Wednesday. Already.
COFFEE CUP in hand, sun is out. Day has begun.
Yesterday afternoon I received a book package. For those of you who review books like myself I have to ask,
“Is it ever not exciting?”
I mean, even though I have been doing this since 2009 (EEP!), I still get excited about the package in the mailbox or on my doorstep. I cant wait to rip into that manila envelope and expose what is inside.
Is it a mystery?
A new friendship?
Something that will make me laugh? Cry? Think?
Will I learn something new?
Will it be a book I talk about long after that last page is turned?
This is the book that graced my doorstep yesterday. I opened the package. I looked at that cover. I think something like “ooooh” escaped my lips. Yup, you can not take the book geek out of the girl.
Seriously though LOOK at that cover. LOOK at that title. How could you not want to know?
So that’s my thoughts this morning. I have coffee with my aunt to get to, a meeting at the mall, things to prepare for the benefit, and later the City Library meeting.
Talk to me about your books at your door. If not at your door, at that local book store.
We have a used bookstore in town that sells some new books. It’s a really big store and has a pretty good selection. I need to go armed with a list of series I really like and can’t find elsewhere. My daughters have found lots of good books that they love.
I do miss getting physical books sometimes, as most of my review books come from NetGalley. But thanks to Amazon Vine, I do get them now and then. However, mine don’t come to my door….I have to drive to the post office. Still exciting, though. Enjoy!
I agree – getting those packages never gets old.
I love getting book packages! Especially surprise ones! That’s how I found Jane Grreen’s newest book! Now to Alex Grecian! I read and loved this one but I love this series! I think this is the fourth one with the same characters! if you have not read him before you must. The only thing I wonder about is reading this one without reading the first ones because the character personalities are so distinct and the books were so connected!
Ooh, is that Alex Grecian’s new novel? I follow his Scotland Yard detectives serie7….is that part of it?
I have been looking at all of the new books coming out this summer, adding them to my library lists. So many books, so little time 🙂
Yes — it never gets old 🙂 I get books from various sources such as Goodreads, LibraryThing, Bookreporter, blog giveaways, and even some random ones. Digital copies(NetGalley & FirsttoRead),although exciting, are not quite the same.
Despite of these piled up all over my house, I still pick up books from library sales, thrift stores, and our condo building’s lending library. We had explored several of the beach condo buildings when we were looking for our place and it seems these free libraries are common.
Completely agree! I love that mailer sitting on my porch and the anticipation of what’s inside there. No, no, you’ll never get all the nerd out of a book geek.
Getting those packages are THE BEST!
I get excited about any packages, but most especially books!
I have only been getting packages on my door for a short time and so happy to know that after all your years that thrill still remains. I mean, what more could you want in a package!!
Getting books in the mail never gets old! I hope you love it.
Getting books in the mail is exciting! Enjoy!
I am a school librarian, and I just got an email from my main vendor with MARC records for my latest order. That means that means boxes of new books for my students might be sitting in my office when I get there this morning. If that doesn’t make you look forward to a Thursday, I don’t know what would!
yesterday I won a book at Goodreads giveaway and now is th LONG waiting time for it to arrive 😀
I don’t really get review books any more, but I remember the feeling!
