Morning Meanderings…

Good Morning!  By the time you read this know I have already been to the gym working off (hopefully) the wonderful Chocolates I indulged in over the weekend.  🙂

In yesterdays Meandering I was all pumped up about the book shelf that is being placed around the upper part of my reading room.  Today I promised pictures.  I dont have a fully finished product yet as they did not get finished, but most of them are up.  I will add more pics after it is completely done and with books even on them!

Oh and how appropriate…. this post marks my 100th Morning Meandering 🙂

Morning Meanderings…

Hoo Hoo!  Today is the day I get the book shelves in my Reading Room.  I am excited and nervous all together…..  this is my Christmas present from my husband and it will be a shelf that goes around the top of three sides of the room.  The point of this is to relieve the pressure of my bulging book shelves by putting my already read and collections up high.

I am excited because this is really going to help me with the recent book clutter…. and nervous because I am using a guy who was a recommendation and I have only met with him once when he measured the room…. I have never actually seen the shelves…. and …. I know…. breathe.

So – there will be pictures tomorrow.  He said this will be like a 6 hour project (yow!) so I am at home all day today.  I plan to write a couple reviews and catch up on some filing.

I know many of you set your books free once they are read but what about those of you who like to keep the treasured ones?  Where do you keep them, how do you organize them – if you organize them, and why do you keep them?  (Yeah… I have questions!)

In the meantime…. my two dogs Bailey and Elmo look out the window knowing something is up….  😉

Bailey and Elmo

Have an awesome day – I have an incredible review coming up in a couple hours.

Morning Meanderings…

YES!  The weekend is here.  I am in my chair in the reading room surrounded by books.  Ahhhhhhh!  I really have nothing planned for today and I thrilled about that.   No cooking to do, no cleaning…. all has been done over the last couple of days.  No errands to run.  Al is working on bids today in the office and Justin will be waking soon and then off to work for him.  The house is filled with only me.

My plan is to grab another cup of coffee, settle in with my favorite blanket and bask myself in a world of books.  It has been a long time since I have had a day like this and I am so ready for it.  I have books to finish, reviews to write and I am hopeful that in that sense, today will be quite productive.

How about you?  As Christmas has passed for 2009, are you still traveling and visiting?  On your way back to your homes?  Out checking to see the great after Christmas sales?  Or like me, looking at your day and seeing nothing pressing and demanding of your time and grabbing a book… (if so… what book did you grab?)

Morning Meanderings…

Its a snowy day here in central Minnesota.  I am sitting at my lap top this morning with Coffee Cup close by and a few Dove Chocolates.  Al is outside plowing out the driveway and Justin is still sleeping from our late night of watching Harry Potter movies, #5 and #6 back to back.  We went to bed about 2 am.

With Brad in the Navy we changed up our regular Christmas morning gift exchange to Christmas Eve.  We figured that way everyone could sleep in if they want to and have all day today to relax and enjoy.  It was wonderfully bitter sweet.  Al is always so hard to buy for but loved his laptop and played on it for hours after we were all done opening.  It was fun to see him so excited.

Justin received the camera he wanted and after I had spend painstaking hours trying to find the right one…. I was thrilled to see that he loved the one I picked!

Among the wonderful things I received was a Barnes and Noble gift card (My Mother Ship!) and two books – one I have been wanting really bad and the other I have never heard of but am excited to read it as it sounds fun!

About three things I was absolutely certain. First, Edwart was most likely my soul mate, maybe. Second, there was a vampire part of him–which I assumed was wildly out of his control–that wanted me dead. And third, I unconditionally, irrevocably, impenetrably, heterogeneously, gynecologically, and disreputably wished he had kissed me.

Oh my gosh – right?  Does this not sound funny???  I hadn’t heard of this book before I opened it last night, a gift from my son, and now I just want to start reading this sure to be a laugh out loud giggle fest picking on my beloved Twilight Series… and that’s ok!  🙂

There’s something achingly familiar about Daniel Grigori.

Even though Daniel wants nothing to do with Luce–and goes out of his way to make that very clear–she can’t let it go. Drawn to him like a moth to a flame, she has to find out what Daniel is so desperate to keep secret . . . even if it kills her.

Mysterious and aloof, he captures Luce Price’s attention from the moment she sees him on her first day at the Sword & Cross boarding school in sultry Savannah, Georgia. He’s the one bright spot in a place where cell phones are forbidden, the other students are all screw-ups, and security cameras watch every move.

I have been coveting this book for awhile now and my super sweet husband found it for me!   The cover is awesome….  I am anxious to see what it holds inside!

I am off to check on the turkey, shovel the deck walkway in front for us and in back for the dogs and then…. I am sitting down with a book.  Merry Christmas Everyone – I hope your day and your weekend is exactly what you had hoped it would be!

Oh yeah – I linked up these books so I need to disclose that I am an Amazon associate.  😉

Morning Meanderings….

It’s Christmas Eve and we have snowfall and lots of it. I just looked at the weather report and found this:

Statement as of 7:36 AM CST on December 24, 2009 … Winter Storm Warning remains in effect until 6 am CST
Saturday…

* Road conditions will continue to deteriorate during the day.  There may be somewhat of a let up in the snow from midday into  early evening… but the next round of heavy snow will move back in tonight… and continue into Christmas day.

What does this mean for us?  Well – I work in the office today.  I have 4 wheel drive in my Durango so I can pretty much get anywhere.  I have a couple things I forgot to pick up at the grocery store I will hit that this morning as well….  and  I am stocked up to endure the weekend here in  the house if need be and that would actually be quite appealing to me after all the running of late.

Maybe the guys will get the snowmobiles out this weekend and if they ride – I get to stay home and read!  🙂

I’ll be posting through the weekend so stop back if you can…. and if you are traveling wherever you are drive safe and have a wonderful weekend!

**ONE REMINDER:  The Gift Card giveaway will end today for the YA Reviews.  Check that out here – one person will be receiving a $20 Amazon gift card!  Today is the last day to enter and by doing so you will be helping a wonderful person out!  🙂

For now I leave you with this (these are pictures of my yard this past April of 2009 as well as a couple other pics I took the liberty of adding……. I woke up and gasped…. it looked like Narnia.

Morning Meanderings…

I haven’t had a morning post in days…..  I hate that.  I love connecting in the morning and sharing what is happening and then hearing from all of you.  It kind if my thing…

I actually started a post yesterday, hurrying through it as I knew the clock was ticking closer to the time I was suppose to be at the gym.  The words were not coming together… and frankly, they were boring.  I was bored with my own words that were suppose to be witty – and well, I tossed it in the “DELETE” pile and went to the gym.

So this morning, I still have nothing brilliant say but did want to check in and say although life has been busy – I am still here.  Last night I put a post up for Mrs. Claus Explains It All and later today will be the results of my first ever Horrid Henry book, Horrid Henry’s Christmas.

I have one more small item to pick up and my groceries for Christmas dinner but other than that I am done.  (The word done echos in my head like the Liberty Bell).  I think if I had a little energy I would be doing a happy dance as well, but that is going to have to wait.

How about you?  Are you done with waiting in lines, and clicking “purchase” on line?  Are the searches over the perfect gift?  AND (this is important!) if you are one of those people who have finished months ago and these past few weeks have mearly been Christmas specials on TV and good books by the fireplace….  I want…. I NEED… the secret to your success.  Share it.  I must know…. I want to be the person who shops early but it has yet to happen in my 42 years.

Have a wonderful day everyone!  My plans are minimal for the next few days…. we dont have a lot of family so it will be the three of us here and I will be reading and posting.  Stop in when you can, I would love to hear from you.  For those who are traveling and have a crazy weekend ahead – drive safe and Merry Christmas!

Morning Meanderings…

So here is the result of my super woman attempts this week to be all that I can be and get up early and work out with my friend Jenifer at 6:00 am daily:   A for effort……  D- for over all results

I had no idea how much that would throw off my schedule.  Or maybe it is just the wrong time of year but I really ended up feeling I was being pulled like taffy in 20 different directions.  I had to stop and review my week since last Friday:

  • Friday – worked out, worked, Builders Christmas Party

  • Saturday – oil change, picked up Chance, met Justin in St Cloud for a day of hanging out (hour from home) Justin  is now home from college until mid January

  • Sunday – All day all Brad, then drove Brad in a snow storm to Fargo ( 2 1/2 hours away) to get him to where he needed to be to catch his plane on Monday for boot camp.  Drove back (another 2 1/2 hours) in snow storm home about 11:30 pm.

  • Monday – one of our trucks break down so I have to drive to St Cloud to bring back the driver of the truck (another road trip).  Dinner that evening with friends where we giggled and talked a lot and I didnt get back home until after 9 pm

  • Tuesday- Up to start the workouts with Jennifer and meet her at 6:30 am only to find out I should have been there at 6.  Worked in office all day, home work, dinner, shot.

  • Wednesday – up to do the 6 am thing, in office by 8 (pretty impressive!) working on large project that has to be done this week, stay late, get home, son wants to hang out and do a movie, so I scrap my evening plan (because we do anything for our kids!) and go to a movie with him then come home and hang out with him until I drop – but want him to drop first.

  • Thursday – 6 am workout…. in office by 8 am (yay – but a tired yay!) huge project includes a mail merge, 1200 names…. not going well, needs to hit the mail on Friday and I wind up staying in office until 5 pm.  Rush then to get pizza for my hubby as I have not planned dinner, up until almost midnight.

I tell you all this because I have to share with you the result of my super woman attempt.  I was in the office yesterday early (as stated) and being the first one in the office I made the coffee, did a little straightening, etc.  Around noon, I realized I had been so busy I had skipped my morning oatmeal which is a a daily ritual for me.  I go back in the office kitchen and proceed to put the oatmeal in a coffee filter.  Yup.  I did not pull out a bowl…. but put it in the coffee filter.

Unbelievable!  I am so thankful I caught it and didn’t run it through the coffee pot too!

So today – I skipped the morning work out.  I slept until 6:45 am and leisurely got up and got my coffee and now at 7:40 am… I am still here, relaxing.  I wont give up on the morning workouts, I just think I will switch them up to every other day.  Today I work in the office to continue prepping the mailing.  Fridays a re normally my day off but it didn’t work out that way this week.  Tonight we have our company Christmas Party.  Another busy day.

Any crazy stories you would like to share so the oatmeal incident doesn’t seem so “call the men with the straight jackets“?

Morning Meanderings…

If you read yesterdays meandering post you know that I had an early workout with a friend yesterday.  What you do now know…. is that i was wrong, and I was not meeting her at 6:30 at all…

I was late.

Turns out we were suppose to meet at 6 am, and I totally goofed it.  :0

So today – I did meet her at the designated time of 6 am.  That was harder yet to be ready and motivated but I did it and it is amazing how it sets my day off better.  For one, after the work out I was able to go get groceries for the white chili I want to make tonight for dinner instead of scrambling to do so after work.  Secondly – I arrive not only on time to the office – but early!  By the time everyone else gets in today I will well be on my way!

I thought this called for a little music as I am finally getting (just a bit) into the spirit of Christmas.  This is my absolute favorite Christmas show…. makes me cry every time.

Here’s an awesome version of this song:

I will have a review up this afternoon and another giveaway or two tonight!  have a great day everyone!

Morning Meanderings

I have pulled Coffee Cup off the shelf at 5:45 am this morning.  Why?  Because I made a commitment to work out with a friend (do I use this term loosely because of the time we have committed to?) at 6:30 am at the YMCA.

On paper, this sounds good…. get up early – get it out of the way…. move on with my day and not have the pending workout hanging over my head.

In reality?  I am tired… unmotivated… and going to really not be happy if she is thinking the same thing and says forget this and doesn’t show up.

SO….  while I have a few minutes here for a second cup of coffee before I grab my work clothes and head out the door… I want to talk books.  Have you see this?

This is the set of all 8 of the Sookie Stackhouse books for $35.46 at Amazon.  I seen this last week and I keep looking at it.  I think it is a good deal… I only have the first on e in this series and believe I paid at least $8 for it.  It still sits on my shelf unread… but I do find comfort in the fact that I can pick it up and read it any time I want.

They seem to have such a following and so many people have read them and are loving them.

So have you read any of these? Are they good?

I have to run…. later on there is of course a review… and if I can find some time later – I have a few giveaways I need to post as well!

Morning Meanderings…

In a word.  I am tired.

I could add more words…  Heavy hearted.  Excited.  Exhausted.  (I think I am too tired to think of words…LOL)

If you read yesterdays morning post you know that we spent the day with our oldest son Brad and then drove him to Fargo to catch his plane this morning to go to the Navy Boot Camp in Illinois.  On top of the fact that his birthday is this Wednesday, and or course not here for Christmas – the drive to Fargo is 2 1/2 hours in some pretty blah snowy weather.  The way home was slick and we pulled back into the yard around 11 pm.  I am tired and exhausted for those reasons.

I do want to let anyone know who has read The Heretics Daughter, or has it sitting on their shelf – we are doing a Word Shakers Book Group discussion on this book next Monday, December 21.  Anyone is welcome to join in this discussion and I hope to get questions out later today to those who I know are participating.  Drop ins to this discussion are welcome so feel free to join in and ask your questions as well.  🙂

As for me- I am going to read a little bit, relax – and try to start this day over in an hour or so.  I have a review going up in a little bit on 40 Loaves.
