Hee hee. I look like the above picture this morning. HELLO Coffee 🙂
Over the weekend if you have been hanging out (lurking? 😛 ) around here you know I took on a MASSIVE painting project. While painting 12 hours over the weekend I listened to and finished two audio books, A Grown Up Kind Of Pretty, and The Sky Is Everywhere. What was interesting about these two books (well, one of the things that was interesting) is that they both have a pretty important character named ‘Big’ in them. Yes, Big.
SO I finished listening to A Grown Up Kind Of Pretty where our main girl lives with her Grandmother, Big. Then I move on to The Sky is Everywhere and as the book starts I hear the narrator talk about Uncle Big and I am thinking I heard wrong. I can imagine there being two Bobs or Jenny’s or John’s. But Big? I can not think of any other book I have read in all my years of reading that had a character named Big.
Now I can mention two.
😛
I have yet to write-up the reviews but expect to see The Sky Is Everywhere today mainly because I can not stop gushing about this book and that is all I can think about as I try to choose my next audio knowing there is a pretty good chance it will not be as good as what I have just listened to.
Alright, I must go get ready for work. Any books or audio that you have LOVED this much recently? Please share titles! 😀

I just finished reading The History of Us, by Leah Stewart….and what can I say? The characters aroused a lot of emotions that I didn’t realized were just beneath the surface. I like that about a book.
My review is at Rainy Days and Mondays: http://laurel-rain-snow.blogspot.com/2013/02/reinventing-lives-family-connections.html
If you lived in the South, you’d probably know someone named Big so you wouldn’t think that was odd. lol I loved Lots of Candles, Plenty of Cake by Anna Quindlen.
Oh I had never thought of that Kathy! I didnt even know that was a common name of the South! 😀
I have to read 2 different books (for 2 different book clubs) by Barbara Kingsolver. I downloaded the first one to my ipod, then read a review on the 2nd one, which I was just about to download also. It said that the book/story was great but the author should not read her own books. So, now I’m apprehensive about listening. I have some credits, perhaps I’ll try ‘The Sky is Everywhere’.
Debbie – I highly recommend the Sky Is Everywhere. I don’t think I have ever listened to Barbara Kingsolver narrate…
I’ve had The Sky Is Everywhere home from the library twice now and returned it unread. Guess I have to get it and read/listen to it!
Nise I would love to read your thoughts on this audio…. if you loved John Green, I think you will love this one.
Right now, I’m reading A Hero’s Throne, the 2nd book in the Ancient Earth Trilogy by Ross Lawhead for a review.
OOH that sounds good!

Have a great day.
Fiza Pathan
Ahhh thanks Fiza – that is sweet!
The Sky is Everywhere is one of my favorite books ever! Glad you like it too 🙂
I am still gushing about it. 😛
I’m listening to an audio book for the first time EVER. Ever. I’m so visual, it’s a really weird experience for me. I really have NO IDEA how I’ll review it. Lol. It’s Mastiff by Tamora Pierce. It’s funny how the voice changes the flavor of the book. Interesting!!!
I hope it is a good one… not all audio is treated alike. If not – dont give up – I can list audio that will knock your socks off… (Ready Player One)
One of the things I love about audio books… they make time fly while working on projects like painting and landscaping.
I was just telling that to a friend last night… that 21 hour painting project would have really gotten LONG id not for the enjoyable audio I listened to while painting
