House Rules by Jodi Piccoult (audio- in IPOD) just started
Kite Runner by Khaled Hosseini (audio in car) just started
The Girl She Used To Be by David Christofano (Book Club read for May)
Love In Mid Air by Kim Wright ( Review with Kim later this week!)
My week might seem lofty but I don’t think so. I am loving the Jodi Piccoult audio and suspect I will have that done in the next couple of days. I have a bike ride this Saturday which will put me on another road trip tot he cities and that should help me listen to most of Kite Runner.
As always, I am looking forward to seeing what you are reading this week! Be sure to link your post to the Linky here! 😀

I’ve been wanting to read the Columbine one for awhile now. Sounds like it would be a hard one to put down.
Zia it is really good. So much I didnt know….
I couldn’t put Columbine down either, and it’s not a short book! But I was so enthralled with the details and wanted to know everything that happened…RIGHT THEN. You would think that people wouldn’t still be interested in Columbine after all these years, but they (we) are. The author wrote to me and thanked me for my review. I thought that was so cool 🙂
Enjoy, Sheila. I think I read that book in like two days, I loved it so much.
Lynne, my husband I were talking about it tonight over a game of cribbage. While he dealt cards, I read out loud. The details behind what happened are so raw to me still. I have already cried twice –
Once when the principal gets up in front of everyone after it happened,
and secondly when I read about Erik and Dylan’s funerals.
I cant wait to review it!
I really enjoyed The Kite Runner. I hope you do too!
I think I will Candace 🙂
House Rules was fabulous. I’m thinking Columbine is going on my list.
Have a great week!
Laurel as soon as I stared listening to it I was engrossed. I know it wont take me long to get through it.
Wow, you are juggling a lot of books this week! I am interested in hearing your thoughts on Columbine. I’ve read some good reviews of it. I’ve read House Rules and I also want to know what you think about how it ends.
I will have to give Fablehaven another try sometime. I started reading it but I didn’t finish it because I had other books I wanted to read more and I ran out of renewals.
I loved The Kite Runner. I found it to be very moving. It is the first book I’ve read that made me cry. (Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows is the second)
I hope you have a great week!
HI Christina, I am liking Fablehaven but admit I did put it down to read Columbine. I had just read a fantasy read and needed something else…. Columbine is doing the trick.
I’ve had Columbine on my list, too. Maybe I’ll bump it up …
Heather – bump it. It is good. Real good.
I adored The Kite Runner and read Love In Mid Air. I have been wanting to read House Rules I need to just order the book. Happy reading this week.
Jennifer I am really enjoying House Rules. Enjoy your week as well. 🙂
I’m so glad to see that you are reading Columbine. I really couldn’t put the book down either. The details given are so shocking at times, and I’ve asked ‘Why’ so many times through the book. Reading it made me wish we could go back in time and correct the mistakes. Like it happened in The 13th Hour. So many clues … so many things ignored.
Can’t wait to read your review!! Have a good week!
Thats what is happening to me too Aths…. some of the details are so shocking I am reading them out loud to my husband. It is just so sad!
You have a lot going on, as usual. I hope you enjoy The Kite Runner, I loved it, though it must be quite a different experience on audio. I’ve missed posting but I always read your Monday posts-and all your tweets- so packed with information. I’ve posted and linked for this week. I read some really great books recently. Am off to read your Titanic review and check out choose your next book. And congratulations Dollycas.
Sandra, On audio it is read by the author so that is kind of cool. Jury is still out if I like it on audio. It is still warming on me. 🙂
Thanks Sandra! 🙂
Im with everyone. Columbine sounds great. I have never entered the prize giveaway before but I think I will this week. I have visited just over 20.
Thanks Becky,
I just love the networking part of this meme and hope that you and everyone visits other blogs and maybe find one or two you really enjoy as well as great reads! 😀
Did you enjoy Caught? I have it on audio and wonder whether I should push it up the list? Will try to remember to pop back for your review 🙂
I really liked House Rules but it wasn’t my all time favourite Jodi Picoult.
You’ve got a great line-up of books Sheila, have a wonderful reading week!!
I liked the story line Teddyree, but struggled with the reader. I would love to read your review with the audio as well….
You have a great week too!
I hope you enjoy Kite Runner – it’s very good but hard to read at times (it reads like a true story).
I finished The Threadbare Heart today, enjoyed it very much.
Havea great week!
HI Mari,
I am excited to get to Threadbare Heart – I have heard good things about it.
just an idea for the mr linky… it would be great to add genre to blog name. Just helps with the click through. This is done for the hop and I love this add!
ie: Bookworm with a View (literary fiction, YA, Sci-Fi, etc)…
Mari – I hadnt thought of that…. what about blogs like mine? I read many genres.
Just finished reading Warriors, which is a collection of short stories and novellas that came out recently, edited by George RR Martin. Some good stuff!
Not sure what I’ll be reading next. Probably The Folding Knife, by KJ Parker.
Thanks for dropping by my blog and leaving a comment! I’ll definitely bookmark ya and pop in regularly to see whats up…
Dave
Sounds like some interesting reads Dave, I will have to pop in and see what they are like.
Have a great week 🙂
Columbine has been on my to read list since it came out. I haven’t actually gotten round to reading it because it’s so different to my normal reads and looks like it’ll be a heavy one. I’m really looking forward to your thoughts on it.
Manda,
It is reading fast and I know it isn’t light, but some of the chapters are filled with police reports, family info… background life…. I think this helps it from being overly heavy.
i loved Kite Runner!! have an awesome [reading] week sheila 😀
Thanks Chelleyreads! 🙂
The Kite Runner is a great read but sad and I will be interested in how you like House Rules. I have seen both good and not so great reviews on this one.
So far I am really enjoying it Jan!
http://readbookswritepoetry.blogspot.com/2010/05/musingsits-monday-what-are-you-reading.html
I won’t be participating this week as I’m still reading the latest Dresden Files book “Changes” by Jim Butcher. As I tend to read when I go to bed it can take me a bit to get through a book, even though this is one I don’t want to put down 🙂
I will have to get into these Nikki-ann, I have heard some good things – enjoy 🙂
I have now finished and reviewed Human Traces by Sebastian Faulks.
A completely different change of pace this week with ‘how to Talk to A Widower’ by Jonathan Tropper.
Lindyloumac, these sound interesting! I hope to read more on them when I stop by your blog 🙂
It sounds like you had a great week!
I did Ladytink, I finished up a few reads 🙂
Glad you liked Worst Case, it is on my stack. I’ve got to get Caught placed on hold!
Nise I am enjoying the reads that have Mike Bennett as the detective. I hope you enjoy Caught!
Looks like another great week in front of you this week.
Thanks Kristen – I hope so 🙂
I’m not sure I could read Columbine, intrigued that you can’t put it down though! You’ve got a great week ahead, love the audio picks!
Mel, it is just such an amazing horrifying part of our history…. to read this about how it all went down…. I am just in awe, what was missed…. what was done wrong…. what could not have been prevented…
Hi, I am new to this book meme, but i am a avid reader. I am looking forward to your review on the kite runner. I have had several people read it and i have not decided yet if it is something i want to pick up.
Welcome Rebecca – I hope you have fun 😀
Ever the multi tasker aren’t you…alot of books this week…should make for amazing reviews. I think the Kite Runner is fab!
I’ve ben eeing up Titanic 2012 but am a bit unsure…your review ma say me…can’t for it 😀
I am reading several really good ones right now Sa Toya which is a lot of fun!
Titanic 2012 is good!
I am reading IMPATIENT WITH DESIRE by Gabrielle Burton. It is about a woman who was part of the Donner Party. It wasn’t a good week for reading. I got so much more read when I was working.
Pat I have yet to check this one out. You have been reading it for awhile, is it good?
I had to shift gears when I started it. It is written as a journal with flashbacks. Once I got into the rhythm of the book, it read better. It is a good view of the events from the viewpoint of an intelligent woman. The story touches on the planning for the trip, her youth, and the day to day existence on the trail. Most importantly, this is all taking place after they have become snowed in and are struggling to survive. It is a well done look at a woman’s attempt to keep her family’s spirits up and to keep them alive. I’ve not gotten to the point of the infamous cannibalism but things are desperate. Oddly, they had a pet dog and were taking care of it. Sorry, but I would not have take food from my children to feed a pet. He would have mysteriously vanished and ended up in the stew pot as a rabbit. I’ve eaten dog. It is quite tasty.
It is a short book. I read half of it while waiting to have my car’s oil changed. I just have not had a chance to do much reading.
I still think I am interested in this book. I cant remember if you said is this non fiction?
It is fiction. She was known to keep a journal which was never found. This is based on the facts of her life and the Donner Party’s experience. It appears to be an attempt to represent events in as accurate a way as possible. It really is a good book. I just need a block of time to read this type book. I don’t like to just grab it and read a few pages when I have a free minute like I do with a romance or a suspense. It deserves a different type of attention than that.
Interesting…. I think I would like to read this too.
I’ve had The Kite Runner on my TBR pile for awhile, but I keep putting it off because I know it’s going to be hard for me to get through. I like the idea of listening to it instead, maybe I’ll do that! Hope you like it.
Have a great week 🙂
Crystal, I think that is what took me so long too so when I seen it at the library on audio I thought I would give it a try. 🙂
I LOVED House Rules so much. Definately one of her better novels.
I have a copy of the Kite Runner, but I haven’t had the chance to read it. I’ll have to read it for school junior year, though, so I think I’ll just wait til’ then.
Robby I am really enjoying House Rules!
Wow, I don’t know how you can have so many books going at once! I usually manage just one to read and one to listen to. Sounds like you have a great reading week ahead – I can’t wait to read the new Jodi Picoult – it sounds great.
Sue
Sue, I usually have a lighter and a deeper read going – then one (or the other) will win out and that is the one I finish first 🙂
Here’s my list!
http://superlibrarian-super.blogspot.com/2010/05/contest-over-at-forever-young-its.html
Thanks Super! 😀
Seems you enjoy your read and hope this week too =)
Thanks darlyn – to you too 🙂
I hosted a House Rules Book Club Party last Saturday! I haven’t read the book yet and I’m looking forward to your review.
Lori I would love to hear more about that. Once it hits paperback I want to recommend it for my book club! 😀
I’m a big fan of Columbine. Such an incredible book.
I visited 50 blogs and left comments today! So many good books out there.
Lydia, I was talking about it with a friend of mine this morning and I started crying while I told her about it and made her cry too!
Woo hoo on the blog visits! You Rock!!!
I read Kite Runner last year and thought it was fantastic. I need to try another Jodi Piccoult. I read Change of Heart and didn’t think it was that great.
Now, I need to look up Columbine. Sounds like an interesting read.
I havent read Change of Heart Page but have read a few of hers, I am really liking this one so far!
I am wanting Worst Case by Patterson and have print book Deadly Deals by Fern Michaels in my TBR..
nice to see so many books on so many blogs though that have not read and read the reviews to help me sort out what is good to try…
jackie
Jackie I really really liked Worst Case – I hope you do too!
The Kite Runner is a heartbreaking story. I read it a couple of years ago and loved it. A Thousand Splendid Suns was also good, but I didn’t enjoy the story as much.
Sharazad, I have heard amazing things about the book – purchased it right away and there it sits. I am hoping to correct that this week 🙂
Columbine and The Kite Runner both I have heard are good reads…I hope you enjoy them! Have a great week!
Thanks Heidi V – enjoy your week as well 🙂
The Kite Runner was very good. Intense story. I would love to read Columbine next. Thanks for the great list! I just finished a new one by author, Mike Hogan, called, “The Ovary Wars.” If you enjoy medical thrillers this book will get your attention for sure. It was so realistic and thought provoking I couldn’t put it down. I’m looking forward to more of his books in the future.
Audrey – well, the title cracked me up a bit 🙂 I will have to check out your review.
The title did catch my eye at first. It’s a great read, though. It’s not too often I find a good thriller that’s so well thought out.
OMG! I won, WOW. I love your blog and this meme, I have found such wonderful blogs because of it and made new friends. I’ll check out your prize box and then get visiting, got a late start today, lol
Thanks!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Dollycas I did a little happy dance for you this morning in celebration 😀
Congratulations. I have books I need to add to the prize box so if you do not see anything hold out a day or two…. I need to fill the box!
I bow to you Shiela:) I wish I could keep up with your schedule. You always read such wonderful books. I know I drink as much coffee as you so that cannot be your secret;) Wanna let me in how you do it? haha! Stop by and visit me soon my friend.
Bobbie – you are sweet…. I will be popping in today as soon as I get some time. I am hoping to complete some office work and if the weather holds go biking or blading for a little bit this afternoon.
No secrets really… if anything the coffee hinders me because I have to go to the bathroom so much 😀
lol, me to. I drink decaf before bed and then wonder why I am up and down all night. But I can’t help it, I just love coffee. Have fun with whatever activity you do this afternoon:) It is supposed to rain and storm here so I am sitting in front of the computer.
Bobbie I just came home and did nothing. Looked like the sun was coming out but that was apparently not true. 🙂 I worked out this morning at the gym so that will have to be good for today.
Mondays I would rather just read blogs anyway 😀
I visited 11, but life keeps getting in the way today, don’t people realize I have blog work today, between the phone and people at the door you would think I was a lady of leisure, lol, will try to visit more but grandson will be home soon and unless I let him type, computer day is over. What a day!!
Doh! Life! Happened to me today too Dollycas. I didnt get to start blog hopping until late afetrnoon 🙂
The Girl She Used to be is unputdownable too. I’ve avoided Columbine because I was afraid it would be too disturbing.
Kathy thanks for the heads up on The Girl She Used To Be! I cant wait!
I have yet to read Kite Runner. I’m so far behind!
Me too Amy, some of the great ones just slip through the cracks…. I a still trying to get to them 🙂
I would love to read Fablehaven; I am glad you are enjoying it so much.
Have a great reading week!
Thanks Stephanie 🙂
I always enjoy seeing what your Monday bring for reading. I really enjoyed The Kite Runner and A Thousand Splendid Suns. They make you think.
I’m currently reading an interesting fiction medical thriller called “The Ovary Wars” by Mike Hogan. The government is trying to find out what is destroying women’s ovaries; it is biological, terrorism or something else… I like a mix of genre.
Thats so crazy Betty – it you read the comments above Audrey is also reading that book! This is the first time I have heard of it.
I like a mix in genres too 🙂
I’m doing terrible with commenting recently! I’m so so sorry!
Glad to see you are loving Fablehaven! I’m really interested to see what you think of House Rules…I reviewed it over at ChickLitReviews.com a few weeks ago, but I won’t ruin the ending for you!
Have a fabulous reading week!
Oh, I got to about 10 sites during the day, but I’m planning on more tonight!
I am so enjoying the audio of House Rules FirstDaughter. I have laughed out loud a few times at what Jake says.
I was thinking of ordering Fable haven for the library – (k-8th)
I’ll be interested to find out what you think of it when you’re done reading it. though “wow” kind of gives me a clue. 🙂
Mardel – I love a good fantasy read and so far this one is delivering. 🙂
I actually participated this week! And I visited 10 other blogs! Ambitious, huh?! LOL!
I so want that Read, Remember, Recommend book…it’s at the top of my wishlist. 🙂
You sure do read a lot! Are you a speed reader? I wish I could read like that!
That was just a lucky week Michelle! Two of the reads were audios – Worst Case has been playing in my car for over a couple weeks, and the Fern Michaels was short. Sometimes I get lucky and several partial books I am into get finished 🙂 Theres always a few of those going on.
Sweet about joining in this week! 😀
They all sound so good! I’m dying to read Jodi Picoults book. Hope your enjoying them and have a great week!
Natalie :0)
I am listening to House Rules right now and am loving it. SO GOOD Natalie – I would highly recommend this one.
Thanks for all the people expressing interest in my book, Columbine. There’s a lot more info about it at the link that might help you decide. Your best bet is probably the 3-minute book trailer, that will give you a good idea whether or not you’ll like it.
I’d love to hear from you if you do. I’m also doing call-ins to book clubs, and we now have Instructor Guides for teachers and profs.
d
Hi Dave, thank you for stopping by. I am still reading Columbine and I am totally engrossed in it. What a sad account – I have cried several times already and thank you Dave for putting together such a book.
Thanks, Dave, for posting your trailer link. I just watched it and am looking forward to reading your book and learning more about this tragedy.
HI Audrey, I was just wishing I had time just to sit down and finish it! Life has been busy and I am hoping after this weekends bike ride I will have time on Sunday to do that! 🙂
A bike ride sounds wonderful. I know what you mean :}.
Can’t wait to hear what you think of House Rules by Jodi Picoult. I’m coming back later to try and pick your next book. That’s a cute idea.
Oh phooey, Mr. Linky is closed. I can’t add my link. That’s alright, I’ll just look at the other links. Here is my link.
http://readwithtea.blogspot.com/2010/05/what-are-you-reading-mondays.html
Tea the linky only stays open for 7 days – you can link to the new one that went up today 🙂
