Hey all – another Christmas here and gone, and in a few short days, we will be closing the chapter on 2025.
For me its been a great reading year – my best in 10 years. I am closing out the year at 77 books (possibly 78). Not only has it been a good year for quantity of reading, but also quality. I have read some great reads thanks to Book Club picks, recommendations from friends, and some lucky random picks as well.
Here are some of my favorites – a few of these (3) I have not read yet, but will be soon.
What would you add to this?

Heart the Lover by Lily King
The Souls of Lost Lake by Jaime Jo Wright
Atmosphere by Taylor Jenkins Reid
The Sirens by Emilia Hart
We Are Watching by Alison Gaylin
The Moonflowers by Abigail Rose-Marie
Nice! I do have Atmosphere on my radar!
Sheila,I actually hit and have now surpassed my goal of 180 and as you know from my past that’s low. But I’m doing so few ARCS anymore.
My two favorites this year are “Hazel and the Dust Bunny Fairies” by RSS Rodrigues and “The Memory Collectors” by Dete Meserve which I have actually added to my favorite of all time list.
Looking forward to the First Book 2026 list
That is so impressive! I work 50 hours a week salary as an Event Coordinator – with over 100 weddings a year I just cant get that many in 😀
Thanks for sharing your favs!
180?!!!!!!! That’s crazy-impressive. You don’t see me, but my jaw dropped when I read that number!
So I dare share that I once read 330 in a year not so long ago? I don’t own a TV and have always been a reader. I’m a retired minister and disabled …..
Nice presentation, Sheila. And definitely some great reads. And great recommendations. I shot for 52 this year, but fell short. Too much writing.

I’m excited to read your new book Cary! You gifted it to me from the Minnesota Library Friends 😀
The Woman They Could Not Silence is up next on my TBR list. I had a few of yours on my favorite read list this year (Broken Country, The Book Club for Troublesome Women, The Women) along with these: Call of the Camino, We All Live Here, Wayward Girls, What the Wind Knows, The Goddess of Warsaw, The Girls of Good Fortune, and It’s a Love Story.
You will LOVE that book! We actually read it for book club a couple of years ago but I recently saw it on a best of 2025 list so included it here so others do not miss out on such an important book.
I’m glad you included it. So many books on my list/pile that I forget which “must read” I haven’t read yet!
Exactly! Same thing happens to me!
remarkably bright creatures! An absolute treasure
I was weirded out about the synopsis… I know I know… ME. Then when I finally read it – it was so beautifully one.
your review pushed me to read it so thank you
Oh yay!!!
What a fun way to show some of your favorites! I agree that 2025 was a really good reading year. I read a few fewer books than usual, but I feel like I read a ton of great books.
Happy New Year!
I hit some good ones 🙂 Happy New year!
The book I just finished and could be my last read of the year: Before I Forget by Tory Henwood Hoen. The audio is great. The more I got into it the more I loved it. I enjoyed many on your list. I think 2025 was a great year for readers.
I will check it out – thank you Mary!
I am so happy you had your best reading year in ten years!
