Morning Meanderings…

There really is  something to be  said about sleeping in your own bed.  Everywhere we have stayed the past 12 days have been wonderful, but curling up last night with my pillow and blankets was heaven!

This morning I am sitting here briefly with Coffee Cup and I am thrilled to be drinking out of my cup too!   Last nights book club was so wonderful – a great review of The Hotel On Bitter And Sweet.  Have I mentioned lately how much I love my book club?  We have a great read lined up for March too but I will show that in the next few days.  The review will probably have to go up tomorrow as today is going to be super busy.

Whats on my plate platter?  Well, tomorrow morning at this time we are off for Illinois for our oldest sons Navy Graduation.  Yes, I am home for just a little over a day.  I have laundry going, have a full day in the office, packing again, contacting dog/house sitter for the weekend, books and packages to mail, grabbing some food for our house as I cleaned it out pretty good before we left for Florida – and – at the end of the day my treat is to go through my mailbox books from the last 12 days.

Want to know what 12 days of books can look like?  I am so glad you asked!

Yup.  I asked the house sitter just to put any books that came in the mail in my reading Room.  Well – here they are.  That’s my tonight project with a cup of tea or maybe two.

And finally my birthday yesterday was nice, too busy, but I love friends.  I came home to a package that had been dropped off by a good friend of mine Amy who is also in my book club.  It was a super cute sweater hoodie that has fur in the hood.  She said she seen it and it just screamed “Sheila”.  LOL  She’s right… I love it and I am wearing it today.

I also had a card in the mail and this one made me smile:

Now – that is a good friend!  Have a great day everyone!  I have to hit the ground running with a tight grip on Coffee Cup today.  I have a review coming up in a little bit here today so stop on back – coffee is on and the virtual cinnamon rolls are always hot and fresh out of the oven.

  1. That stack of books is unbelievable!! Part of me would love to be in your shoes, but I don’t know where I’d put all of that if it came in like that every month. Wow.

My husband was in the Navy and had his graduation in Illinois back in 1991. Have fun on your trip. I’m impressed you’re not exhausted from all the travel!

  2. Your whole post is too wonderful. Love the babies with fat buts. A son graduating from the Navy??? Congratulations! Enjoy!

Oh, may I protect the twelve days of books while your gone? I won’t open the packages. I promise, I pro…. Well, forget about it. Where books are concerned I loose the good fairy side of myself. Have a great day!

  3. Enjoy all of your books. I would not be able to wait to open up all of the packages! That is quite a stack of books! Congrats to your son on his graduation!

  4. I am salivating over that stack of unopened books!

Congrats on son’s graduation – you will be in my neck of the woods as we are within a hop skip and jump from Great Lakes NTC/RTC. (My daughter is currently dating a sailor stationed there. . .)

  5. Good luck with going through them-there is something fun about opening packages-given my work situation I intentionally have not signed up for more than three reviews since January or accepted anything else to review. I would be buried.

  6. Oh my goodness–that book pile looks like Christmas! I don’t know how you let it sit long enough to do laundry; I sometimes don’t get my coat off when I get home before I have to open what ever came in the mail.

  7. I totally agree about sleeping in your own bed. Even when I am out late, I would rather take the time to go home and wake up in my bed than crash at a friend’s house.

  8. I would be overwhelmed with that many books, even though I agree with the others….I love opening packages. How in the world do you find time to read and blog?

    You’re my inspiration 🙂

  9. Happy Belated Birthday! What nice surprises to come home to! I worked on the Navy base in Illinois when we were first married. My husband was in the Navy. Congratulations on your son’s graduation!

  10. Welcome home! There is nothing like the feeling of being in your own bed again after a trip.

Hope this next trip goes well, too – Happy Birthday!

  11. I had a mini version of that experience when I went to the mailbox today, 4 packages with 8 books inside. I was really excited until I realized that 2 of the books were ones that I KNOW that I passed on when asked about them by the marketing person. Man, life is too short to read books that I don’t want to read.

I covet your furry birthday hoodie. I do hope that you had a wonderful day and welcome home!

    1. Thanks murphygracehome. 🙂 I had one mystery book today… didnt recognize the publisher or the book title and no papers with it. That bugs me because I have no idea why I received it.

  12. Welcome back home, if only for a day! You’re right, that one night in your bed will really rejuvenate you, just wait!
Can’t wait for your mailbox meme from all those!
Congrats to your son, that’s a great accomplishment.

  13. Last night was my first night home, it felt so good to sleep in my bed and yes I happen to be drinking a cup of ‘coffee-milk’ right now out of one of my favorite cups. Funny how it’s always the small things that bring us comfort.

Good luck traveling and congratulations on your son’s graduation! Funny to learn how similar our life’s are (I’m also 42 and have a 22 year old graduating this spring).

Are your new ‘around the room’ shelves full?!! 🙂

    Have a wonderful day!

  14. Holy cow! That’s alot of books!! And, Congratulations on your son’s graduation too–you must be so proud of him 🙂 You can catch up with yourself later-ha ha!

  15. You don’t realize how much you miss your own bed till you get it back, at times. I hope you have a wonderful time at your sons graduation.

You really do have quite a stash of books there! My, my.

    Happy reading!

I am still working on trying to get through all the posts. I just feel bad that I haven’t been able to comment on them all as usual, but trying to read as many as I can.

  16. I should show the picture of the books to my husband. He won’t complain about the 2 or 3 I get in a week.
    A belated Happy Birthday.
