Good morning! I am still wiping the sleep from my eyes as I write this. Today is not only a busy life day (work, work out, pick up my IHN guests and get them to place they are staying, BOOKIES book Club, and my hubby’s birthday), it is also a busy blog day (morning meandering, Immanuel’s Veins tour stop date, and my BBAW Interview Swap).
I feel like I should be popping Fred Flintstone vitamins and Red Bull. 😛
So it is early – but I need to get this party started. I love BBAW! This week holds within it everything I love about this book blogging hobby.
- Recognizing other book bloggers
- giveaways and celebrating
- Wonderful bookish topics
- Community! Community! Community!
What I wanted to do this week was to ask a question each morning of BBAW along with my morning chat and Coffee Cup. AND I am going to make the giveaways something that I really enjoy.
Today’s giveaway is for one of my guilty pleasures – really good chocolate and a great cup of tea. Both are wonderful accomplices to a good book on a cool Fall evening.
To enter – please let me know in a comment what that one book is that you recommend time and again and you feel is a must read. This giveaway is open for today only and the winner will be announced at tomorrow mornings meanderings. USA or Canada addresses please.
Have fun – oh, and don’t forget to check out my week-long BBAW Giveaway too, your comment here also gives you an entry there. 😀

What a fun prize! I’d recommend Three Cups of Tea by Mortenson.
Thanks Margie – and good pick I read this one, but I would like to red his new one about the schools.
I always recommend The Donovan Legacy by Nora Roberts.
I have not read Nora in years, thanks Linda, I will have to look into these.
More of a series but nevertheless, The Outlander by Diana Gabaldon. I can not begin so say enough good things about this series. It is a time commitment, since each book is well over 800 pages, but anyone who has read this agrees that it is worth the time. Of all of the books I still believe The Outlander (the first novel) is my favorite. It is the type of book that has a little bit of something for everyone.
Sarah I have heard good things about this series before too. Wow – and huge books! 😀
I always recommend What the Dead Know by Laura Lippman.
Thanks Carol – I am currently listening to a Laura Lippman audio that i am enjoying (see right side bar) so I bet this one is good too!
‘a stray drop of blood’ by roseanna white 🙂
Thanks Karen – I think that is a new title for me. 🙂
This year I have been recommending John Betcher’s books The Missing Element and The 19th Element. He is a self published author from Red Wing, Minnesota and his suspense novels are so good. He is working on Book #3 in the series and I really hope he finds a publisher.
Dollycas
Good picks Dollycas! I have read the first one and have the second. Thanks for the reminder! 🙂
There are a lot of books I recommend over and over. One of them, though, is The Shadow of the Wind by Carlos Ruiz Zafon. It’s bookish, it’s mysterious, and the setting’s gorgeous. Plus: The writing is amazing!
Thanks Hannah – it sounds amazing!
Oh, it is! One of my all-time faves.
Good morning! One of my current favorite books is THE SWAN THIEVES by Costova…a bit of mystery, a bit of flashbacks, art history, a bit physic thriller with the glaring theme of obsessive behavior…it’s an engrossing read!
Great choice Linda – I listened to this one on audio earlier this year. 🙂
I have two books that I have throughly enjoyed. One is OUT OF THE DARKNESS by Lilly Gayle. Vincent Maxwell is a vampire who wants to be human again and discovers that Dr. Megan Harper has discovered a possible cure to vampirism, so he worms his way into her research and into her heart as well. Can a vampire and a mortal find a way to blend their lives and in the process find happiness together?
The Other book is Sleeping With The Lights On by Brenda Whiteside. A great love story with heroine, Sandra Holiday who has pitfalls and summits, conflicts and resolutions that keep a reader spell-bound and can’t wait to find out what happens next. I am now a fan of both authors and can’t wait for their next books.
A cure for vampirism Rebecca? That is too awesome! The other sounds really good too – Sleeping With The Lights On…. new title for me!
I’m currently recommending Deep Creek by Dana Hand, a historical true crime novel that’s really engrossing.
By the way, happy birthday to your husband.
Thank you Barbara, I will tell him. Poor guy, I will not get home until after book club tonight about 8:30 pm. We will celebrate this weekend.
Pillars Of The Earth by Ken Follett is probably the book I recommend most often.
I have never read this Terry but have wanted to. Thank you! 🙂
And I thought I was busy! You’ve got a lot on your plate.
One book that I always recommend is Pillars of the Earth by Ken Follett. One of the best historicals I’ve ever read, but not inaccessible to non-readers of the genre. My mom is not a big historical fiction reader, but she loved this book too.
OOH Michelle – two for Pillars Of The Earth…. that’s a good sign! 😀
I am always recommending “The 5th Horseman” by James Patterson to others. The 5th Horseman was my first read of James Patterson’s books. I have been hooked since.
Thanks for the great giveaway Sheila and the opportunity to participate.
Hi Alexa – I have not read this one by Patterson. Is this a stand alone book? 🙂
Wow…that may be one of my favorite prizes ever!
I find myself trying to make everyone read An Abundance of Katherines by John Green
LOL Catie – I know right? I mean… its chocolate! 😛
The book I have probably recommended the most is The Secret Life of Bees by Sue Monk Kidd.
I do like this giveaway. Tea and chocolate is a win-win.
I have never read that one Jennifer, from such a big reader is you this must be an awesome read! 😀
The Alchemist by Paulo Coelho is a must read for young and old. A book about finding your personal journey offers inspiration to the reader. My kids are tiny, but I will read this book with them when they are a litte older.

Great book- I agree with you about this.
Thanks kjovus for this one. I have it on my shelf but I have not read it.
For well told fantasy I would go with the Last Herald Mage trilogy by Mercedes Lackey. For a excellent mystery you can’t go wrong with Agatha Chrsitie but And Then There Were None is my all time favorite. And last but not least for a great book to read in the fall I would recommend The Haunting of Hill House by Shirley Jackson.
fforgnayr@yahoo.com
Ryan I am going to get to Agatha Christie one day just because you recommend her so highly! 🙂
OOH and The Haunting Of House Hills just has a great title for a cold night! 🙂
I think you would love her writing. as you would The Haunting of HIll House……on my tope 10 list of all time.
The twentieth wife and A feast of roses by Sundrasen. great books.-did you say chocolate.
thanks
chocolate and croissants at yahoo . com
Of course Esme! You are just a better chocolate hoarder than I am…. I have to eat it…. I do however know where you hide yours. 😛
It really depends who I am talking to because I’ll read almost anything, but many people I know only read within one or two genre. For those who like good writing, history and a long running story line, I highly recommend PILLARS OF THE EARTH and its sequel WORLD WITHOUT END by Ken Follett. There are many good Christian Fiction authors. One I have enjoyed the past year is Deeanne Gist. Good historical details and a nice sense of humor. For those who like suspense, I recommend Julia Spencer-Fleming. It is set in the Adirondacks of NY, my home territory.
The one book that really impressed me this year was IMPATIENT WITH DESIRE by Gabrielle Burton. A story in mostly journal and flash back form about the Donner Party.
Vanilla Carmel tea, yum. I hadn’t seen that yet.
Three for Pillars Of The Earth – I think that one has to go on to my winter reading musts. 🙂
AND the tea is actually one that Ryan from Wordsmithonia recommended to me and he was right… so good!
If you can get PILLARS OF THE EARTH and WORLD WITHOUT END on CD to listen to, try it. The gentleman who does the reading is excellent. They are long – 32 CDs and 36 (or 38) CDs – , but well worth it.
No need to enter me in the giveaway, just stopping by to say hi during BBAW. I would probably recommend The Book Thief by Markus Zusak.
Hi Kathleen! *waves*
Great choice – The book Thief is an awesome read – LOVED it!
I honestly believe that every woman in America should read A Thousand Splendid Suns by Khaled Housseini. It is quite an eye opening novel! I can’t tell you how much I love a hot cup of tea on ….yes I will say it…a cold FALL evening.
Jo-Jo I am going to do that! I loved Kite Runner and can not wait to get to this book. I have it, just have not read it. 🙂
I would recommend A Thread of Grace by Mary Doria Russell. This book is memorable and beautiful. thanks for this lovely giveaway. Tea is my favorite drink all year long.
I am not sure I know that one Pearl but a wonderful title – I am going to check into this one. 🙂
always snow flower and the secret fan…..a great story and fascinating (and sometimes disturbing) history!
Thanks Diana – I have heard of this one and I really do wish to read it! Thanks for the plug on it 😀
I enjoyed your delightful post and todays was great. A Sea of Love by Santa Montefiore. This author transports me to faraway lands and gives me hope.
Thank you Ellie! 🙂
I am going to look into this book too – not sure I am familiar with it.
I’m in the UK but I just wanted to say that this is such an awesome giveaway! I’ve been recommending Before I Fall a lot since I read it.
I really enjoyed Before I Fall too Charlie! great pick! Stop back this week – I think I am going to do a gift card for Amazon and if you have access to Amazon you are eligible to win 😀
The entire Harry Potter series is one that I always recommend.
*hugs* to you Bluestocking! You are so right! Harry Potter is in my “comfort read” section and I refer to them often! 😀
Anything by Debbie Macomber, especially the Cedar Cove series! tracietrump@yahoo.com
Tracie I totally agree – I loved that series and found the title (addresses) to be so witty!
I would recommend The Sparrow by Mary Doria Russell. It’s a powerful book.
I would definitely recommend the Outlander series. I was skeptical about reading them because they are huge, but it was well worth the effort. Probably one of the best books I’ve ever read.
I would recommend “Ender’s Game” because not many people even consider science fiction books, and this one is outstanding.
I recommend The Gate to Women’s Country by Sheri Tepper. I find that not many people that I recommend it to have read it. I would describe it as dystopian feminist fiction. She has a lot of other books that range from fantasy and science fiction to fairy tale re-telling. And her writing is very intelligent, which is what attracted me to her books in the first place.
Yummy chocolate and tea. What a great give away you are hosting. The tea sounds delicious.
The one book I am always recommending is Wuthering Heights. That was one of the first classics I had to read in school and loved it and when ever someone asks for a classic title i recommend that.
cindysloveofbooksarc AT gmail DOT com
The Giver by Lois Lowry is one I recommend a lot.
Zoya by Danielle Steele. Even if you aren’t a lover of the author or historical fiction, I can’t imagine this book not affecting you in some way.
It was amazing.
I like Mary Higgins Clark-Two Little Girls in Blue.
I always tell people to read “The School Of Essential Ingredients” I just love that book…
I have so many favorites. One of my recent favorites is The Accidental Bestseller by Wendy Wax. It’s a story about writing and friendships.
Ohhh…Just one?? Well, I’m big on memoirs & one of the first memoirs i read was “If I A Missing or Dead: A Sister’s Story of Love, Murder and Liberation by Janine Latus or Loose Girl: A memoir of promiscuity by Kerry Cohen Hoffmann. I couldn’t put either down. They were addicting and I was sad when I was done reading the book because there wasn’t more to read!
Just one? Egads.
My most recommended book this year is Saving CeeCee Honeycutt by Beth Hoffman. Everyone I’ve told to read it has LOVED it.
Tea or chocolate just go with books and reading don’t they? I recommend Cry, The Beloved Country by Alan Patton. Everyone I know who’s read it was really moved by it. It is a modern classic. Thanks for the chance to win.
Well, I’m late, but no matter. I’d have to say the Wolf and the Dove – one of my favorite all time romances.
For people I know that won’t be offended, Kushiel’s Dart. For those who might be, Ragtime by EL Doctorow.
