Morning Meanderings…

I am having an affair.

Have you heard of Books A Million?  I have only found these stores in Florida….. I have only been in them twice….

but I am in love.

Is it wrong to love a book store?  To enjoy browsing through their large counters of clearance books?  To find books that you seen the day before for $18+ at a B & N, and at Books A Million find that same book for $3.99?

We went in the Books A  Million looking for a Honda Magazine for Navy son, Brad.  B & N did not have it.  B.A.M. (yes, that’s right – I have given it a pet name!) did.

It’s where I bought the book Hold Still that I will be reviewing later this week.  AND – I bought something else really cool….. but that will have to wait for another meandering… another day.

Today I am back home in Minnesota.  Touched ground about 3:30 pm yesterday afternoon.  I have not made it around to everyone who participated in yesterdays What Are You Reading Meme – but I will!  Also – if you have not read the delightful author chat I had with Kay Cassidy, please do.  Her first book is on the shelves and she is witty and funny – and a tea drinker but I can forgive her that… because she is witty and funny.  😀

I have a review up yet today be sure to stop back in…  and I also have giveaways that need to be announced.  With a little luck – I just may start catching up!

Brad (Navy) and Justin (College) - sons I just hung out with in Florida

Whats on your agenda this week for fun?

  1. So glad you had fun with the boys in Florida! This week I’m starting to gear up for our poetry slam, which begins next Monday. Should be fun!

  2. That is one love affair that has my approval! Whenever I need to escape, I love going into a book store and perusing the bookshelves. It must have been great to be with your sons. Welcome back.

  3. Aren’t you glad you weren’t in Europe??? No ash. That sand is so white. It has to be Pensacola. Missed you. Glad you’re back. I love Books A Million.

  4. I love Books A Million as well. 🙂 Their website (booksamillion.com) has a listing of store locations and you can also order online.

Glad you had a great time in Florida!

  5. Duuuuh, Pensacola Beach is written on the photo. Maybe it’s not a day to read blue. The photo is gorgeous. Am I repeating myself???

  6. LOL, have you told your husband about your affair? I love that you have given the shop a pet name too. I love stores like that, unfortunately so many of our book stores have closed down in recent months due to the recession. I love that you can fly at the moment, England seems weird without aeroplanes flying over us.

    1. I haven’t told him Vivienne…. I suppose I should come clean. 🙂

I bet that does seem weird without planes Vivienne. I remember after 911 how quiet it all seemed….

  7. Fantastic photo…

I am going to have to check out B.A.M. online…there isn’t one around here where I live.

Glad you had such a great time with your boys!!!

  8. It is completely ok to love a book store! I used to love the Borders chain when it was here in UK, the amount of books the bigger shops sold and their prices (I got a £16 book at £3!) was fantastic. Good to hear you had a great holiday!

  9. I am also having an affair-the problem is I am always cheating on my affair-I have so many books I want to read and then go find more without finishing off what I have.

  10. I love B.A.M.! They do have a much better fiction clearance section that B&N and much more current titles. Sounds like you had fun with your “boys.” Isn’t it funny to find that your “boys” have become grown men?

  11. Wish there was a store near me, but there’s nothing in Idaho or Wasington! Boooo
Lollipop lollipop oh lolli lollipop, lollipop.. I have this song in my head, replaying over and over!! I know, I think i’m nuts!
    Hope your day goes well!!

  12. I have never been to a Books a Million store but I used to buy books at their website all the time. They used to beat Amazon’s prices routinely. I did switch to Amazon a while ago for reasons I don’t remember and haven’t checked back lately. I don’t know if you can get the same great deals as the store but you should check it out.

    1. I see they are on line Kathy and I am kind of afraid to look – the prices were shockingly lower than what I have seen elsewhere, not on everything – but in some cases.

  13. I love BAM too! They have some amazing deals! The nearest on is about 45 min. from here, but most stores are…the nearest Wal-Mart Super Center is a 30 min. drive.

Glad you enjoyed your time with your boys. Love the pic.

  14. Glad you had a good trip to Florida.

We have a Books-A-Million store in Johnson City, TN. I don’t go very often, but when I do, I always come out with a bunch of books (hence the reason I don’t go very often : )). I is big and bright and open. I’ve seen them around, but I heard somewhere they were having financial problem and may be closing stores.. I certainly hope not. I have spent more time in Barnes and Noble, but that is because that is where our library account was.

  15. Look, he has a book in his hand! 😀

Wow, you really are addicted to that book site. Really must have loads of great deals.

Plans for the week… Well, everyone has birthdays this week; my mom tonight, my son is on Monday but we are celebrating with 2 different parties since our house is small. And so he can make a few bucks we are going to pick up sticks at a friends, he has in mind what he wants to buy and it’s expensive so he needs to earn money for it. 🙂 Doesn’t sound like much time for reading after saying all that. 😦 I’ll have to keep trying to find the time.

    Have a great week!

    1. Hi Melissa – yes he does! 🙂 (I had to look). he was reading Nineteen Minutes by Jodi Piccoult.

You do have a busy week – I would suggest audio while picking up sticks…. but kid time trumps reading time – so just enjoy the moment and have an awesome week!
