Happy Sunday everyone.
The weekend went pretty fast for me. I know it’s not over but with Al being out-of-town I hoped to get more house stuff done – but did make a nice dent in projects.
Yesterday morning Wendy and I rode bike to Nisswa and had breakfast before we biked back. We had a great time and yes, Wendy is a coffee drinker – see exhibit A:

We had a waitress named Donna and it was her first day. We asked if we could sit outside as the restaurant was full so they sat us up and Donna took our orders saying we were her first outside customers. She was extremely friendly and Wendy and I both ordered the egg beater veggie omelets without cheeses and dry wheat toast. (Game on Diet people…. I have to stay on game) 😛
When Donna brought out our food she said it down and casually said, “I will be right back to refill your coffee cups. Your eggs look really tasteless.” She then proceeded to turn a little red and say, “I meant tasty!”
Wendy and I really laughed at this and totally left Donna off the hook. I told her that I thought this was probably a bad time to ask for salt and pepper then. Anyway – the omelets were tasty and Donna received a nice tip from us, and hopefully she had a good story to share with her family last night. 😀
Anyway – today promises to be lovely. I need to get myself ready for church, my final weigh in for the week and I will update the Game On Journal when I get back home.

Have a wonderful Sunday.
S
Thanks Tea!
Sounds like a pretty perfect Sunday to me.
I think so too Megan – nothing too pressing 😀
You crack me up with your photos….”Exhibit A”! Boy, I don’t know if I could eat an omelet without cheese…that’s the best part! Maybe that’s why the waitress slipped and said “tasteless”….too funny. It sounds like you two had a great time. Enjoy your Sunday. 🙂
LOL Jill – I told Wendy I had to have her picture drinking coffee so others would know that I hang around coffee drinkers 😛
Oh my, we had a pretty crazy restaurant experience this past week while all my family was in town, too. I’m not sure I’m ready to re-live it, though … :p
Oh now I am so curious Hannah – LOL
Drat, I knew that was going to happen!
OK, I’ll share just one part of the story: The restaurant ran out of baked potatoes, which is something that always confuses me – I mean, there’s a grocery store within walking distance, you know?
LOL – I hate that too when it is something you think they could just go get. You would think they would send someone to grab any emergency supplies!
Exactly. Doesn’t exactly seem irreplaceable. It’s like running out of milk. Sure, it sometimes happens at home, but hopefully not mid-meal. And if you’ve got people paying for it, well, run out the back door to the store, and hurry back! :p
Oh, that veggie, egg-white omelet is not as pretty as one with cheeses, etc., but I’ve done this kind of “diet,” and it’s much better than it looks. Plus, you get really used to it and feel bad if you eat anything else.
Like yesterday, I totally over-indulged at a bistro near the movie (where I went to see Eat Pray Love). I figured that if I was going to be watching a movie about food, I would satiate myself completely ahead of time. Well, I was so full, nothing they were eating looked even slightly good! Well, except for that pizza in Rome!
Now I wish I had snapped a photo of the food!
Today I should go have one of those egg-white omelets! So far, all I’ve had is a yogurt and my coffee.
Ooh I wish you would have snapped a picture of that food too Laurel! 😀
Omelet looks good. It would be really hard to give up the cheese though.
Went to church last night. Went to dinner at one of the local places we hadn’t yet tried. The manager is a young woman who used to work with our son. She fell at a waterfall this past week and broke her back and had a serious head injury (had a 5 hour surgery for that the other night) among other injuries. She has some feeling in her feet, so we are praying she won’t be paralyzed. In any event, she has a long road ahead of her. As with so many young people she has no health insurance. All profits at the restaurant last night went to her medical bills. I won’t start on a rant, but it is criminal that a country with our resources does not have universal health care. The health care sector is a huge profit machine and they will fight tooth and nail to prevent that from changing. I can not find the logic or rationale when they charge an insurance company $300 for a procedure but charge an uninsured individual $1200 for the same thing. Those who can least afford it are being charged the most. People are desperate and something needs to be done.
Pat what an awful accident! Thanks goodness she is alive! That was so great of the restaurant to do the benefit. Please let me know how things turn out for her.
Well, I suppose if I biked to the restaurant, I would want the cheese and the butter on my toast! After all, what is the point of exercise if you cannot eat what you want? LOL. I suppose that is why I am needing a diet and exercise regimen, yet cannot find one which I can stick to! Obviously you are a better woman than I, and I wish you well! Already off to a great start, I’d say 🙂
Lily it isnt always easy but I feel so much better when I am at my ideal weight. I have lost 7 pounds in the last two weeks so that makes giving up the butter and the cheese (oh how I love cheese!) worth it. 😀
Seven pounds?! Wow that is fantastic! Great job!!!
Thanks Lily, I am pretty excited too 😀
That story about the eggs if very funny! I love coffee too (just finished some as I was reading your post).
I’ve been working out a lot more lately and so disappointed because I actually gained a pound. I haven’t been really strict with my dieting, but I have been cycling, hiking and jogging. It’s so disappointing. For the next two weeks I’m going to try cutting out any eating/snacking after dinner each night to see if it makes a difference.
Alyce if you look at the Game On Diet on line they have a website, what I like about it is that it is not over kill but basically just reminding us to make healthy habits in the foods we choose and in life (like getting enough sleep). I have changed my snacking habits (for the most part) to mini healthy meals like an apple with low fat spring cheese, or celery sticky with Laughing cow cheese spread (which is YUM by the way!)
that looks totally yummy!
Thanks Marie – it actually was and I may have started a new tradition and incentive – to bike to Nisswa and have the veggie egg beater omelet 😀
Well, I have to agree with Donna – I think the omelet looks kind of tasteless. LOL Sounds like you had a great time!
It was good Kathy – it really was 😀
I’m with those above who say they prefer cheese on their omelets. But good for you, sticking to your goals!
Oh I would LOVE the cheese…. but I am 9 pounds away from my goal and by golly – those pants I posted at the beginning of the Game On Diet are going to fit – they are! 😛
You just started this diet 2 weeks ago, and have already lost 7 pounds? WAY TO GO!!
I should really start one too. I could totally skip the cheese on the omelet. I can handle eating “tasteless” food, and maybe even food that just doesn’t taste good to lose a few pounds. My problem is I am NOT willing to give up the cream and sugar in my coffee. I guess it wouldn’t be so bad for the diet, if I didn’t drink so much coffee everyday. I am just not willing to budge on that!
Marilu-
It has always been pretty easy for me to lose weight (at least so far). I am naturally active in my lifestyle, its my eating that gets out of control. I love food – pretty much all food.
As far as your coffee goes switch the sugar to Splenda and if you must have “cream” go for fat free or skim milk. Start with small changes. you can do this. 😀
I drink my coffee black and lots of it. I have a motto not to put calories into the beverages I drink unless it is a special occasion. I drink ice water, diet pop, love the little flavor packs you can put in your water…
I weaned myself off sugar in my coffee pretty easily, but the cream is quite a bit harder to give up for me. I generally don’t like getting calories in a beverage, though — although diet soda scares me. So: I generally just stick to water (and my coffee) and/or tea.
Hannah, I used to drink my coffee with so much cream and sugar in it it would make you sick. I had a large to go cup when I worked at Wal-Mart and in the morning I would fill that cup, probably the bottom 4th with those additions. BLAH!
I dont drink much pop at all and gave it up this month for the Game On Diet and don’t even miss it.
If I am going to have calories in a beverage it must be a good one – like…. a chocolate shake….LOL (but I could argue that is more of a dessert than a beverage!) 😛
