Friday morning.  I had a meeting o some sort almost every evening this past week.  Last night I had two tickets to go to the midnight Harry Potter release and due to unforeseen circumstances, we did not go.

I know, right?

So….. hopefully we will get there yet this weekend and I can give a “WOO HOO” report yet.  😀

In other random literary news, I received this list of the up and coming new releases.  Without having time to really look into these books, I would be interested in knowing more about #2, #5, #8, and #9.  I have read Fannie Flagg before and enjoyed the writing.

Any of these books catch your eye?

  1. So many books so little time, the Kate Morton is already on my wishlist and Doctor Zhivago I read many years ago. As for the rest tempting but I just cannot add more books to my lists at the moment, can I? Well maybe I can !
    Have a good weekend.

  2. I saw Harry Potter last night. Took my 13, and 11 year old daughters. My came along too, as did a friend of my 13 year old. I really, really liked the movie, but have not truly decided how I like the ending. Mind you, it is not a bad ending. I am just unsure of my thought. Anyway, my body is paying me back today for this midnight adventure. The girls actually went to school…I think they are crazy.

I am certain you will like the movie. Nevertheless, I look forward to your thoughts on it.

Books: I have been hearing great things about The Distant Hours. I want to read that one at some point.

    1. I am such a fan I am sure I will enjoy the move, just need to get there. It didn’t hurt my feelings that we didn’t go last night. I have had a busy week and was tired by 8 pm… a midnight adventure was sounding more and more like a commitment than a fun outing. 🙂

  3. Oh, that’s too bad that you didn’t get to go see it on opening night! I am actually going to watch it today. Considering that I fell asleep at 9:30 while trying to watch Half Blood Prince, I don’t think I’d make it through a midnight viewing.

I hope you get to see it this weekend and I look forward to hearing what you think!

    1. Christina I am hoping to go on Sunday. I think tomorrow (Sat.) will be a mad house. Sunday probably wont be much better but I do not want to wait too long and start hearing more and more about it…. 😀

We did the midnight show last time a Harry Potter movie came out and it was fun to see everyone dressed up.

  4. I’ve been wanting to read this new Fannie Flagg book…also, I picked up (but didn’t buy yet!) the Mary Ann in Autumn novel last week when I was browsing in the bookstore. It appears to be part of a series (Tales of the City) and looks really intriguing. I’m curious as to whether or not it’s important to read the other books first.

As for the Harry Potter movie, I’m so not into rushing to the first performance of these events, with the long lines that start before midnight, etc. I don’t understand the rush to see the first performance. Maybe I’m too old to get that, but it just reminds me of all the lines I’ve been forced to stand in over the years, and I have this feeling that life’s too short to stand in long lines! LOL

  5. Such a bummer that you missed HP! We have tickets to go see the movie tonight and I’m so excited!!

I read the Fannie Flagg book and thought it was pretty good. I want to read #5 too.

  6. Couldn’t do the midnight movie (my daughter and husband did). This will be the first one I don’t go to with the kids at the library. Really miss that. My husband and I will go at some point.
Am busy digging my house out for Thanksgiving. We had a mouse invasion while we were out of town for two weeks. 3 dogs and 2 cats and the mice still got into everything. I am having to pull EVERYTHING out of my pantry, broom closet, and an antique armoire (my fault, I hid a bag of chocolates in there and forgot about it), wash it and rearrange. I can’t believe how much damage they have done. Put traps out and caught 9 in two days. My cats are fired. I have found two other little cabinets they have been into, but they will have to wait.

    1. Pat what a bummer! I had an earlier “situation” this year which was odd as we had none the previous two years. Our neighbors have many cats and I am not a cat fan but my hubby says they keep the mince away which normally has proved to be true…..

a month ago I had a sign of one in my library… also my fault – I had left a bag of trail mix in there. As soon as I set a trap I had him the next night.
