Hey there! Welcome to It’s Monday, What Are You Reading!
I love being a part of this and I hope you do too! As part of this weekly meme I love to encourage you all to go and visit the others participating in this meme. Fair warning… this meme tends to add to your reading list!
Its been a pretty good week, I had quite a few opportunities to get in some good audio time and have apparently made some good choices lately as I am on a good streak of enjoying everything I have been reading and listening to. Here is what I posted this week:
The Weight Of Blood by Laura McHugh
Panic By Lauren Oliver (Oliver has done it again!)
The Troop by Nick Cutter (looking for a good scare? The troop is spooky good!)
Armchair BEA and BEA – they are coming – learn more about them here 🙂
Missing You by Harlan Coben (if you are looking for a great thriller author that is not over the top, fun to read and great story lines… Harlan is that author)
A pretty good week! This week I will be listening to and reading:
For my Ears:
On the midnight shift at a hospital in rural St. Andrew, Maine, Dr. Luke Findley is expecting a quiet evening. Until a mysterious woman arrives in his ER, escorted by police—Lanore McIlvrae is a murder suspect—and Luke is inexplicably drawn to her. As Lanny tells him her story, an impassioned account of love and betrayal that transcends time and mortality, she changes his life forever. . . . At the turn of the nineteenth century, when St. Andrew was a Puritan settlement, Lanny was consumed as a child by her love for the son of the town’s founder, and she will do anything to be with him forever. But the price she pays is steep—an immortal bond that chains her to a terrible fate for eternity.
Love Life serves up another delicious selection of intimate stories and observations from Rob Lowe’s life, told with humor, warmth, and brutal honesty. After writing his acclaimed debut effort, Lowe felt he had more stories to share and many more friends to introduce. The result is a touching memoir about the business and craft of acting, the pitfalls of success, family, love, and much more.
For My Eyes:
Bay Singer has bigger secrets than most. She doesn’t know about them, though. Her mother, Nan, has made sure of that. But one phone call from the sheriff makes Nan realize that the past is catching up. Nan decides that she has to make things right, and invites over the two estranged friends who know the truth. Ruthie and Mavis arrive in a whirlwind of painful memories, offering Nan little hope of protecting Bay. But even the most ruined garden is resilient, and their curious reunion has powerful effects that none of them could imagine, least of all Bay.

I’m curious about The Memory Garden. Enjoy your week….
I am trying it for Bloggers Recommended – there are 4 I have my eye on… this one just is calling to me 🙂
Oooh, The Taker sounds good. Enjoy your week!
It is good so far!
Just a tad bit jealous of The Taker
I adored the Troop and it’s creepy factor, you might want to try Guillermo Del Toro’s Strain trilogy.
I want to read Love Life, but that has to happen once I’ve finished listening to his first one!
I love Harlan Coben’s books. I have Missing You on my TBR. Have a great week!
I did so like your review of Missing You. Looking forward to Armchair BEA. I like following the various blogs.
I started reading The Troop but I couldn’t get into it. I may read it again and see if I can get into it the next time. I am weird liek that… some times, it takes me a few times to get into a book!
I’ve seen Panic around but your review has me thinking I’ll try it. I like the Hunger Games without all the over the top everyone must die thing- seems more realistic. Like maybe something that could really happen… Missing You sounds like it could be pretty good too.
I really enjoyed Rob Lowe’s first effort, didn’t realise he’s written another, must get it.
I treasure those times when every book I read just seems to be perfect! I’m glad you’re in that streak now. I hope you have a great reading week! -Earl!
I just purchased Missing You for my Kindle only to find it’s on a pre-order GGGRRRRRR!
I’m keen to see what you think of The Taker, I’ve seen mixed reviews so I’m still on the fence about reading it … if anyone can convince me you can lol. Have a great week and happy reading Sheila 🙂
It seems like you have some great books lined up with mysterious plots – I’d particularly like to hear more about The Taker.
This week I’m reading Every Day. I’d had it on my wishlist for a while but your review a month or so ago piqued my interest just enough to make me give in and purchase it.
Happy Reading!
🙂
Wouldn’t it be glorious if someone could invent a mechanism that would send us to read the perfect book for us every time?!
Here’s my It’s Monday!
I’m jealous that you have the new Rob Lowe. I’ll be watching to see what you think of it.
I want to read The Weight of Blood. I’ve heard really good things about it.
Rob Lowe’s memoir caught my eye. I grew up watching his movies in the 80s!
Lauren Oliver is great. The Memory Garden looks really good! Happy reading!
ROB! I loved his first one and can’t wait for your review.
Interesting!
Love the cover of The Memory Garden. And it sounds good as well as looking good. 🙂
The Taker sounds really good, Sheila! I’m sorry I’ve been away so long…I’m trying to get my meme groove back on….
I’m looking forward to Armchair BEA. I went to BEA one year, traveled elsewhere for two years, and this year, I’ll be home to enjoy the Armchair activities.
You’re listening to The Memory Garden and I’m reading it! Have a good week.
I am looking forward to listening to the new Rob Lowe book! I really enjoyed his first book and I love him on The West Wing and Parks and Rec. Can’t wait to see what he does next!
Have a great week! ~Megan
LOVE the cover on THE MEMORY GARDEN 🙂
Wow, lots of reading AND blogging for you last week! Good for you! Hope you enjoy your books this week, too –
Sue
Book By Book
Book by Book is now on Facebook!
Looks like you had a good week. Isn’t it great to have audios to fill in between “eye” time?
Happy Reading!
I liked Before I Fall a lot. I have heard nothing but good things about Panic, too. The Rob Lowe looks good. I like watching the Brat Pack movies on Netflix. I wasn’t allowed to watch them when they came out because I was too young (pfft to the parentals!) but I enjoy them a lot now. Plus, I loved him on Brothers & Sisters.
Oh I also wanted to say I am so excited for Armchair BEA, too! This is only my 2nd year helping but it is so much fun! This year is looking to be even better than ever, too! Woot!
I need an awesome reading week. I have been pretty quiet lately. I haven’t even been listening to audiobooks very quickly. 😦
