I love being a part of this and I hope you do too!  As part of this weekly meme I love to encourage you all to go and visit the others participating in this meme.  I offer a weekly contest for those who visit 10 or more of the Monday Meme participants and leave a comment.  You receive one entry for every 10 comments, just come back here and tell me how many in the comment area.

This week went by so fast!  On the bright side I did finish up a few reads I had going and have a couple more on the brink of being finished too!

My week might seem lofty but I don’t think so.  I am loving the Jodi Piccoult audio and suspect I will have that done in the next couple of days.  I have a bike ride this Saturday which will put me on another road trip tot he cities and that should help me listen to most of Kite Runner.

  1. I’ve been wanting to read the Columbine one for awhile now. Sounds like it would be a hard one to put down.

  2. I couldn’t put Columbine down either, and it’s not a short book! But I was so enthralled with the details and wanted to know everything that happened…RIGHT THEN. You would think that people wouldn’t still be interested in Columbine after all these years, but they (we) are. The author wrote to me and thanked me for my review. I thought that was so cool 🙂

    1. Lynne, my husband I were talking about it tonight over a game of cribbage. While he dealt cards, I read out loud. The details behind what happened are so raw to me still. I have already cried twice –

      Once when the principal gets up in front of everyone after it happened,
      and secondly when I read about Erik and Dylan’s funerals.

      I cant wait to review it!

  5. Wow, you are juggling a lot of books this week! I am interested in hearing your thoughts on Columbine. I’ve read some good reviews of it. I’ve read House Rules and I also want to know what you think about how it ends.

    I will have to give Fablehaven another try sometime. I started reading it but I didn’t finish it because I had other books I wanted to read more and I ran out of renewals.

    I loved The Kite Runner. I found it to be very moving. It is the first book I’ve read that made me cry. (Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows is the second)

    1. HI Christina, I am liking Fablehaven but admit I did put it down to read Columbine. I had just read a fantasy read and needed something else…. Columbine is doing the trick.

  8. I’m so glad to see that you are reading Columbine. I really couldn’t put the book down either. The details given are so shocking at times, and I’ve asked ‘Why’ so many times through the book. Reading it made me wish we could go back in time and correct the mistakes. Like it happened in The 13th Hour. So many clues … so many things ignored.

I’ve missed posting but I always read your Monday posts-and all your tweets- so packed with information. I’ve posted and linked for this week. I read some really great books recently.     1. Sandra, On audio it is read by the author so that is kind of cool. Jury is still out if I like it on audio. It is still warming on me. 🙂

    I really liked House Rules but it wasn’t my all time favourite Jodi Picoult.

      1. just an idea for the mr linky… it would be great to add genre to blog name. Just helps with the click through. This is done for the hop and I love this add!

        ie: Bookworm with a View (literary fiction, YA, Sci-Fi, etc)…

  13. Just finished reading Warriors, which is a collection of short stories and novellas that came out recently, edited by George RR Martin. Some good stuff!

    Not sure what I’ll be reading next. Probably The Folding Knife, by KJ Parker.

  14. Columbine has been on my to read list since it came out. I haven’t actually gotten round to reading it because it’s so different to my normal reads and looks like it’ll be a heavy one. I’m really looking forward to your thoughts on it.

      It is reading fast and I know it isn’t light, but some of the chapters are filled with police reports, family info… background life…. I think this helps it from being overly heavy.

  18. I won’t be participating this week as I’m still reading the latest Dresden Files book “Changes” by Jim Butcher. As I tend to read when I go to bed it can take me a bit to get through a book, even though this is one I don’t want to put down 🙂

    A completely different change of pace this week with ‘how to Talk to A Widower’ by Jonathan Tropper.

  26. I am reading IMPATIENT WITH DESIRE by Gabrielle Burton. It is about a woman who was part of the Donner Party. It wasn’t a good week for reading. I got so much more read when I was working.

      1. I had to shift gears when I started it. It is written as a journal with flashbacks. Once I got into the rhythm of the book, it read better. It is a good view of the events from the viewpoint of an intelligent woman. The story touches on the planning for the trip, her youth, and the day to day existence on the trail. Most importantly, this is all taking place after they have become snowed in and are struggling to survive. It is a well done look at a woman’s attempt to keep her family’s spirits up and to keep them alive. I’ve not gotten to the point of the infamous cannibalism but things are desperate. Oddly, they had a pet dog and were taking care of it. Sorry, but I would not have take food from my children to feed a pet. He would have mysteriously vanished and ended up in the stew pot as a rabbit. I’ve eaten dog. It is quite tasty.

        It is a short book. I read half of it while waiting to have my car’s oil changed. I just have not had a chance to do much reading.

      1. It is fiction. She was known to keep a journal which was never found. This is based on the facts of her life and the Donner Party’s experience. It appears to be an attempt to represent events in as accurate a way as possible. It really is a good book. I just need a block of time to read this type book. I don’t like to just grab it and read a few pages when I have a free minute like I do with a romance or a suspense. It deserves a different type of attention than that.

  27. I’ve had The Kite Runner on my TBR pile for awhile, but I keep putting it off because I know it’s going to be hard for me to get through. I like the idea of listening to it instead, maybe I’ll do that! Hope you like it.

  28. I LOVED House Rules so much. Definately one of her better novels.
    I have a copy of the Kite Runner, but I haven’t had the chance to read it. I’ll have to read it for school junior year, though, so I think I’ll just wait til’ then.

  34. I read Kite Runner last year and thought it was fantastic. I need to try another Jodi Piccoult. I read Change of Heart and didn’t think it was that great.
    Now, I need to look up Columbine. Sounds like an interesting read.

  36. The Kite Runner is a heartbreaking story. I read it a couple of years ago and loved it. A Thousand Splendid Suns was also good, but I didn’t enjoy the story as much.

  38. The Kite Runner was very good. Intense story. I would love to read Columbine next. Thanks for the great list! I just finished a new one by author, Mike Hogan, called, “The Ovary Wars.” If you enjoy medical thrillers this book will get your attention for sure. It was so realistic and thought provoking I couldn’t put it down. I’m looking forward to more of his books in the future.

  45. I always enjoy seeing what your Monday bring for reading. I really enjoyed The Kite Runner and A Thousand Splendid Suns. They make you think.
    I’m currently reading an interesting fiction medical thriller called “The Ovary Wars” by Mike Hogan. The government is trying to find out what is destroying women’s ovaries; it is biological, terrorism or something else… I like a mix of genre.

    1. That was just a lucky week Michelle! Two of the reads were audios – Worst Case has been playing in my car for over a couple weeks, and the Fern Michaels was short. Sometimes I get lucky and several partial books I am into get finished 🙂 Theres always a few of those going on.
