Morning Meanderings…

Good morning all!  Yesterday I signed up for The Gilmore Girls Reading Challenge.  Gilmore Girls is my favorite TV series of all time.  A few of you commented that you had never seen the show.  *Shudder*  LOL… SO I thought I would take a minute this morning to tell you what you are missing…

The Gilmore Girls is a show about a single mom and her daughter who live in a place called Stars Hollow.  I know my explanation will not do it justice but basically it is funny, quick whit, and the daughter – Rory is a book lover.  Here are a couple You Tube Clips to give you a sample:

Rory loves Books…

Funny Gilmore Girls Moments…

Unfortunately it went off the air a few years ago.  I now get my fix through my DVD’s.  So I highly recommend grabbing yourself Season One and sit back and enjoy some great moments.  Let me know if you do and what you think.  🙂

Oh and for those of you who have been following the whole ugly sweater party saga… as promised here is the picture!

Yeah… I look like an extra from Lion King…. 😉

That is not a scarf – that is an actual part of the sweater

    1. I hope you can see an episode or two Petty Witter. Start with season one – it gives the whole background story of what the show is about and you will come to love the characters… errrr… actors 😉

  1. This was a weekly ritual for me and my daughters. Sacred time (apologies to all other things held sacred). We also have them on dvd now. I miss it… and sent the book video to my daughters. Thanks for posting it : )

  2. Oh my goodness, I absolutely LOVE that sweater! *L* You outdid yourself this year! But Al’s sweater isn’t all that ugly. I know from old Cosby Show episodes that there are loads of ugly sweaters out there for men! Thanks for sharing your pix! 🙂

  3. Your post today convinced me!! I’m getting the first season from my library and during Christmas break that is when I will sit down and finally be initiated into the GG Club!! Loving the sweaters too!! 🙂

    1. HI J Kaye – I have the pic posted on Facebook and someone said they loved the scarf so I had to clarify…. nope – thats attached! 🙂

“Hakuna matata”! I do enjoy a good laugh 🙂

  4. After seeing these videos I want to get every season of this show. Hilarious!!!! With BOOKS!!!!

BTW: Al’s sweater is ugly, but yours is U.G.L.Y.!!!!!

    1. Oh good Vicki! There are a lot of book references _ A LOT. Rory always has a book with her…. and the show is just – fun! 🙂

About the sweater…. YUP. 🙂 LOL

  5. Yes, my first thought was “oh, what a furry scarf!” So I’m glad you cleared that up….LOL.

As for “The Gilmore Girls,” I never saw it in its “first run” on TV, but occasionally I see it now on Soap Net. Yeah, I know, soap operas!! I kind of love them for the way they allow me to completely detach from real life for awhile. But occasionally Soap Net has some good shows and movies.

  6. I had a sweater kind of like that (it was white) a few years ago but my husband accidentally washed it. I haven’t seen Gilmore Girls but I have watched several clips of it on and off over years. Good luck on the challenge!

  7. Hi, Sheila! I loved the Gilmore Girls! It’s one of those shows where the characters are intelligent and don’t make stupid decisions like in most TV shows that we have now. And I love the fact that Rory is a bookworm. I recall an episode one time where she was telling her mom that she must have a novel, a poetry collection, and a biographical book in her backpack at all times!

    1. You are right Peter – that is a good descriptive word for the show: intelligent. The episode you are describing is in the preview I posted…. she is explaining to her mom why she needs all the books. Its a great one!

  8. Gilmore Girls is one of my all-time favourite shows as well. My DVD’s are almost worn out! I’m definitely going to have to check out this challenge! Thanks for the heads up.

    Love the sweaters!

  9. I have loved The Gilmore Girls. I use to watch it every week. It was great for the adults and not that bad for the kids if they where around. I loved watching this family grow.

Oh, sorry about the sweater. It’s not ttthhhaat bad. 🙂

    1. Hi Melissa! Last night I was just laughing out loud watching season two. I tend to forget how incredibly smart and funny it is…. there are points where I have to rewind and watch parts again because they just crack me up!

  10. I love Gilmore Girls too! I was re-watching one of my favorite episodes and scenes during lunch today (the end of the episode where Lorelei is watching all of the versions of A Star is Born and Luke pounds on her door…). 🙂 Love that scene!

At first sight I thought “what a beautiful scarf!” Then after realizing it was part of the sweater I had to wonder what the designer was thinking. It’s pretty in a lionesque way. 🙂 A little too flamboyant for my tastes though, so perfect for the ugly sweater party!

The more I look at it the more I think “hairy caterpillar” or “sea anemone” or “alien with fronds.” It is quite mesmerizing. It’s a great picture of you though!

  11. I guess I’ll have to check out the DVD’s of the Gilmore Girls now…you have sold me!

As for the sweater….oh my….I don’t even know what to say!!! LOL….it’s definately UGLY and it really does look like a scarf. Congrats on a successful ugly sweater find!
