Happy Summer-Cation! As I mentioned last weekend on the blog, I just need to do something SUNNY! I decided to host a last minute “let’s talk about something shiny” (THE SUN!) event where others were and are invited to join me to post something about a summery event, a giveaway, summer plans, WHATEVER as long as no snow or cold is involved.
I repeat….
No Snow and NO Cold can be mentioned in your posts. 😀
(What I just said there doesn’t count as I really have not started my post yet….. )
Ok… so thank you to the few of you who jumped on board and said Yes! I will chat sunshine with you!
Here is one of my FAVORITE summer pics from last year. This is from the Lakes Jam and there is so much to like about this pic.
- I am with my good friend Amy
- LOOK how tan we are!
- No jackets or sweaters 😉
- Crabby photo bomber in the back
Thinking of the warm weather things to come makes me happy… bike rides and runs, reading on the deck, New York the end of May…. all good stuff. 🙂
For my post today, I wanted to do a giveaway of one of my all time favorite reads and book club discussions, The Summer House by Jude Deveroux. It also makes me happy the word “summer” is in the title.
This giveaway will stay up through the weekend and I will announce the winner when I post Tuesday’s Morning Meanderings. To enter, leave a comment telling me something that you are looking forward to this summer.
As I was not the best planner and executor of this event, I am going to set up a linky for others to add their summer posts and giveaways for this Summer-Cation event (if I already had you on my radar and you have posted already this morning I will add your link for you)

I am going to Detroit Lakes this afternoon for the weekend. My friend has a time share and I am looking forward to hanging out with friends, maybe watching a movie and playing some board games. It’s not summer there… but it is a start of doing something! 🙂
I’m looking forward to a charity bike ride I’m doing in July. 120 miles in a weekend with good friends in the heart of a warm Michigan summer.
Nice! I love rides like that!
Summer for me is flip flops ( I do not like shoes! ), reading a good book with the warm sun on my face.
I wear my flip flops pretty much year around in the house : ) LOVE them!
thanks Sheila!
It was fun just exploring for posting !
Have a great time in Detroit Lakes – fond ‘Summer’ memories from there for me (=
what I’m looking forward to? bare feet on warm ground !
Oh yes! Love that!
What a great pic, and the “Crabby photo bomber in the back” made me laugh!
LOL – yes… we have a new picture on Facebook as of today of him and thanks to my cousins handy talent with Photoshop 🙂 I just can’t let him go… its like we are friends now 😛
Now I REALLY want summer to get here!! Of course, I could hike in the winter, but….. (I don’t like it as much)
Hiking… I love that!
Had to go back and look at the photo bomber. Too funny!!
Yes he is worth a look… he is in there in such a way I can not crop him out.
I am looking forward to spending the summer at the beach. My family and I are planning on renting a furnished beach condo for a year to see how we like beach living.
I have only read one of Deveraux’s novels, A Knight in Shining Armor, which was lent to me by a co-worker(she LOVED it and said if I didn’t, she no longer wanted to speak to me — a bit extreme). Well I LOVED it too — couldn’t put it down.
Beach! That is something I do not do often enough!
I am actually looking forward to the nice weather to see exactly what we are getting into with the new house. We only saw in the winter, so I am curious what we have for plants, flowers, etc. We have blueberry bushes, though, and that’s exciting. And, I am hoping to add to the garden situation. The neighbours have grapes, so I am thinking the soil is pretty good here!
The house sounds wonderful – that is a great thing to look forward to!
I’m looking forward to no school and hopefully a job at the local hospital or shadowing a midwife. Both sound good to me. 🙂
That does sounds great!
I looking forward to being able to walk to work, farmer’s markets, hanging out near a pool or lake, and wearing summer dresses. 🙂
All great things – I like just about anything that has to do with being in the sun 😀
LOL. Did you notice that frowny photo bomber in the back? You and your friend look fabulous.
Sorry. I commented before reading the whole post
What I am looking forward to the summer is two things. One thing is that it will be my ‘s daughter’s first birthday in July and just experience all the new things with her ( going to the beach, swimming)
No summer for me either in Sri Lanka or Melbourne which has turned a bit chilly (just a bit) but I do agree with the flip flops idea. So comfortable.
The crabby photo bomber in back was my LOL for the day. I forgot about the summer post this morning but if I had remembered it would have been photos of my garden because that is what I am looking forward to doing this summer – gardening.
No need to enter me, I have a copy of the book that I picked up at a library sale – probably because you recommended it!
Love the pic and the chance to win this book. I love Deveraux. I most looking forward to walks and the playground with my guys every night. Snow snow go away!!!
Summer means the beach.
It isn’t wildly summer-ish here today, but, hey, it’s my first day of Spring Break, so yippee! It’s warmed up to 65 which I totally attribute to your blog hop; somehow I think the book community thinking warm thoughts and reading summer-y books has finally started to drive winter away. Perhaps we could propose to the president a summer-ish book read-in sometime in February instead of Groundhog Dog. I think it might do the trick.
I am looking forward to warm weather, wearing shorts and going bare foot. This book looks really good. Thanks for having the giveaway.
Thanks for the giveaway! Devereaux is a new to me author! I am looking forward to a week away with my whole family, very hard to do!
