Good morning all. This morning Coffee Cup and I are in Maplewood Minnesota and I am up and about as prepared as I am going to be for the MS bike ride this morning.
Current temperature: 36 degrees (weather man says it feels like 27 degrees)
Chance of rain this morning with 15 to 20 MPH winds.
Percentage of craziness I am feeling right now: about 92% and rising.
I drove up to Maplewood last night and once I arrived I realized the book I was planning on finishing last night (Columbine) is still sitting on my kitchen counter at home. Right where I put it when I was packing the car to go. I never am without a book so last night was odd and I finally just went to sleep.
Current time is 6:52 am and the ride starts at 7:30. I had better take off and see if I can find my team. I am seriously going to need other crazy people to motivate me to ride today. At this point I am planning on doing the 30 unless there is a real gung-ho group that encourages me to do the 60. I think the weather is going to knock me on my butt on this one.
Anyway – I will post an update tonight when I post my In My Mailbox post…. after I am back in Brainerd…. home… and safe…. and WARM. 🙂
Have a great day everyone. If you are planning on doing anything crazy (even tackling cleaning out a closet works), let me know so I can feel as though I am in good company. 🙂

Ooh…sounds like a thrilling day.
I’ll be hanging out with two of my older grandkids today, and that can be crazy! They’re teenagers and are going through that “I know everything” stage. Sometimes, if I can step outside the scene, it’s funny. I think that’s an advantage a grandparent has…the ability to detach a little, since we’re not their major source of discipline, although I do have to issue warnings and reminders, sometimes; but it’s different enough that I don’t usually get caught up in their stuff.
Yesterday’s craziness was lots of house cleaning, which I put off until it’s absolutely necessary! Our weather was in the eighties yesterday and I’m thinking it will be again today. Don’t know yet, since it’s only 6 a.m.
Sad about leaving the book…it must have been a bit like leaving your arm behind!
Hanging out with teens Laurel – that is crazy! LOL Just kidding, I bet you have fun and it is cool that you get to have tie with them. 🙂
Yes I am still bummed about forgetting the book… it will be my goal tonight to complete it.
I don’t know if lying on the couch reading because my husband is out of town constitutes as crazy, hence make you feel you’re in good company, but that’s what I’m doing today. Lol.
Stay warm Sheila 🙂 and way to go for freezin’ your booty off for a wonderful cause. You inspire me. (but not today..hehe)
Lynne – the couch sounds – WARM. I am home now and still chilled and I even drove 2 1/2 hours home with the heat cranked.
Oh well – it was bonding with part of the team I will be riding with in June for the 150.
Sheila, I admire your dedication. You’re going to be a popsicle at the end of that ride. Hope you get lots of warm stuff to drink afterward.
Me, I’m reading CUTTING FOR STONE today for my book group meeting week after next. I’m finding it quite unputdownable.
Kay for sure my feet were Popsicles by the end of the ride. I am home now and still chilled drinking coffee. 🙂
Wow..your adventure does sound like craziness for sure!! The weather here in Michigan sounds just like yours!!! I’ll be thinking of you and I’m sure a hot hot bath and a huge cup of coffee will be calling your name by the end of that ride!!!
Nothing crazy going on here…except I’m venturing out to my public library and I for sure don’t need to add any books to my shelves but I will!! 😀
It felt a little crazy Staci but the sun peaked out a bit here and there. I think the temp got to 45 degrees by the time we were done.
Have fun at the library – its a favorite stop for me and I dont need any books either 😀
What terrible weather to be out riding, hiking, or doing much of anything. Hope it doesn’t get too bad. Stay safe and have a good ride. That cup of hot coffee will be sooooo good when you finish and can sit back and enjoy it.
Pat it was cold but it could have been worse. It did not snow and sprinkled a bit but did not rain on us. 😀
Best of luck with this one Sheila-there is nothing about this that sounds fun-I admire your determination to go out and do it.
Esme I truly did not want to go this morning and would have been just as happy to hop back in my car and drive home. Yet, I made a commitment and I am a stickler for keeping commitments.
Stupid morals….LOL 🙂
Aah .. when you said last night that you left your book at home, I should have asked you which book it was as well. Any book left on the table is ok. But Columbine? I don’t even want to ask you where you reached in the book, in case I give you a double panic attack about hints on the intriguing scenes coming up.
Nay, have a brilliant day !! 🙂 Run home and read!! 🙂
Aths – yes Columbine! I was in a perfectly quiet setting where I could have dived in and forgot it! I am at the point where the crosses that were put up were destroyed and now the man who built them has made more…
I still have a ways to go
Brrr….I am cold just thinking about you riding in that weather! We (hubby, son, daughter, and I) are heading off to my parents’ church for a Mother-Daughter banquet. The men are serving and the ladies are celebrating the day!
Dawn – hope the banquet was fun – that sounds nice!
I’ve got to say that I don’t envy you at all. I am planning to stay nice and warm at home here in Southern Minnesota.
I had a medical procedure yesterday and, while I feel fine, I was told not to drive, take care of dependents, or make legal decisions for 24 hours. So, here I sit, reading and blogging (which is likely how I would have spent my Saturday anyway.)
Keep warm!.
Kathy – by the time I drove home Brainerd was looking pretty nice out and after a nap (I had to warm up!) I went out and mowed our lawn in a t shirt.
Only in Minnesota can you go from a winter storm warning one evening and then mow your lawn in a t shirt the next day…. GAH!
I wish you and your biking buddies lots of luck. Even with the cold, I wish I could join you. I’d be ok except maybe my nose would be cold. For some reason the cold doesn’t bother me as much as the heat, or should I say humidity. Can’t stand the humidity.
Thanks Vicki! I am the opposite. I can bike in 80 – 90 degree weather and love it. Its easier to bike when my knees aren’t knocking together – LOL 😀
Yikes! I wish you’d gotten a warmer day for biking. I hope you have fun anyway. And 92% crazy is pretty much my baseline. 🙂
It was fun to hang out with Rhonda, Belinda, Sheila (yes – another Sheila!) and Rhondas son Dylan. I am biking with this group + 14 more for the MS 150 in June so this was a great shorter ride to get to know each other.
At least it didn’t snow!
Lisa I had made up my mind if there was snow on the ground this morning that is where I draw the line…. I mean I admit to crazy – but come on! 😀
Good luck Sheila! Hope there’s a hot tub waiting for you at the end of the ride…preferably filled with gorgeous young men to massage your shoulders! 😀
No hot tub Alexia but they were offering back massages. (Not gorgeous men…. LOL)
I was too cold to do that – I picked up my t shirt, said my good byes and ran for the car where I could crank the heat and listen to The Kite Runner on CD all the way home 🙂
I hope your ride went well!!!
LOL Your percentage of craziness cracked me up Sheila, I think I should have a “crazy barometer” so I know when it’s safe to face the world 🙂
The weather extreme sounds crazy but looks like you had fun inspite of it and for such a good cause!
LOL Teddyree – you are welcome to share my crazy meter 🙂
I am so sorry I missed this post. I have been busy this weekend. I am so sorry it was so cold and I am even more sorry you left your book. I have to have something to read when I am in a motel room. I hardly ever watch TV and since I don’t sleep well to begin with I would have gone crazy, lol.
Bobbie you are so funny! 🙂 The TV did suck… there was nothing on – I think I found an old Friends episode but finally gave up. I am so into the book I was bummed – but at least I got a lot of sleep before the ride 🙂
Is there any reason why the McLinky is closed off 2:30pm today? I couldn’t add my Monday link.
