Morning Meanderings… And The Award Goes To….. Well Neil.

1a

Tuesday!  Really my first connection on Book Journey since Sunday evening when I put up the Monday What Are You Reading post. So……

That gives me free rein to chat up The Oscars from Sunday night.

Which.

I forgot all about.

I know right?

I don’t know what happened.

So I had to catch the highlights and YA once again for Neil Patrick Harris.  After listening to his audio book a few months back it was so fun to see him complete this dream of hosting the Oscars, and host them he did.  If you seen the Oscars or not – you more than likely heard about Neils’ EPIC intro that took not only the Oscar’s but probably Hollywood itself to a whole new level.

But… don’t take my word for it, see for yourself.  I will wait here.  Well… by the coffee pot.  I will wait there.

I have a whole new respect for award shows thanks to Neil.  Hi is just fun to watch, and having grown up on Doogie Howser, I really have watched him since he was young.  And I would be remiss, if I did not find some way to connect this to a Harry Potter moment and here it is:

Not only Dumbledore…. Neil has style too.

And the winners were for best Actor were:

WINNER: Eddie Redmayne for The Theory of Everything

Steve Carell for Foxcatcher
Benedict Cumberbatch for The Imitation Game
Bradley Cooper for American Sniper
Michael Keaton for Birdman

And the winners for best actress were:

WINNER: Julianne Moore for Still Alice
Marion Cotillard for Two Days, One Night
Felicity Jones for The Theory of Everything
Rosamund Pike for Gone Girl
Reese Witherspoon for Wild

Best Picture was:

WINNER: Birdman

So many movies I have not yet seen!  I love it and kudos to all the movies nominated that were first books!!!  I want an Oscar night for books!!!  Hmmmm…. let me think on that.  😉

Did you watch the Oscars?  If you did what did you think of it?

    1. It gets long for sure… I normally would not like anything but knowing the final stuff- best actress, best actor, and best movie… all the rest I suppose is important to them but not to me 🙂 Neil Patrick Harris is who I like to watch as he comes up with crazy stuff. 🙂 Kind of like watching the super bowl… I just like the commercials;)

  1. I have to admit that I really wanted The Imitation Game to win – I thoguht it was a great movie – but glad to see that Eddie R won best actor (I haven’t seen Theory of Everything yet, but looking forward to it) and Still Alice is also on my list

      1. I want to go and see Imitation Game again! but I’m a sucker for WW2 movies – need to find some place playing Still Alice by me; and I kidn of want to see Whiplash as well (best supporting actor winner)

  2. Sheila, I watched some of the Oscars (including the awards at the end). I haven’t seen many of the movies nominated, though but I did see Wild, and thought Reese Witherspoon was incredible. Thanks for this wrap-up post!

  3. I agree with you — Neil was the STAR! I have to laugh because I saw the first 30 minutes, (it begins at 5:30 on the west coast) went to dinner with friends, came home and saw the last 60 minutes. I don’t feel I missed a thing.

  4. Wow…I must have watched a totally different awards show…most reviews for him were not flattering and the show itself had the worst viewing ever…down from last year by 7 million viewers.

  5. I saw Birdman and can’t believe how well it did at the awards. I love Keaton, and he played the part well, but I couldn’t get into the story and to me, that’s what makes the film.

  6. You know, I used to love watching the Oscars and movie award shows a loooong time ago. Then I started getting fed up with watching a lot of people really full of themselves, and I also know that so much of this has to do with how well the movies are promoted to those who vote. Also, the more it sunk in just how deflating awards can be for all the people who didn’t actually win, but did fantastic work, it deflated my interest in a very big way—across the board, not just with movies. I get so tired of the constant competition, so I no longer watch these shows. I AM glad you posted this clip though, ’cause I loved it. I used to love when Billy Crystal hosted 😀 And the last time I watched the whole show was the year Peter Jackson and his crew won for the last of the Lord of the Rings trilogy (I think they waited ’til the last one ’cause they couldn’t give it to them EVERY year lol). Anyway, it looks like Neil did an outstanding job. Didn’t know he could sing 🙂

  7. I didn’t watch the Oscars, but afterward I went on Facebook and got all caught up 🙂 I really loved Lady Gaga’s tribute to the Sound of Music. And Julie Andrews looked so lovely!

  8. Yes Yes. I like watching the Oscars each year. It’s fun and there were a lot of good movies this year. What’s not to like?

Hmmmm... what do you think?
