What Are You Reading, is where we gather to share what we have read this past week and what we plan to read this week. It is a great way to network with other bloggers, see some wonderful blogs, and put new titles on your reading list.
I love being a part of this and I hope you do too! As part of this weekly meme I love to encourage you all to go and visit the others participating in this meme. I offer a weekly contest for those who visit 10 or more of the Monday Meme participants and leave a comment. You receive one entry for every 10 comments, just come back here and tell me how many in the comment area.
Last weeks winner (using Random.Org) was:

Congratulations! Please choose an item out of the PRIZE BOX (new items added!) and email me your choice with your mailing address as well! journeythroughbooks@gmail.com
Another whirlwind of a week. I completed a second bike tour, have book club in two days already and can not believe BEA (Book Expo America) is in two weeks and I will be going to New York for the first time ever!!! *Squee with excitement!
Everything seems to be happening so fast and as I sit here making this post I admit… I am a bit overwhelmed.
Here is what took place here in the last seven days
Caught by Harlan Coben (review of this one on audio and I think I may have goofed and should have read the book!)
Life In Spite Of Me by Kristen Jane Anderson – 2 copies to give away!
A Distant Melody by Sarah Sundin (Review)
I have a wee bit of Gilmore Girls attack…
Dead End Gene Pool by Wendy Burden ( a look into the lives of the Vanberbilt’s as told by a granddaughter)
The Arrival by Shaun Tan ( my first graphic read and I highly – HIGHLY recommend!)
The Girl She Used To Be by David Cristofano (Review will be posted after our Tuesday book club)
Would you believe everything I said I was finishing last week I am still working on?
Kite Runner on audio…. I thought I would finish it easy with my trip to the cities and back and I did listen to it all the way but am on cd 8 of 11……
House Rules I am listening to while cleaning house and while I get ready in the am and thought for sure I would be done… but even listening to it today for hours, it is not complete.
Columbine by Dave Cullen – I was going to finish this my night in the hotel before the bike ride and forgot to bring it!
But… they are almost complete so I do have a few things on brew for this week…
A little Minnesota mystery is in store this week and I am excited to dig into John’s book!
The next book out of the library sale treasure box. This one will be read and then passed on to its new owner, Jackie (Ever Expanding Library)! Looks spooky doesn’t it?
And finally – I am making my way to book three in the Michael Sullivan series and will then give my review of these amazing books as well as chat with author Michael Sullivan with what is to come.
So that’s the plan – I am excited to see what you are reading as well so please be sure to use the Linky and connect your Monday What Are You Reading post! 😀
You have got quite the list of books. I had a much better week this past week. The Girl she used to Be is one on my wishlist as is Columbine.
Zia you are always so on the ball with your Monday post! 😀
Dang girl! You always amaze me! You do so much it makes me want to take a nap! Hehe. What a great past week you had – and a huge one coming up. I hope you had a wonderful Mother’s Day!
Here’s my list (very wee compared to yours!)
Bibliobabe’s Reads – oh and I will post on Mr. Linky – always forget about him.
Rachelle – I am tired tonight… it was a long weekend. Mothers Day was good – thank you!
You are such a busy lady! Lots of activities and books, not to mention work…hope you have a really great week.
HI Laurel 0 hope your week is wonderful too 😀
Sheila I’m SO excited for BEA! Now that graduation is over I’m ready for summer officially!
Reagan I cant believe we are less than two weeks out. We have been talking about it for so long now I am amazed it is almost here. 😀
I’m so jealous you’re off to BEA – I think I need to move to America so I can go to all the cons LOL. Looks like you’ve got some great books coming up 🙂 I hope you enjoy them all & I’ll look forward to your reviews
Sarah I am hoping to have many posts from BEA to keep everyone up to speed on what is happening 🙂
I hope you get to finish the books you are working on. It always takes me longer to listen to audiobooks. I tend to listen while driving in the car so I always listen to each CD twice in case I missed something the first time around. Really the only audiobooks I listen to now are the Harry Potter books. So entertaining for longer drives.
Have a great week!
Christina I was really surprised too that I didnt get the audios done. They both are close though and I am loving them! 😀
I am looking for the third Harry Potter book on audio 🙂
“Would you believe everything I said I was finishing last week I am still working on? ” – That happens to me quite a lot of times. LOL! Those weeks, I’m usually embarrassed to post the monday meme.
Have a good week as always!
Aths – I think when we post what we didn’t accomplish as well as we did read it makes up real 🙂 Sometimes books appear on my Monday list two, even three times 😀
You have a great week too!
We have read a lot of the same novels. You had a great last week and I look forward to what you think of The Boneman’s Daughters. I also have The Missing Element to read. Have great week of reading.
HI Jennifer, I have seen that too – I think we have similar tastes in books 🙂
Enjoy your week – I am looking forward to your reviews.
Thanks so much Sheila! I sent you an email with my choice.
I too am looking forward to your review of The Boneman’s Daughter. I bought it at a library sale awhile back.
I’m hoping to participate in “It’s Monday” this week, but not much has changed in my reading since last week…LOL!
Hi Michelle 🙂 I am glad to have an excuse to read Boneman’s Daughter – who knows how long it would have sat there before I got to it? 🙂
I have read The Girl She Used to Be and Boneman’s Daughter – I will be interested to read your thoughts on those.
Here is my Monday.
HI Kristi – thanks 🙂
Congrats to Michelle!
Hope you have a wonderful week and I can’t wait to see what you think of the Dekker book.
Me too Ryan 🙂
Wow..So many even if you so busy!Good luck and way too jealous wit so many list of books read. keep it up!
Read the Kite Runner a few years back and enjoyed it, and still want to read House Rules. Interested to see how you like both of these. I listen to my first audio last week and have been listening to it again because it was so amazing. Hope you have a great week.
Jan I am enjoying both of them… what audio did you listen to? If you get a good one – they are amazing!
i wish i can go to BEA. it seems many bloggers are going and i’m very envious. all the books you listed (except for kite runner) are new to me titles and authors. have an awesome reading week 🙂
HI Chelleyreads – this will be my first time and I am really excited!
Kite Runner has been on my shelf for years… no idea why it took me this long. Enjoy your week 🙂
I’m always amazed you get anything read, you are always so crazy busy but hey audiobooks are awesome for mulit-tasking LOL.
I was a bit bummed to read that Caught may have been better read. I love Harlan Coben but usually read his books, this is the first of his I’m trying on audio *sigh*. Knew I shouldn’t have deviated 🙂
Happy reading this week and a big {{hug}} to you cause you’re missing your mum too
Teddyree, I will be really curious to see what you think of the audio. I love Harlan too and had a hard time with the womans voice on the audio…. her “male voices” drove me nuts and I found it distracting from the story line.
I am curious if others feel the same.
Thanks for the hug 🙂
What a great idea, this weekly event! I posted my “It’s Monday” blog for the first time (http://leeswammes.wordpress.com). I’ll be reading other people’s. Such a great way to find out what people are reading!
Woo hoo leeswammes! Welcome – hope you enjoy the meme 😀
Hi, Sheila! I’m looking forward to your Sullivan reviews 🙂
Happy reading! 😀
Aleksandra – I am too! I had no idea it would take me this long to read them as I am loving them – but other books have come into the mix as well 🙂
The 19th Wife, fascinating!
Hi LindyLouMac, I havent read that one yet – is it good?
Watch out for my review! At the moment although interesting I am finding it rather slow.
Busy week for you! I’ve got Boneman’s Daughter on my stack this week as well.
Oh good Nise, it will be fun to see what we both think of it! 😀
I see great books here!

http://satoya-writes.blogspot.com/2010/05/its-monday-what-are-you-reading-3.html
Thanks Sa Toya!
I’ve been curious about Boneman’s Daughter for a while now. May have to pick it up from the good ol’ library at some point in the near future.
I think it will be a good one Michael, Dekker usually is!
I haven’t read any of these books! (Or heard of them)… Well, except for KITE RUNNER! 🙂 I guess it must be a longer read than A THOUSAND SPLENDID SUNS which was finished in just a few hours..
Kite Runner is 11 CD’s and I think I have listened to it for 6+ hours now.
I haven’t got to A Thousand Splendid Suns yet either.
Wow, Sheila – all those books and you did another bike tour, too? Pretty impressive!
I’ve been hearing good things about Dead End Gene Pool, and I really liked The Girl She Used to Be. I want to read House Rules, too – just not enough time for all the good books in the world!
How exciting that you’re going to BEA – I’ve always wanted to go. Hope you enjoy it!
Have another good reading week –
Sue
I did do the bike tour Sue…. COLD! You are right there isnt enough time to read everything, thats why I love audio books… I had 6 hours in a car this weekend…. listening to Kite Runenr all the way 🙂
Love your blog! I’ve never entered the ‘visit 10 other Meme participant sites’ before – but I did it today! Not sure what else I am suppose to tell you… lol
Thanks!
Hi Laura – thats it… you just need to let me know. 😀 Every 10 stops puts you in for an entry.
I have Boneman’s Daughters on my TBR List and I also cannot wait to get a hold of Dead End Gene Pool. As always I bow to your reading ability lol. If i get one book done a week I am excited. and I am in no way as busy as you:) Stop by soon my friend:)
Hi Bobbie – life has been crazy busy but I get in reading when I can 🙂 I still need to connect with you on the interview – just need to make the time 😀
I loved The Kite Runner — I will be looking forward to hearing what you think.
Thanks Laughingstars – hopefully within the next week I will have it complete. 🙂
A busy week indeed. I’ve been hearing lots of good things about Ted Dekker so look forward to hearing your views.
Petty I would love to read your thoughts on Dekker!
I have a copy of The Arrival because I loved that graphic novel! So beautifully illustrated – glad you enjoyed it. I just finished House Rules and really enjoyed it. Have a great week!
Thanks Sami – I am really enjoying House Rules so far!
Great week you had. I am currently working on my post and didn’t do so great the past week.
I am going to BEA too its my first time there and in NYc. hope to see you around.
Happy Reading 🙂
Oh cool about BEA! That would be cool to see you there 😀 (I get the impression I am going to be like a kid in a candy store!)
I left my ten comments on various blogs. I always try to go to one that I haven’t seen before! Thanks for hosting this.
Thanks OutnumberedMama! 🙂
I am still looking forward to what you think of the Michael Sullivan series. I didn’t do so well this past week; too busy at work and with the kids.
Have a great reading week! I’m off to visit some blogs.
Hi Stephanie – I want to get the Sullivan book reviews out soon. I had the idea I wanted to release them all at once, just had no idea it would take this long. 🙂
Awesome list! Hope you have a great week.
Natalie :0)
Thanks Natalie 🙂
The Boneman’s daughter looks interesting I have it on my pile to read I hope you enjoy it! Have a great reading week!
Hi Heidi- I think I will enjoy it, I like this author.
I did not have much time to read this past week. Am finally finishing IMPATIENT WITH DESIRE about the Donner Party. Have liked it so far. Went to our daughter’s graduation last Friday (she got her Masters) and went without a book. That rarely happens. While looking for a place to have dinner, I found the library book sale store. Picked THE REAL WILD WEST by Michael Wallis and HER COLORADO COWBOY by Cheryl St. John, which I have wanted to read for a while. Started Cheryl’s book during our one hour wait for the ceremony to begin. Finished it yesterday. It is a Harlequin Historical, so a quick read. There are some good authors in this line and I have enjoyed Cheryl St. John’s books. Her stories usually have a slight twist to the heroine’s backstory that make her books interesting.
Cool about your daughter! How exciting Pat! I almost always have a book too. I usually regret it if I dont have one handy 🙂
The Missing Element is on my list too this week. Trying to catch up on my reviews.
HI Dollycas – oh good – hope we both enjoy it.
I LOVE Michael J. Sullivan’s books! 🙂 I can’t wait to see your review!
Thanks Heather – I cant wait to release them! 😀
Hi Sheila,
Visited 10 so far and found some great new blogs for an award I recently received. I LOVE THIS MEME!!
Hi Dollycas – sp glad you are having fun with it 🙂 Thats really what it is all about 😉
This is only my second week participating, but I’ve found some great blogs through this meme! Thanks for hosting it. I’ve visited and commented on 10 blogs today so far. And I’m loving all the comment love I’m getting at my humble little blog 🙂
I’m going to have to add so many book to my ever-growing TBR pile!
HI Super – glad you are enjoying it 😉
First of all, I’m so jealous your going to BEA! A couple of my friends and I are already planning for next year though. My baby will be 2 then so hopefully can spend a week with grandma or someone.
Now onto your books. I don’t remember The Kite Runner even being long so that’s crazy that it’s taking that long to get through it on audio. The rest of your books I don’t think I know anything about. The Ted Dekker one does look spooky!
HI Candace – how cool you are planning for next year 🙂 I am really excited about it!
I am excited as well to get into the Dekker book. 🙂
Sheila once again have to say you really read!!! I would not be able to listen to Audio book if knew a woman was the narrator for both male and females voices like books too much and Coben deserves the full attention of the reader!! The only other book on here recognize is Dekkers and have not read any of his work just seen on the shelves. As usual lots of good recommends found out on the other blogs so until next week…
jackie b central texas
Hi Jackie,
I found a couple good reads today too while looking at the blogs. I will be picking up the Coben book and trying it again. You are right Coben deserves my full attention 🙂
Have a great week!
I don’t know how you manage to get through all these books! 😀 I’m trying to set aside more time to read, but it doesn’t always work. I like to read in a nice quiet place and more often than not that tends to be in bed… Though once in a while I’ll manage to get a few pages read when I’m babysitting my neice and she is napping (which doesn’t happen often!).
HI Nikki Ann, I have no kids at home, hubby works long hours, I work part time and utilize books on audio and CD’s as well so I am almost always listening or reading something in the time I am hanging around the house or out traveling. 🙂
I’m still working on books from last week too!!!
It happens Staci – I am ok with that 😉
That’s an impressive list!
This is my first night off from grad school (I’ve got 18 whole days off from school!) and I intend to fill as much time available after work on reading.
This week I have The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo, and House of Night Book 1.
Woo Hoo Jenn on the graduation break 🙂
I want to read The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo!
Shaun Tan!!! I so want to read The Arrival and I’d love to get an original piece of his just to hang in my son’s room. hope you have a fabulous reading week!
1st Daughter – that would be cool to get an original Shaun Tan piece! Have a great week 🙂
I’ve now visited and commented on 20 blogs (and what interesting blogs they are… I’ve found a few recommendations!), but now I think it’s time I headed to bed to continue Angelology (it’s 10pm here in the UK, in case anyone thought I was off to bed rather early! Hehe).
Happy reading! 🙂
Good night Nikki-ann 😉 Thanks for joining in!
Sounds like you are quite busy. Your books look good. I have read one graphic novel and I liked it. I do have a second one for review and I want to read Caught by Harlan Coben. I like his writing style and of course the Ted Dekker one looks good to…
Celticlady I think you will like Caught, Coben is such a greta author. 🙂
I visited ten blogs this week and as usual checking out everyone’s great blogs brightened my day. Thanks for the great meme.
Thanks Rosalie – glad to hear it made your day a bit brighter ;D
I just discovered your Monday! What are You Reading and hope to use as a way to help be keep making progress with my TBR pile. I just keep getting distracted by the next interesting topic or story.
Boneman’s Daughter does sound truly spooky! That is one I would probably have to avoid reading at bedtime. Enjoy! 🙂
Those are some great books to be working on. 🙂 I am really looking forward to your thoughts on Michael Sullivans series. And to read your chat with Michael. Hope you have a great week!
Audio books are indeed a great way to supplement one’s reading. During my commute I’m listening to The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo by Stieg Larsson. And I’m reading A Killing In Comics by Max Allan Collins. I definitely recommend that one have very different kinds of books while doing this, though. I once was listening to story about a Swedish detective and was reading about a Norwegian one–and they both drove Peugeots! –Very confusing!
