You know how sometimes it is just DANGEROUS to put a group of witty readers int he same room? They can really feed off each other and you never know what is going to happen.
I think it went down like this…
On Tuesday we had book club here at my house. We were discussing those of our group who are out exploring the world on this spring break week. Someone mentioned they should have taken a “Flat Stanley” with them which somehow led to…
Flat Bookie.
A bookish relative to Flat Stanley who would travel when the Bookies travel so the Bookies can take pics with him when they are in bookish situations… such as…
book stores
author events
and of course, just reading a good book wherever they are
I love ideas like this.
Yesterday afternoon I went about creating the Flat Bookie. Something simple we can cut out and laminate and send off on adventures…. bookish of course.
For the record, I did not wear a bra on my head while doing this (for you 80’s people, that is a Weird Science movie reference)
It was fun and I presented to the group the result:
Behold!!!! The Flat Bookie!!!!
Ok. LOL. I am done. 🙂 Guess who will be traveling with me to the Book Expo this May?
In case you do not know what I am talking about when I mention Flat Stanley – here is a link. I once had one I took to Honduras with me for a friends daughters project.
Have you ever had a Flat Stanley travel with you? If so where?
Oh, my! The idea of Flat Bookie is hilarious! Your book club sounds like great fun, Sheila!
They are all a bunch of dorks. LOL, JK – I love them 😀
I know who Flat Stanley is but we never had one travel with us. I don’t know why Vance never had to do that.
I dont think my kids had to do it either some of my friends younger kids have done this and I have helped 😉
My son took part in a Flat Stanley project and it was a ton of fun! We took Flat Stanley with us everywhere for a week, and he recorded his adventures in a little journal. Your Flat Bookie is cute! You should send him out to book bloggers around the world and see what adventures come back with him!
I’d never heard of Flat Stanley, Sheila, but I can’t help but think he’s what started (or was it a sock monkey?) so many of the pics I see with a stuffed something or other, like when Mr. Schu brings a stuffed kidlit character on vacation and Lisa Yee brings her Peep bunny. I love it 🙂 Yay for YOUR Flat Stanley!
LOL! luv this idea.
Yes, my daughter had to make a Flat Stanley, and he traveled through the mail to several different places. Now I want to go back and read the actual books 🙂
We took Flat Stanley with us to Hawaii for my Grandson. Several people actually knew what we were doing!
