The Secret Garden Read-A-Long May 1 – May 31

Recently in a post I mentioned that I was going to read The Secret Garden for the first time.  The comments that followed, shocked me…. there are a lot of you out there that have not read this book!  Suddenly I felt I was not alone on my little island of “Those Who Have Not Read The Secret Garden”…

and an idea was born.

Won’t you come and read with me?

If you are interested in doing this read a long with me it is open to those who have not read it before, and to those who feel they may be due for a re-read.

Then… on May 31st here, we are going to have a garden party! You will have a chance to link your reviews and there will be an online book discussion here, as well as giveaways…. all garden themed!

Want in?

Please grab the button above and either 1) write a post with the “woo hoo” I am going to do this read a long!  or 20 add this button to your sidebar or 3) both!

Please fill out this form if you are planning on participating:

Please link up below if you write a post regarding your participation.  I am excited to do this with you!  😀

  1. It has been some time since I read this (for school) my oldest daughter is about the right age to enjoy it I think, so I’m going see if she wants to read it together and help me with my review post at the end.

  2. I finally read it just over a year ago, and the great thing about it is that it retains the magic that you would get from it as a child. Wonderful book, enjoy!

  3. Like I said in your last blogpost about this book, it’s a long time since I’ve read it. Because of that I’m participating in this read-a-long, and looking forward to the garden party:-)

  4. I’ve never read this book, either. Don’t know how I missed it. Am looking forward to it now! Thanks!

  5. I missed your last post but am very excited you and others are reading it. I read it for the first time last year and thought it was magical, definitely stands the test of time. I can’t wait for my 5 year old to be old enough were we can read together and enjoy it.

    Look forward to your thoughts.

    1. Oh good Leslie, I have been meaning to send a group email to those of you who I thought might be in.. but seriously… I have not found the time (or I am too tired at night) to do it…LOL 😀

  6. Going to check out the library tomorrow! I think I can honestly say that this book has been on my mental to-read list for over a decade, maybe over a decade and a half! (I’m 24 ^_^; )
Also I’m quite happy with the fact you can check library catalogs online nowadays, now I know the have several copies, even several translations for the kids ^_^

      1. Now, how does this work? is anything happening between now and May 31? are you sending questions per chapter? or shall we just go ahead and read the whole thing?

  7. Great question! Go ahead and read at your own pace and draft your post. I will send out a reminder in a couple weeks of our May 31 connection. Everything will happen her eon the 31st. 😀

  8. Such a lovely book. I’m definitely in for a re-read, as it’s lovely, and light, and perfect for Spring/Summer to come. Thanks for hosting!

Hmmmm... what do you think?
