It’s Monday! What Are You Reading?

I love being a part of this and I hope you do too!  As part of this weekly meme I love to encourage you all to go and visit the others participating in this meme. While I am no longer offering up the giveaway incentive, I do hope you will still see the value of visiting other participants and seeing what they are reading- be warned though… this meme tends to add to your reading lists :D

Another busy week here, typical summer….  here is what I posted this past week:

Restrike by Reba White William

Pics from last weekends Go Commando Race

Looking For Me by Beth Hoffman

Here is what I am listening to this week (and I say listening because reading has been slow going…)

In the present day, as the man-made apocalypse unfolds, three strangers navigate the chaos. Lila, a doctor and an expectant mother, is so shattered by the spread of violence and infection that she continues to plan for her child’s arrival even as society dissolves around her. Kittridge, known to the world as “Last Stand in Denver,” has been forced to flee his stronghold and is now on the road, dodging the infected, armed but alone and well aware that a tank of gas will get him only so far. April is a teenager fighting to guide her little brother safely through a landscape of death and ruin. These three will learn that they have not been fully abandoned—and that in connection lies hope, even on the darkest of nights.

One hundred years in the future, Amy and the others fight on for humankind’s salvation . . . unaware that the rules have changed. The enemy has evolved, and a dark new order has arisen with a vision of the future infinitely more horrifying than man’s extinction. If the Twelve are to fall, one of those united to vanquish them will have to pay the ultimate price.

In Dad is Fat, stand-up comedian Jim Gaffigan, who’s best known for his legendary riffs on Hot Pockets, bacon, manatees, and McDonald’s, expresses all the joys and horrors of life with five young children—everything from cousins (“celebrities for little kids”) to toddlers’ communication skills (“they always sound like they have traveled by horseback for hours to deliver important news”), to the eating habits of four year olds (“there is no difference between a four year old eating a taco and throwing a taco on the floor”). Reminiscent of Bill Cosby’s Fatherhood, Dad is Fat is sharply observed, explosively funny, and a cry for help from a man who has realized he and his wife are outnumbered in their own home.

When Henry Tudor picks up the crown of England from the mud of Bosworth field, he knows he must marry the princess of the enemy house—Elizabeth of York—to unify a country divided by war for nearly two decades.

But his bride is still in love with his slain enemy, Richard III—and her mother and half of England dream of a missing heir, sent into the unknown by the White Queen. While the new monarchy can win power, it cannot win hearts in an England that plots for the triumphant return of the House of York.

Henry’s greatest fear is that somewhere a prince is waiting to invade and reclaim the throne. When a young man who would be king leads his army and invades England, Elizabeth has to choose between the new husband she is coming to love and the boy who claims to be her beloved lost brother: the rose of York come home at last.

I have had some great audio experiences lately and much to catch up on reviewing.  In the mean time, what are you reading?  I would love to know!  Add your link below where it says click here.

My It’s Monday, What Are You Reading

  9. I read The Passage, the prequel to The Twelve and it was very different and interesting but long. I have The Twelve on my kindle, but am waiting until I am in the mood to start it. Looking for Me still on my wishlist. Dad is Fat I gave my hubby for Fathers Day but he hasn’t read it, so perhaps I will instead 🙂

  10. It’s been the same for me! I’ve been so busy I’ve hardly read any books – thank heavens for audios!

  11. Dad is Fat sounds like it would be a really fun read. The White Princess looks good too – Im not sure why but I stopped reading that series after The Red Queen. I should pick it up again sometime. I hope you have a lovely week!

  12. Have a great reading week! I’m boarding a plane for my trip to Italy today. Enjoy the rest of your summer.

  13. I like having at least three books going, preferably one fiction, one nonfiction, and one children’s book. You are set for some good reading this week, I think.

  14. Oh, I’m such a huge fan of The Passage. I hope you enjoy listening to The Twelve.

  15. I love Philippa Gregory, so I’m sure The White Princess is good! My favorite thing I’m “reading” right now is actually on audio – The Little Princes by Connor Grennan.

  16. The White Princess sounds so good. Adding this to my list asap! Thank you so much for sharing these and I hope you have a great week! My summer is coming to an end soon but I got so much done it’s awesome!

  17. I have enjoyed Philippa Gregory’s books, but have not read The White Princess yet.. Enjoy all of your books!

  18. The Twelve is next up on my reading list, too, Sheila!

I am alone this week (!!) so am enjoying more audio book time than usual and thinking of you!

Enjoy your books this week –

Great Books for Kids and Teens

    Book By Book

    Big Book Summer Challenge

  19. Dad is Fat looks great! And I have looked at Philippa Gregory’s books so many times, but not taken the plunge yet. I love the subject matter, I need to get to these soon! Have a great day!

  20. I hope you enjoy The Twelve! Happy reading.

  21. Had such good intentions today and am finally able to just start visiting now. It’s been one of those days of putting out blog fires,, tour fires and family drama and I am still waiting on a tour post from a missing blogger, lol.

Looks like you have been busy too!! I hope we both can carve out more reading time 🙂

  22. I wonder if this is a good audio for an August road trip for my husband and me (officially empty nesters for a couple of months now). It might get rid of his nostalgia for the days when the kids were little!

  23. I was interested in reading Justin Cronin’s series when The Passage came out. But once I saw how long the waiting periods were between each book, I decided to see how the trilogy ends first before committing to it!

  24. Hi Book Journey, I want to read White Queen. I have a Kindle copy. Have a good reading or listening week.

  25. I would like to read The White Princess. Keep mixing up Princess with Queen. I have it on my Kindle. Had a Kindle crash this week. Waiting for three or four days….Then, a new one will arrive. I like that other book too, “A Place at The Table.”
