Good morning! I think I have a Birthday weekend hangover and not from drinking. 🙂 I just had a really busy weekend that was a lot of fun!
On Saturday my friend Amy and I went to the Gatsby Party in the cities. It was a late night as we drove home the 2+ hours after the event but worth it. I was inspired by what they accomplished.
On Sunday, hubby and I went to a movie, American Sniper. SO good. I will review it at some point this week.
Monday…. my actual birthday. I had coffee in the morning with my friend Gail. Then I went and treated myself to a manicure and pedicure. My son Justin who lives in St. Paul came to the house around 3 pm and we went out and bought snacks for the night, went to a movie ( Project Almanac), picked up pizza afterwards, and came back home and watched Harry Potter and the Goblet Of Fire and Gone Girl. (yes, again on both of them 😀 ).

Tonight is book club and I am so excited! I missed last months as I was on vacation so it will be good to see everyone AND it is at my house. We have a couple of books to hand out tonight for our Harper Collins Book Club Girls event:

As for today, Justin is still here. We will hang out this morning and early afternoon than he has plans with friends and I will put the finishing touches on book club. We are reviewing The Silent Sister by Diane Chamberlain, an author who I discovered this past fall and LOVED this book as well as a few others I have now read by her. I am excited to see what the Bookies think.
Now… what will I make for an appetizer? 😉

Loved loved loved Vintage! I just got “The Precious One” and I will read it soon…but…with those new shiny books on the table you can serve anything for a starter! When I need a starter I hit Pinterest…my new faves are Tortellini Skewers!

We are the first group to do this I think the test group. To my understanding Harper will offer this again once we are done with our 6 months which I think is in March or April. 🙂
Ohhhh….I thought I received this offer too, but I guess I am mistaken. I turned it down. It must have been something else I guess.
I love my book club and wanted to do it, but my book club is picky and didn’t want to deal with it. 🙂

It was initially something you signed up for as a book club, you had to give all your book club members Facebook info and Good reads. They chose 6 books clubs and to my understanding, when we are done they will choose 6 different groups. 🙂
If your book club is not fully on board with it it would be hard – they do want you to read and post about the books on line and on blogs where possible, and they like all members to participate.
My rule for our group is that if we ever take on anything extra (like this) it does not effect our regular book club criteria, meaning – we will still vote and choose a book to read, even if it is not the one that was sent us. That means, we are reading two books a month with this program (Harper book and our pick book) and thank goodness it is Winter! 😀
I would love to do it, but they won’t write anything so that’s why I couldn’t do it. 😦
Oh well…I need to move to Brainerd. 🙂

We are reading a Diane Chamberlain book in my afternoon book group for February (Necessary Lies). I haven’t read it yet but still have time since we meet on the last Tuesday of the month.
I read Vintage last year and I remember that I liked it. I hope your group enjoys it too!
