House Rules by Jodi Piccoult (Spoiler)

STOP!  If you have not read the book House Rules by Jodi Piccoult please read no further.  This area is for those of us who have read the book and want to discuss it further with no worries of spoiling plot for other readers.

That being said – let me just say…. what the ….?  I can not believe the way Jodi Piccoult ended this book.  Seriously major disappointment here.  The book was incredible – so detailed so layed out well.  I wanted to know more.  I get how the whole crime came together but there really was no final court moment…. what happened???

And a little bit more into the “rest of the story” would have been nice.  Couldn’t we have ended with Henry going back to his family but with a new respect as well as a plan to be more attentive to his original family?   And as for Oliver I would think this case would have helped him get others and therefore considerably help his bank account which in turn would helped Emma and the kids too….

I guess I wanted more.  Maybe I am asking for too much but such a detailed book made me think that I should have had a more detailed ending.  What are your thoughts?

  1. I loved the audio version of this book so much, and because the story was so interesting, I was not even disappointed by how she chose to end it…”her book, her ending”…LOL

    1. Right Diane. I would like to read her thoughts on this (Jodi’s) I mean she must be answering this somewhere. I am just trying to figure out why the hurry 🙂

  2. I thought my iBooks had failed me. I read everything Jodi Piccoult writes and WTF?!! I was pleasantly reading along, anticipating her usual artful closure to such a well-written novel up to that point, and, NOTHING? I still don’t know what to say about it….

  3. I was so confused! I just finished the book, it was on my kindle, someone had sent it to me and I’m wondering if something is wrong with my book? It ended with rich repeating the story of when he lost his daughter for a moment?.? Help!

  4. I just finished it and I hated the ending. I was steaming with disappointment. To take the reader that far and then leave them is just plain wrong. I wish I had read the spoiler before I invested so many hours in reading it. I would NOT have read it!

  5. I’m dyslexic… it take a lot longer to get through a book, a lot of energy to get through a book and to actually follow thought and finish it… this was SOO DISAPPOINTING!
