Valerie at Hachette Book Group has graciously offered this book for me to review and do a giveaway for!
This giveaway is closed as of Oct 28
Preston Clearwater has been a criminal since stealing two chain saws and 1,600 pairs of aviator sunglasses from the army during the Second World War. Back on the road in postwar North Carolina, now a member of a car-theft ring, he picks up hitchhiking Henry Dampier, an innocent twenty-year-old Bible salesman. Clearwater immediately recognizes Henry as smart but gullible, just the associate he needs–one who will believe Clearwater is working undercover for the F.B.I.; one who will drive the cars Clearwater steals as Clearwater follows along in his own car at a safe distance. Henry joyfully sees a chance to lead a dual life as a Bible salesman and a G-man.
During his hilarious and scary adventures, Henry grapples with doubts about the Bible’s accuracy, and we learn of his fundamentalist upbringing, an upbringing that doesn’t prepared him for his new life. As he falls in love with the captivating Marleen Green and questions his religious training, Henry begins to see he’s being used–that he is on his own in a way he never imagined.

I have never sold anything door to door, but did collect for UNICEF when I was a kid and it wasn’t fun for me. Too shy and hate rejection. I’d love to read this one. Please include me in the drawing

As a child, I sold things from a magazine as part of a school fundraiser.
andie.v107(at)yahoo(dot)com
I did that one year!
I have never sold anything door to door. As a child, I did sell things for fundraisers, but only to family members/family friends (my parents were way overprotective). I tried selling Mary Kay as an adult. I was too shy to approach strangers about a makeover and I felt bad taking money from family and friends. I am a terrible salesperson.
Please include me in the giveaway.
HI heatherzilla – I think it todays world that is the norm… not a whole lot of door to door any more. Isnt it amazing how quickly things have changed? And maybe amazing isnt the right word…. but scary may be.
I sold girl scout cookies as a young girl-but thats it
Yes, I was a telemarketer selling magazines. I was quite good at it; it was before the glut of telemarketers.

I have sold candy, sausage, and cookies as a child for club fundraisers. As an adult I used to sell catalog items for a large department store years a go. Thank you for entering me, the book sounds like a good entertaining read.
I sold magazines, candy, yearbook ads, etc. when I was in school. Sold some pizza kits and gift wrap for my kids when they were in school. Don’t think I’d do very well trying to sell anything now.
Please enter me in your contest.
When I was a kid, I sold candy bars for school fundraising, but that’s it. I don’t think I’d be good at selling ANYTHING door to door because I really hate selling. Period. And I’d most likely starve if America functioned on the barter system! I’d love to read this book, tho. Thanks for the chance to win a copy!

As a child I remember selling cards and chocolate bars door to door. I hated it. I can’t think of anything that I would be good selling door to door, or that I would even like to sell door to door as an adult.
