Word Verification Balderdash (My Thursday Thing) #2

balderdashLast week I posted about a little word game I enjoy while posting comments and entering the word verification that many comments on line require.  Word Verification Balderdash was born.  You can check out last weeks post for more details and I am encouraging anyone who would like to play along to please do!  🙂  You are welcome to use my Balderdash button here and post your creations.

Here are my favorite 5 word verifications from this past week with my made up definitions.  Yes, these are actual word verifications I had while commenting on blog posts:

Corypon:  A fancy mustard created by a guy named Cory.  (Say it with a snooty voice, “Please pass the Corypon.”

Anted:  When ants invade… the kitchen, the garbage, picnics and beyond.  You have been anted.

Ducto:  Duct tape in Spanish

Unitie:  A reversible tie in the event that you spill something on the one side.

Prepread:  That books that is “next in line” waiting to be read, but something always seems to come before it.

There you have it.  If you do this meme, please leave your link here so I (and others) may go check it out.  Someday I hope I can make Mr Linky work with wordpress but as of yet have not figured that out.

(I will add you to this list if you do this meme)

  1. Okay, I can TOTALLY hear the snooty voice on the “corypon” balderdash! Way cool…

  2. Great list. Though I could do with never being Anted.

    Here is mine:

  3. You found a cool way to deal with it!

  4. Prepread is the perfect way to describe my copy of North and South by Gaskell. What a fun idea! I’ll have to think of some for next week.

  5. I love it! I’ll meme’ing this for sure once I learn how to meme 😉

I have a prepread list for sure…someone should have come up with a term for this sooner. Maybe you’ll make it into the next version of Websters (do you have to give credit to computer generated letters?).

  6. I gave it my best shot, but hoping that practice makes perfect and next week’s will be better! *L*

Here’s mine for the week: http://alexia561.blogspot.com/2009/08/word-verification-balderdash.html

  7. I’m back, how fun!

    here’s my link:

    I was anted once, **shivers***

  8. I have an award for you 🙂

  9. Oh – the word verification stuff drives me so crazy – especially the ones that are really hard to read – and then my fingers type something logical because they are programmed that way, rather than the letters I’m supposed to type…

Maybe if I played this I wouldn’t get so frustrated!

  10. I would like some Corypon on my sandwich please. haahahahahah that’s an awesome meme I should try this next week!

  11. This is so clever!! Please add me to your list. How will it work in the future? We post ours after your next one appears? And I know what you mean about the Mr Linky gadget.I am totally lost figuring that one out..

    • Hi Yvette,

Throughout the week just watch your word verifications when comment. Jot down the fun ones that you can make an imaginary definition for and then next Thursday post them on your blog (you can use the balderdash pic here) and link back to me. I in turn when I know your post is up – will link to you. They dont all make good ones, but some are a lot of fun…

Glad to have you on board!

  12. What a fun idea! I love Corypon – I can picture it already.

  13. Sometimes word verifications are really close to what the post is about. That’s always a little freaky.

I have to admit, I forgot to do this! 😦 I’ll have to remember it for next week.

  14. “Ducto: Duct tape in Spanish”

LOL… this is great! I love your made-up definitions.

  15. just noticed a very small happy face on your background…never saw it before. cute!

    • You see it too? Oh good! I thought it was just me…LOL I have no idea where it came from or how it got there, just one day… there it was….

(For those who have no idea what we are talking about – in the upper right side beyond the blog sidebar you can see a faint little smiley face in the gray area…just below the header)

  16. Haha. I love these. I must turn on my creative juices for this meme. Bravo for coming up with this new trend.

  17. Sheer brilliance! I will definitely be playing along with this one, Sheila. Found your blog (and this meme) on alipet813’s blog, and am very glad I did. Just subscribed.

  18. This sounds like so much fun. I will join when Thursday comes around. Some of them made me laugh. =)

  19. This is just too funny – and sometimes I’ve done this “unofficially.” I’ll have to start noting them so I can play along.

  20. Hi
