Morning Meanderings…

I am up.  Vertical is good.  Coffee is good, and my light croissant with peanut butter is good.  Last night I came home and fell asleep on the couch about 7:30 pm.  Then woke up at 9:00 and read…. then asleep again at 10 and didn’t get up until 6:45 this morning.

I am stretched, pulled, tired out, over booked, over whelmed, and over committed.  And… I am pretty sure I have lost my muchness.

Yup.  There it is.

Am I the only one that does this?  Says “Yes, Sure!”  “Oh absolutely!”  “Let’s see I have four minutes between 6:15 and 6:19, yeah, count me in!”

Today I work until 3.  Then I need to go to the post office because I have much to mail.  At 4:20 I pick up the people from the day center who are part of the program I am working with this week.  I make sure the people coming in to serve dinner tonight are comfortable before I make a run for it  home, shower, grab my clothes and a blanket and hurry back, because it is my night to stay over night for the homeless program.  Then I take them back to the day center by 8 am where I will then hurry home, load up the bikes, and meet my girl friends on the bike trail at 8:30 am where we are biking to Nisswa (18 miles one way) to shop and hang out for the afternoon and then bike back home.

I picture this version of me (I think it is me) with a smile plastered on my face laying passed out next to my bike.

Ok… I am done whining.  It is another gorgeous day in Minnesota.  I believe the forecast called for severe storms but I don’t see it.  Its sunny and welcoming and exactly what I need.  🙂

I have what I think is a fun post coming up later today…  hope you will pop in for it.

  1. I love the video clip – I didn’t see the movie (yet?) but I suppose we probably will since it has Johnny Depp and my husband is a huge fan. And I suppose I need to see it to find out how to get MY muchness back. Maybe peanut butter? Sounds like a plan!

    1. Jill, I went because of Johhny Depp and left loving the Red Queen… she is delightful and made the movie for me! Let me know what you think when you see it!

I feel pretty good after all that sleep…. we will see how I feel tomorrow… LOL

  2. Sheila, sorry to say, I am not like you. I guess that’s why I live vicariously through you and your energetic daily meanderings 🙂

This is me: “Oh, you want me to go with you? Unfortunately I’ve got a load of laundry to do today, so I’m going to be very busy. Maybe another time” (and then I grab a book and run to the couch…see…’run’…THAT’S energetic.

    1. Lynne, I need a bit of that “no” power. My problem is…. everything sounds like a blast and I want to do it! 😀

      If I ran less… I could read more…. hmmmmmmmm

  3. And I thought my life was busy! Wow! Biking 18 miles one way to shop is not something I would ever do willingly. First, there’s the biking part! And on top of that, I don’t enjoy shopping at all. Unless, of course, you’re going to a book store. Then I might be willing to bike the 18 miles!

    1. Julie I am not much of a shopper either. Nisswa is more of a touristy town – it has cute shops great for browsing. Plus I was thinking no one can but much – we are on our bikes 🙂

  4. Go SuperWoman Go! The Lord will provide you with strength and ability to do all that you need to do (you are doing a wonderful thing for the homeless…you will be rewarded!) and then some. You have a wonderful spirit…have a great day!

  5. Oh, I have a vague memory of that kind of life…hmm, but then I became selfish (post-retirement, new free-lance life) and erected boundaries.

I do leave room for family and occasional get-togethers, but my first priority is blogging, writing, reading, writing, more blogging…and watching movies I love…and then, if there’s time for those other things, okay, I’m in.

Like yesterday I met another retired friend (newly retired, so she’s still flailing about a bit), and we had Mexcian food (and a Margarita!).

I should do some more physical activity, though. I look at my workouts as something to “get through.” To me, they’re not fun, unless the gym has a nice group of chatty women, which makes the time fly. See, something to “get through.”

    1. BOUNDARIES!!! That’s the word I need in my vocabulary Laurel! LOL

      Actually I am just grumbling… I love everything I do 😀

For your workouts – you need a buddy. I was just telling my friend Jennifer the other day that I wouldn’t always make it if it were not for the fact that i am meeting someone. We laugh obnoxiously on the tread mill and we really make working out fun.

This time of year I am so busy I tell people if they want to catch up I really do not have time to sit and do lunch, but I will gladly meet them on the bike trail to walk, bike, blade, and talk 🙂

  6. All I know is, if I were to bike 18 miles, I would be hot, sweaty, nasty, and in no mood whatsoever to shop. You are one busy, energetic woman! I don’t think you’ve lost your muchness; I think you’ve tired it out. 🙂

    1. Thanks Trisha 🙂 We will see how it goes… I bike quite a bit but the other three not so much so I hope they know what they are getting in to 😉

  7. Sheila-you the most energy of anyone who I know-I know that No is not in vocabulary-and you probably get energized by all you do-get some time in just for you.

    1. Thanks Esme, sweet of you… I think my issue is

      *cough cough “overachiever!” couch*

I need to knock that off…. seriously, everyone’s cape needs a wash day right? 😀

    1. Its not always like this Patty. Seems like I run like this for a few days and then crash and want to go nowhere and this is when I read. 🙂

You would think I could find a happy medium…..

  8. Wow! I thought I was someone on the go; I got nothing on you! I do hope you pay attention to that little voice in your head that tells you when to take some time and relax! 🙂

    1. Oh Helen… I smothered that voice a long time ago with a mint sized pillow….

Kidding…. I know…. I am thinking after tomorrows bike ride I should have the afternoon to veg a bit. 😀

    1. HI Jill 🙂 The bike ride is tomorrow morning… no way I would have fit that into today. 🙂

I think it will be fun and I hope to get a picture of all of us together so that will be fun. I do love my friends….

  9. Have been watching the weather channel tonight and you have been having some terrible weather out your way. Hope it missed you.

I used to be one who over-committed all the time. Not so much anymore. I have tried to get involved, but not many want the Yankee outsider. Once I get my house squared away, there are several directions I intend to try for volunteering. Our church also participates in the interfaith hospitality program. I haven’t been able to help in the past, but will be checking it out. I don’t think our church hosts anymore, just provides meals. It is a 40 mile round trip to church, so we aren’t as involved as we have been other places we’ve lived.
