Morning Meanderings… Sometimes my dorkiness even astounds me…

Good morning people of Tuesday!  I come in peace…. and with coffee 😛

Ugh…. raining AGAIN in Central Minnesota….  gloomy and gray….

The view off my back deck this morning.

Anyhoo…

YESTERDAY afternoon I came home from work.  The day had a bit of a fall feeling to it, cooler and overcast and I was going to work on some on-line stuff.  SO I grabbed my laptop, my mouse, my blanky, and popped into the recliner.  Logged on… and for the life of me, could not get the mouse to work.

*Note:  I am nothing without the laptop mouse.  It is a crutch, I know… but I can not navigate pages, scroll to comments, or I sure can not play Scrabble on Facebook because I can not figure out how to hang on to the tiles to move them into place without the mouse.

The mouse, appears by all appearance to be working fine.  The little light on the bottom indicates a good battery.  I reset it.  I take the battery out and put the battery in.  I even get up and grab two more batteries out of the drawer and try them.  All the same results… mouse looks fine, will not work.

I… am seriously frustrated.  For some reason the mouse will not be acknowledged by the laptop.

I…. am wasting time.

About 30 minutes later I get up go do something else…. as I pass by my kitchen table I see this:

For those unfamiliar with the workings of the cordless mouse, this little do-dad here is what plugs into your computer/laptop to make the mouse work.  Without it… by all appearance your mouse is going to look like it should work… it will not.  😯

😛

SO…..  once I put that little guy into my laptop side… all was well in mouse world again…. but I….

was feeling pretty foolish and wondering how that detail fell out of my head.

Moving on…. today I work, but tonight… I have no agenda.  I LOVE that!  And it is rainy but no matter, all my outdoor work – mowing, trimming, is done.  😀  Quite the opposite of last week when I had something going on every night.  😀

How is your Tuesday unfolding?  Are there books in your day?  Which one(s)?  Mine may be the conclusion on Jane Eyre and finishing up Some Girls by Sara Pekkanen as well.

  1. I think we all do things like that, I know I do. It’s finally stopped raining here, at least for a few days. I got the yard mowed yesterday evening after having to wait for the rain to quit for 2 weeks. I’m like you, I love to mow. It’s ME time…nobody bothers me while I’m on the lawnmower.

I’m reading The Encounter by Steve Arterburn. I just started it but so far it seems good.

I have my two youngest grandkids today so won’t be on the computer much. I do have a few reviews to post though. Enjoy your day!!

  2. Just curious…but why did you take that connector off your laptop in the first place? Mine is smaller but it stays connected all the time. My problem is that sometimes I run out of battery life and have to go back to the touchpad until my mouse recharges. it is raining here too. But that is okay. I planned to stay in and read anyway. I’m reading Seraphina by Rachel Hartman from NetGalley on my Kindle this morning.

    1. I always put it back into the mouse after I am done using it – I believe (I think)… it saves the mouse battery as it sits underneath the mouse and pushes in to it. Oh boy, I hope I am right about that…lol….

  3. Glad to hear you got your mouse working. lol Maybe you needed another hit of caffine. Sorry to hear your weather is so lousy. Here in Niagara Falls we are in a heat wave. Going up to 40 degrees celcius, good day to stay indoors in the A/C and read. I am finishing up Spring Fever by Mary Kay Andrews. Good read, lots of humor. Enjoy your day.

    1. Not enough Caffeine!!! That’s where I went wrong Joan! LOL 😀 I could use a little heat… I miss the sun although it did come out for a bit yesterday late afternoon. Mary Kay Andrews is a great summer read!

  4. Actually, it has been so HOT here that a little rain sounds kind of good….

I’m giggling about the mouse issue, as that sounds like something I might do. I don’t have a laptop yet, but when I get one, I’ll have to have a mouse. I’ve tried navigating with that little pad on the laptop, and I get very frustrated…..

  5. I love that story! It’s definitely happened to me before. I am reading the Diviners today (hopefully). I have the gym and lots of cleaning to do after work, though. But I’m listening to Outlander in my car. I bought The Passage on audible and will listen to that next. I’m so glad you recommended it!

  6. Glad to hear I’m not the only one who has done that. 🙂 I was thinking the whole time I was reading if you had check that little item or not heh.

  7. Oh funny, Sheila! My mouse USB thingy only sticks out about a quarter of an inch and I would certainly not notice if it wasn’t connected up. On the other hand, I never need to take it out as it’s never in the way.

Even though it’s raining, I hope you have a good day today!

  8. You always make me smile. We all do stuff like that. Could you please send the rain this way. We really need it, the lawn is brown, the farmers must be going crazy.

Today is going to be busy. Working on some blog updates, getting ready for a read-athon and hoping to do some blog visits. Had a surprise visit from my grandson yesterday at 5 a.m.His regular sitter was sick so grandma stepped away from the computer and played trucks, tractors and dinosaurs all day. He tells me I need more dinosaurs on my blog to make it interesting 🙂

  9. I have done that before with my desktop computer! 🙂 Sadly it took me a while to figure out even though I had just pulled out the little flash drive and replaced it with another one in order to load some info on the computer. Sat there for minutes wiggling the mouse trying to figure out why it wouldn’t work!

  10. I have a free evening too due to a canceled babysitting job, so I am going to be reading as much as I can tonight! I am currently reading Perfectly Dateless by Kristin Billerbeck and it’s really good so far!

    1. Nice!!! I didnt get settled in a chair as quickly as I had hoped ran a few errands, took my punishment at the library for late audio books, then made two recipes from pinterest… more on that maybe tomorrow… 😀

      1. Well I ended up not getting as much time either since my sisters and I decided to watch Seven Brides For Seven Brothers!

  11. I do things like that. Most notably, when I’m working on my laptop at my desk while my desktop does some long scan, or update or whatever, I go to scroll or move the cursor on my laptop, but it will not move. Because I’ve gone and grabbed the mouse for the desktop.

I have arty things to do tonight, but if I finish early, or need a break, I’m going to schedule stuff for Audio Book week next week.

  12. My husband would use the laptop and turn the mouse off when he was finished. I come a long and the mouse doesn’t work. I do check the usb plug but do I turn it over? sigh. I’ve learned to check the on switch just in time for him to have bought himself an iPad.

I’m reading Adam Orser by Daniel Armand. Just finished A Night Like This by Julia Quinn
