Good morning! Happy Saturday to you. 😀
You have probably heard by now some rumblings of Minnesota’s never ending winter. It is May and parts of Minnesota had another 11 inches dumped on them the last couple of days. Thankfully, this time it wasn’t Brainerd. No instead we are getting the cold… the wet… averaging around 40 degrees for the day, high 20’s in the morning. It is cold.. wet.. frustrating and getting very old – even to the snow lovers (which… for the record… I am not one of).
Yet – this last Monday it was nice out. It was in the high 70’s and dry. My friend Amy and I decided it was long past due that we got the bikes out on the trail. I agreed….
I had warned her that in past March/ early April’s that I had been on the trail in occasional spots you could run into some snow. The areas where the trail was protected by tree cover and the sun took a little longer in those areas to melt away the last memories of snow.
Our goal was from Brainerd to Nisswa…. 32 miles round trip.

And we did! We biked/walked the 16 miles to Nisswa and then bike/walked it back. It took up about 45 minutes longer than when we usually do that ride but it was fun and I love having a die-hard friend that not once said, “let’s forget it and turn back.”
I am posting these pictures today for Saturday Snapshot hosted by Alyce at At Home With Books. Stop over and see what other people are posting – and feel free to add your own as well. 😀
I had mentioned yesterday that I was going to the cabin but a friend asked me to check the weather in that area. Up by Duluth it was all snow and rain yesterday and today I did not want to deal with it. Instead I started working on College sons bedroom which has been sitting for the past couple of years and I am now making it into an office. Perhaps… that will be next weeks pictures. 😛 Tonight we have a benefit and a concert. Should be fun.
Listening to audio today – Raven Boys is coming to an end and deciding what to start listening to next…
What are you doing this Saturday?

What is wrong with the weather? It’s cool here too – we still have a blanket on our bed and I’m wearing a sweater today. That is wrong on so many levels. I guess I shouldn’t complain too much – at least we don’t have snow.
Today it is rainy and cold. Last year at this time we had the windows open side and were grilling on the deck… sigh.
Crazy weather you’re having! Love the pics … you and your friend Amy are amazing!
Every crazy person needs a crazy friend. 😛
Thankfully the snow stayed north of us too and we just ave rain. Really ready for some sunshine.
Oh yes… I crave the sun.
You ladies are quite adventurous!
Winter has lasted unseasonably long here in the Midwest too. I don’t recall there being snow before in May in the fifteen years of my living here.
The snow didn’t last long, but still enough is enough. I DO like snow, but it’s time for spring! The flowers and the birds all agree. 🙂
I don’t recall May snows either. What bothers me is when we finally do get summer will it be short and hit fall and then winter again?
I like your determination to get out there anyway. I’d walk it but no way I could bike that path! We got the cold rain here after being spoiled by a few beautiful 80 degree days. I fear the endless winter is going to turn into a stinking hot summer with no break in between!
There were quite a few miles of no snow at all – it wasnt until mile 8 we ran into patches and these pictures are the worst of it. 😀
I’m afraid I would have turned back…lol. But I love your determination…and the photos! Can’t wait to see the bedroom space reinvented into an office!
Thanks for visiting my blog, and enjoy your weekend.
I cleaned up the room yesterday. Packed up College Sons items still in the room and picked out the furniture I wanted to stay including his desk until I find something else. Heading up town now for paint 😉
Way to persevere with the bike ride. En;joying beautiful weather here and I hope it spreads to you. Here’s Mine
I hope so too 😀
Good job ladies on your trip! Going through the snow woulda been tough but good on you two for persevering! 🙂
We had a goal 😉
Even though it was snowy, it must not have been that cold because both of you are without coats. Wow. What weird weather.
I can understand not wanting to head to more nasty weather for the weekend. The bike ride does sound like fun. It would be neat to see how you change the room!
Extreme biking–I love it!
It’s been in the 90s here, too hot for this early in the year. I don’t envy you the snow, but I’d happily average our temperatures a bit if I could!
We had a snowstorm here in Northern Wisconsin and the school where I work actually had a snow day on May 3rd! I mean…really!
Very intrepid of you, Sheila. I admire your energy.
As for snow — yep — it lasted much too long where I live, too. But now — oh yeah — it’s FINALLY GONE.
Way to go! We’ve had up and down Spring weather as well.
My SS
Great perserverance from both of you- still it looks fun.
Love the pics, Sheila. So funny to see you without winter clothes but riding through the snow 🙂
Love the pics despite the stubborn snow. 🙂
Hoping for warm weather for you! I painted my kitchen this weekend-YEAH! I hated the color and now it is lovely- but what a pain in the @#$- lots of cutting!
Crazy crazy weather, well done for riding. I would have said forget the ride but lets go walking/running, I would have thought safer, lol
We biked too this weekend but our weather has warmed up so suddenly here in Montreal Canada that it seems we passed from winter coats right to bikinis. It has been feeling like summer for the past week. What great pics though that really show how messed up our weather has gotten worldwide.
Crazy crazy – snow and tee shirts.
Good for you to push on through. Yes – crazy weather!
