Morning Meanderings…

Happy New Year!

This morning I am enjoying a cup of Raspberry Creme Coffee (Cameron’s).  It really is good and a perfect way to start this day!  But actually – this is not the start of my day.  My day started about an hour ago when I stayed a little longer in bed this morning and finished the book that I wanted to be the first read of 2010…. really, time with an old friend… (more on that in the next post)

I am excited as this will be my first year of full blogging!  I have plans yet today to do some minor changes to my layout here… oh and please bear with me – in the excitement I will have two if not three book reviews posted today.  I also have the December comment winners to post as well as Blog Awards that I hope to also give out yet today.  I had several books I have been finishing up on and  today is mostly going to be dedicated to doing just that.  It is currently -7 below zero here in central Minnesota and while I need to make one run in little while here to Wal-Mart…. that will be it for my outdoor adventures today.

So share with me… whats your plans on this first day of the new year?  Are you seeing a movie?  Reading a book?  Doing something fun?

  1. Good morning Sheila-I am plannng on some reading and hopefully dragging my husband to some stores to look at new cabinets. Do not laugh at me-I can never get enough turkey-I bought one yesterday-so I will cook turkey either today or tomorrow-given I went home I never had leftovers-maybe it is the leftovers I really like.

I am going to start planning the meal.

  2. Sounds like a good plan Esme! I love turkey and chicken and could eat it for every meal so you will get no laughter from me. 🙂

I think we are going to do turkey later today as well… I have leftovers so I am thinking between a soup and a hotdish…. leaning toward the hotdish. 🙂

  3. Happy New Year! Your coffee sounds delicious. I’m probably going to see a movie later, after my grandson Noah goes home. He was here for a sleepover (if you can call it that!), and he was still awake after the ball dropped!

I’ve posted two new ones over at http://rainysnowyobsessions.blogspot.com

I’ll eagerly be watching for your new changes. You know I love reinventing the look of a blog! LOL

  4. Happy first day of 2010! While my family is still sleeping, I’ve had my first cup of coffee, checked a few blogs, and curled up with my first book of the new year for the Bronte challenge. (Jane Eyre’s Daughter by Elizabeth Newark.)

We’ll spend a quiet day at home watching football and relaxing, with birthday cake and family tonight for my mom’s 87th birthday.

Stay warm! Can’t imagine that much cold! Brrrr! It’s very, very cold here this morning, too — 46 degrees! 🙂

    1. 46 degrees? Oh wow! I miss 46 degrees! The Bronte Challenge huh? I will have to think about that one. 🙂

Happy Birthday toy our mom – sounds like you have a great day planned!

  5. Today, my sister is coming by. I only see her a few times each year. Then we may exchange my daughter’s winter boots for a size that fits.

  6. Happy New Year! Sounds like you’re starting the new year off on a cold note.

We’re watching the Buffy the Vampire Slayer marathon today, and I’m finishing up a book during the commercials. Love Buffy! Taking it easy today.

Wishing you a great new year, and looking forward to seeing what 2010 brings!

    1. Thanks Alexia561! Enjoy your day of slayer moments! 🙂 I am hoping to finish hush hush today but was just informed a movie is on the radar for later so that may not get done until tomorrow…

  7. I have just spent New Years Day, having my second Christmas dinner and it was lush. After spending a whole week having buffet style dinners, it was fabulous to sit down and eat a proper meal. Hope to spend this evening reading, something I haven’t been able to do all week. Bliss. Have a fab New Year.

    1. HI Vivienne – sounds like a good plan today! I was able to do some reading yesterday and then this morning too and loved it. Hopefully I will get some more time tonight. 🙂

Have a great New Year as well!

  8. I feel like I am also doing clean up and getting posts ready as I read books for the 2010 challenges that I signed up for. I also want to tweak my layout, but am just not good at it!

    1. Hi Helen….. 🙂 WordPress makes some things easy to change – others not so much. My overall layout will stay the same but sometimes if I move the sidebar stuff around it gives it a different look. Kind of like moving a picture to a different wall. LOL

  9. Happy New Year Sheila!!

-7 below huh? Brrrr. But I do miss the cold and snow.

I plan on reading a book I’ve been putting off for way to long and posting a review BEFORE I start another one!

I also want to watch a four hour movie I have on my DVR.

Maybe later play Skip-Bo or Uno.
I love me some card games.

Hope you, Al and the boys have a Blessed New Year!

    1. A 4 hour movie? Wow – what one is that? I dont think Titanic was that long…LOL!

Sounds like the perfect day – enjoy and you have a wonderful New Year as well!

  10. New Year’s day is one of my favorite days of the year because I can be as lazy as I want to be. So far I slept in until 10am, read a book, ate a hearty breakfast made by my husband and wasted a few hours on the internet. Maybe later I will play on the Wii. At some point I may shower but that’s not a necesity on New Year’s day. 🙂

  11. I am trying to catch up on all my unopened emails and finish my end of the year summary so I can hand over the books of a club I belong to (yeah, to be done!).
I started another story in a Christmas anthology this morning and hope to read a lot of books this year.

Hope everyone has a Wonderful 2010!!!!!

    1. HI Patricia – I have end of year recap to do yet for my bookclub too…. havent been in the mood to tally up their thoughts yet… but soon! I wonder what our book of the year will be?

  12. I feel cold just thinking about your weather!

Didn’t even think of what my “first book” should be, maybe next year.

I have two books planned for this weekend. Plus laundry, dishes and watching the Rose Parade. My chiropractor is in it!

    Happy New Year!

    1. Hi Gina – I didnt get anywhere near done what I had hoped to today…. actually took a nap then we seen Avatar (3 hour movie) and then out to dinner. Oh well.. there is always tomorrow 🙂

  13. I am heading down the highway for Tampa to visit with my youngest daughter and her family. Spent New Years Eve with my sister in Ocala, FL.
At the moment I am trying to read God’s Spy. Am about half way through.
    Happy New Year

    1. Hi Cindy – hopefully nor reading while driving – LOL! Thats what audios are for! 🙂 Enjoy Florida – that sounds nice about now… currently 14 below zero.

  14. Happy New Year Sheila!! I have done nothing really exciting today, except for read and catch some of the old Twilight Zones! I’m currently reading Green by Ted Dekker. This is my first read by him and I’m struggling to get into it. I’m wondering if I should have read The Books of History by him first. I do like how he intertwines so many of his books! Very unique for an author.

Here’s wishing you a prosperous and healthy New Year! Happy Reading! 🙂

    1. Thanks Julie – I tried Ted Deckers Green on audio and I was super confused so quit listening to it. I think I am going to read the books in order and read Green last. I have read other Decker that has been good.
